Heather M. Hilliard is a marketing and strategic planning professional with expertise in crisis
management communications. Heather focuses on strategic and disaster planning, process
improvements for programs and executing special projects. She has had several emergency
management articles published and has earned various disaster relief commendations and
awards. She is credentialed as one of fewer than 1,000 internationally Certified Emergency
Managers in the world, with response experience in such disasters as Hurricane Katrina,
Midwest catastrophic flooding, the 2009 influenza pandemic, the BP oil spill as well as recently
completing an after-action report for a 2015 Pacific typhoon that was shared with the United
Nations.
When Heather isnt working in emergency management and improving programs, shes an
editing and publishing consultant for fiction books and scientific reports. She has also assisted
in updating policies and procedures for a number of companies to improve their systems. Using
her experience to help others reach their goals, visions and corporate missions has
subsequently lead to Heathers own successful career. She is an accomplished writer with more
than 20 years of experience in a variety of industries, typically serving in public relations and
marketing roles. Heather is also an adjunct professor for Tulane University. She has worked for
Axia Public Relations since December 2015.
Heather studied at the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, where she earned two masters
degrees: one in health administration and one in business administration with a focus in
marketing and strategic planning. Heather currently splits her time between living in New
Orleans and Pittsburgh, and you can find her riding and training horses when she can sneak in
the opportunity.

Julie Miller

Julie Miller is a marketing and communications professional with more than seven years of
experience in the industry. She primarily works in the technology and education sectors and
specializes in media relations, digital marketing, advertising and design. Julie is an expert in all
things social media and is the digital marketing manager with the Maryland Department of
Commerce. She has been writing for Axia Public Relations since November 2015.
Coupled with her passion for the outdoors and an active lifestyle, Julie uses her expertise
volunteering for the Special Olympics in Maryland during her free time. She helps facilitate
various Special Olympics events by assisting with logistics such as scorekeeping and meal
distribution.
Julie graduated cum laude from Kent University with a Bachelor of Science degree in public
relations. She later went on to study at Towson University where she received a masters
degree focused on digital communication and media/ multimedia as well as an interactive media
design post-baccalaureate certificate. Julie is currently living in Columbia, Md. with her husband
Chris and their dog Dez. You can often find her walking or running with Dez, and she also
enjoys spending time in the kitchen cooking for and entertaining others.
