RATIONALE
The Policy Guidelines on Awards and Recognition for the Technical
Vocational Education Department articulates the recognition given to
teachers who have shown exemplary performance and achievement in
specific areas in their teaching life. These guidelines anchored in Revised
Policies on Employees Suggestions and Incentive Award System (ESIAS)
provided under CSC Resolution No. 010112 and CSC MC No. 01, s. 2001,
thus the Technical Vocational Education Department of Lubang Vocational
High School adopts the herein Program on Awards and Incentives for
Service Excellence (PRAISE). This policy aims to give all teachers equal
opportunity to excel in relation to the standard set by the Committee on
Awards and focus on their own performance rather than to compete with
one another. It recognizes that all teachers have their unique strengths
that need to be identified, strengthened, and publicly acknowledged.
The awards aim to acknowledge and promote teacher excellence in
various areas and to provide formal recognition of teacher achievements
that can motivate other teachers to strive for excellence in teaching,
leadership and social responsibility. In effect, the policy encourages all
teachers to remarkably and skillfully perform specific tasks critical to their
success in school, work and at the community. Consequently, the policy
will include all teachers of TVE and encourage them to be proactive
members of the school, community and the DepEd.
The giving of awards and recognition is but one of the many ways by
which teachers and schools provide teachers with positive feedback and
affirmation, which can improve the teachers teaching strategies and
methodologies, confidence, self-awareness and enthusiasm in teaching. A
motivating environment that promotes respect to all teachers contributes
to the creation of a positive school climate that supports the well-being
and achievement of the school.
