Museum Security System

OBJECTIVE:
To create a simple circuit to alarm the guard in the case of a thief trying to steal an artifact
ABSTRACT:
The Museum security system is built around two BC547 transistors which will turn off
relay when it senses the artifact stolen
The main advantages of this circuit are when there is no artifact it will immediately switch
on the alarm, thus saving catching the thief. Once relay switches on it will not reset
automatically until we supply power.
INTRODUCTION:
We have designed this system to reduce the amount of robbery in musems and efficiently
catch thiefs red handed when they try to steal any artifact from the museum. It is very
efficient in its process and consumes less power compared to existing systems.
HARDWARE REQUIREMENT/DESCRIPTION:
BC547, Relay (5 Pin), LED, Resistors,etc
Give the description
CIRCUIT/COMPONENT SPECIFICATIONS:
Supply voltage (VCC)

9V

Supply current (VCC = +5 V)

3 to 6 mA

Output current (maximum)

200 mA

Power consumption (minimum operating)

30 mW@5V

Operating temperature

0 to 70 C

CIRCUIT DIAGRAM:

DESIGN ISSUES:
Maximum supply voltage should not exceed 15V
Humidity should not exceed 85% relative humidity.
APPROACH/METHODOLOGY:
When anybody wants to place the artifact, he will turn off the system to prevent unwanted
attention. As After the system is turned on and the artifact is place on the resistor it the
system is off. When someone is trying to lift the artifact or remove it from the device it
will turn on the relay, which will inturn switch on the motor therefore capturing the thief.
One must take care of specification of relay before mounting like how much load current it
will support. It is always suggested to keep the relay coil current within 200mA. If you
want to exceed the coil current one must use driver transistor to drive the relay

CONCLUSIONS:
Thus the Museum Security System Circuit is constructed and the Motor turns ON
automatically after artifact is removed
APPENDIX:
BC547 :

A transistor is a semiconductor device used to amplify or switch electronic signals and

electrical power. It is composed of semiconductor material with at least three terminals for
connection to an external circuit.
RELAY ( 5 PIN ) :

Relay is an electromagnetic device which is used to isolate two circuits electrically and
connect them magnetically.
LDR

A photoresistor (or light-dependent resistor, LDR, or photocell) is a light-controlled

variable resistor. The resistance of a photoresistor decreases with increasing incident light
intensity; in other words, it exhibits photoconductivity.

Motor:

A DC motor is any of a class of electrical machines that converts direct current electrical
power into mechanical power. The most common types rely on the forces produced by
magnetic fields
