Journey to becoming a
Massage Therapist
When I received my first
massage, I received it as a
birthday gift from my job at
a treatment center. Working as a counselor brought
about a lot of stress and
tension in the body doing
multiple assignments in the
office as a therapist. There
was an in house Massage
Therapist that did a wonderful job. The music, relaxation, and her skills eliminated my stress for over
two weeks. Afterwards, I
did my research on the profession and the benefits.
I have always been interested in health and education
endeavors such as fitness
and teaching. Having a
background in Health Promotion and lifestyle management showed me that
I can be very creative and
fun as a Massage Therapist.
I can plan spa parties and
even do health exhibits. In
2012 I received my license
as a reflexologist. In 2013,
I received my license as
a Massage Therapists. In
2014, I started renting an
office space where I named
my business KTS Massages
and Methods. I chose the
name because later on I
plan to add more on to my
business that relate to healing and improvement. I am
currently still located there
surrounded by other selfmotivated business owners.
I decided to rent a space
for a concrete location
and for safety and security
reasons. Before any massage, I have clients fill out
an intake form about health
or any type of allergens.
All forms are reviewed and
kept on file. If it is a clients
first massage, I educate
them on the oils, massage,
and benefits.
life. I am motivated to
reach many people, grow
my small business, and add
some more community
outreach to my business.
Knowing that my service
helps to improve or heal
others keep me going. I
also love the flexibility of
setting my own work hours
and not having a ceiling on
what I can make in profit. I promote my business
through flyers and business cards. The days that
business is slow, I remain
encouraged because someone somewhere needs me.
