Included in this st of plans are three drawings of bubblers. Each ‘has advantages and disadvantages, 0 it will be up to you to study them and choose whichis right for your application needs. Arisdraw into the bubbler through the inlet atthe top and goes through a tube tothe botiom ofthe bubbler whereit escapes and “bubbles” up tothe surface of the liquid. As that airbubbles up through theliquid fue, itereates -vaporsin the top portion ofthe bubbler which ae pulled into the reaction chamber by the vacuum ofthe engin. A diffuseetbubbler plate and/or metal *serub pads” placed the bubbler wil help breakup the larger bubble nto smaller onesto produce better vapors, enriching the fel mixture tothe reac tion chamber. Other types of bubblers can be used also. The liquid level ‘Within the bubbler should never be high enough to allow liquids tobe sucked into the reaction chamber. Only the vapors are allowed in the reaction chamber forthe process to work properly. Mechanical Float For continuous runing applications, you willneedto control the Bud level in the bubber. One way of doing this isto attach a“Holly" float chamber tothe side ofthe bubbleras shown the drawings. Thisis a mechanically operated system tha can sufficiently do the ob. Ifyou use this method, the surface of | the bubbler you are attaching the chamber to must be flat. fucl bowl adapter (shown on drawing) can be made to cornect the chamber to around bub- blr. You wll need to drill about 5 or 61/4" holes across the botlom area of | ‘the bubbler, where the chamber attaches, so liquid can flow from the float ‘chamber tothe bubbler. Another 3 074 Koles should be dilled in the bub- ble, a the tp area ofthe float ehamberto equalize pressure between the ‘wochambers. Copyright© 1998-2001 All RightsReserved Electrical Float Another way of controlling the fluid level would be an externally mounted ‘clectic float switch (see drawing AC-003). This could be adapted to either shaped bubbler. Partsneeded are: clectic ot switch born relay propane shut-off solenoid 2" PVC pipe wit solid end caps 16-18 gauge wire screw-in bass hose ftings 5/16" fuelline hose clamps). ‘The electric float switches available are for ver low amperage. The amount of power required to activate the propane shut-off solenoid would bum out ‘mos float switches. Therefore we use arelay-activated by the float switch to activate the shut-off solenoid, ‘The principle used here is that fluids wll seek ther own level. Therefore, the level of uid in an exterally mounted chamber wil be consistent with the level in the bubbler. The advantages that che leven tke float switch will ‘not be as affected by he costant bubbling action that takes place inthe ‘Bubbler. ‘Aju the oat switch, within the chamber tothe desired eight of ud inthe ‘bubbler Raising the uid lve nthe bubbler an giveavicher” mixture, but remember notto allow any liquid tobe sucked into the reactor. The lighter elements in the gasoline wll ‘vaporize at roma temperature, but the heaver elements wll resist vapor- ‘zation de tothe cold amasphere created. Bventually youwill vaporize allofthe “lights” and end up witha bubbler full of what nomnally might be referred toas “dead gas”. I'you prefer, just running the exhaust gases into the bubbler instead of res sr to create the bubbles may be suficient for yourneeds, ‘The bubbler can be consiructed of metal or some plastics such as PVC. ‘When using plastics, make sue the glue used will not be dissolved by the fuels you willbe puting nto the bubbler. We have found that/B Weldepoxy {is good to use. you choose to use exhaust gases to surround and heat the bubbler, then pastes should be avoided due to the hot temperature ofthe exhaust. | youchoose to use exhaust gases to bubble the ful with, there are several {actorsto consider. 1) When tapping ino theexhaust system, comecut in "Y “ ishion. Ifyou ‘“T” into the exhaust, there could bea siphoning effect that might suck the fuel into the exhaust. Weave noted {nourtesting that efficiencies can becutto U5 by pressurizing the bub- blr (as opposed to having itundera vacuum). ‘The needs of your application will determine the sizeof the “manval valve”, the size of the bubbler, and the sizeof the lines going tothe ‘bubbler and from the bubbler tothe reaction chamber. Bubbler Summary Insummary.the bubbler can be square, round, heated, ‘not heated, tll or shor (make sure itis tll enough to oop the liquids fom being sucked ino the ection line). Whatever the specific neds of your application are will determine if you should use a bubbler ard ow that bb- blershouldbe built. Foreonstant ring epplicstions, a meas of controling the eve of fuel (loa chamber, extemal electric float nit ‘or something that your design yourself) should be used. ‘The large bubbles coming into the bubbler need to be ‘broken down into smaller bubbles by te use ofa bub- bleridiffuser plate and/or px scrubbers. ‘Besureto use materials able to handle the fuels and tem- oraturs that they wil be exposed to. Either fish ambient airor exhaust gasses can be bubbled up through the bub- bet Theambientairis easier to work wih but the exist sgsoesmay offer better results. Modified Carburetors For certain applications a bubbler may be impractical. Space limitations or ‘ther restrictions on small engines may require youto use a‘modifed”™ car- Dburetor instead. We have successfully modified and used 8 and 10 HP carburetors used on Tecumseh engines to vaporize gasoline as well as SO‘SO ‘mixtures of gas/diesel and gas/kerosene. We restricted the venturi in the carburetor to pass more air over the pick up tube ‘The stock carburetors designed to deivera 12:1 air fuel ratio (AFR). For the GEET we need a2.or 3:1 APR. This is achieved by restricting the ‘venturi diameter and forcing all ofthe ar past the fuel feed tube. Thiscan be ‘accomplished by cither drilling a small hole on the choke side of the venturi and mounting bale wo direct all of the siroverthe discharge fod tube (r by using JB Weld (ep- ‘oxy) to “securea washer into the venturi, restricting the infet cavingthe choke on fll may also help channel the ar ). Combinations ofall of these tricks can make themixture Ticher to deliver the necessary fue charge forastrong and owerfulreaction, ‘Themixture adjustment sew can also be wed to regulate the amount ofl tobe delivered tothe reactor, helping ‘contol engine power requirements.. NOTE: Ifyou ad- just the Air/Fuel mixture going to the reaction ‘chamber too much on the “rich” side, economy will ‘decrease and pollution levels wll increase.
