Standard # 3: Learning Environments
The teacher works with others to create environments that support individual and collaborative
learning, and that encourage positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and selfmotivation.
Name of Article: Learning Center Plan
Date: June 27, 2015
Course: EDUC 255, Multicultural Education
Description:
Using an article on learning centers by Margaret E. King, I am to create a plan for
learning centers in my classroom. For this plan, I am to use an Indiana theme for the lesson,
providing 2 academic standards for my selected grade level, and provide the materials needed,
time allotted, directions, and assessment for at least two activities for these learning centers.
Rationale:
This assignment demonstrates standard 3, learner environments, by demonstrating how
splitting up learner activity can make a more positive learning environment. By creating learning
centers that build upon content that has already been reviewed, students can move at their own
pace, providing a more engaging and active learning experience, as well as promoting positive
social interaction between students of similar learning pace.
