Circuit Breaker cascading is a technique in which breakers adjacent to each other in

an electrical network are set to (short circuit limit and trip time) so as the circuit
serving the lowest number of sub elements is tripped .For example in a building the
Upstream breakers will usually always have a higher trip current limit or at least
higher tripping time, to let the breaker downstream trip first, This is a reason why
Usually you will see the Air Circuit breaker(have higher with stand capability as
compared to MCCB and MCB) at the main incomer of the building , while the
downstream breakers would be usually MCCB or MCB.
