Matthew Lulofs, baritone

Baritone Matthew Lulofs has been praised for his aptly lush and unctuous tone by Steven
Winn of San Francisco Classical Voice. In the 20152016 season, he performed Nardo in
Mozarts La Finta Giardiniera and Raul de San Brioche in Lehrs The Merry Widow with Temple
University Opera, Belcore in Lelisir damore with Opera Libera, and Don Alfonso in Cos fan tutte with
Delaware Valley Opera Company. This fall, Matthew looks forward to singing with the Philadelphia
Opera Chorus in Puccinis Turandot.
Matthew received first place in the auditions for the Greater Philadelphia National Association of
Teachers of Singing (2015), the South Coast Singers Stars of Tomorrow (first place, 2009), Rotary
Internationals Young Singer of the Year (Male Classical, 2008), the Segerstrom Center for the Arts
Tomorrows Star (2008), and the Laila S. Conlin competition (first prize, 2007).
Notable performances include Operatic Fusion at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts in
2009 and a concert for the Ronald Simon Family Foundation with guest speaker Colin
Powell in 2008. In the 20132014 season, Matthew sang in an octet for the first recording
of Gordon Gettys concert work A Prayer for My Daughter and was the bass soloist in
Rossinis Petite Messe Solennelle with the Chamber Choir at the San Francisco Conservatory.
Matthew earned his B.M. from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2014, and
recently completed his M.M. at Temple Universitys Boyer College of Music and Dance
where he studied under Dr. Marcus C. DeLoach.
