Task 2:

How does the integration of literacy into science and social studies support the teaching of
science and social studies content? Use the readings in Task 1 to support your response (expected
4-5 sentences).
-

By integrating literacy into science and social studies, students are able to see how

they relate to one another and why they go hand in hand. You can do this by simply
reading a book relating to a science or social studies topic, or writing a story about a topic
of those subjects. Students are able to learn why each content is important, and how we
can learn different techniques at the same time. The content is easier to learn when kids
read it and then do something relating it, hands on. This is why I want to make sure I try
to incorporate all content areas together if and when that is possible.
