Flag football fraternity significant

national development of the sport
Earlier this week the flag
football fraternity further
demonstrated its capacity to
stabilize the national development of the sport. A Flag football extravaganza is planned
for July 28-August 1 at the
Grand Bahama Sports Complex.
Flag has always been considered the secondary version of
American football. In recent
years though, with the serious
injuries from the highly physical mainstream form of the
game escalating, the more
moderate style of play has enjoyed growing popularity.
Here in The Bahamas, the Bahamas Flag Football League
(BFFL), the Grand Bahama
Flag Football League (GBFFL)
and the Abaco Flag Football
League (AFFL) have set a torrid pace in bringing athletes
into the game. In fact, because
of the initiatives of the aforementioned leagues and their
administrators, flag football has
been able to dwarf the conventional standard.
Flag football games cater to
many more leagues and accordingly, athletes. The matches
draw huge crowds.
Without a doubt, in New
Providence, Grand Bahama and
Abaco, flag football contests
have become marquee sports
events. Exuma is catching on.
Most complimentary, is that
flag footballs growth has been

total. The administrators have

functioned in good comparison
to the exciting action afield.
Also, presidents, Jayson
Clarke (BFFL), Craig Smith
(GBFFL) and Timothy Roberts
(AFFL), work together. They
function on one accord for the
betterment of the sport. They
are constantly in contact and
sharing ideas, opinions and information about their respecMeMories outlaws

tive competitive forums.

It is important in this era,
when in sporting, politic and
Christian environments there is
so much chaos, that there is an
entity that connects positively
with hundreds of young Bahamian males and females. The
national flag football leaders
demonstrate a level of maturity
and sensibility that is high bar
in our sports world.

One needs just to look at the

history of the general American
football landscape in this country over the last decade or so
and recognize the big battle
that has been waged about international recognition, to have
a better awareness of the excellent roles being played by the
flag football colleagues.
The battle still goes on to determine just which organization
will ultimately be accepted as
the real parent body for American football in the country.
Meanwhile however, the flag
football folks are moving on
with their national development
template.
A large flag football bash is
planned for the August Monday
weekend in Grand Bahama.
The flag football experience
will include an invitational
tournament and the national
championship game. Indeed,
Grand Bahama will be the
place to be for the countrys
flag football enthusiasts July 28
- August 1.
The Grand Bahama Sports
Complex with five new fields
will be the host location.
The flag football folks are to
be congratulated. They are certainly doing their part to bring
about national order for the
sport in The Bahamas.
