Over the last few years more and more students
enrol in universities. The situation creates
competition among individuals. Do you agree or
disagree? Is it a good or bad development?
Universities from the ancient times have been playing an
important role in the societal development. People from
across the world exchanged ideas and known about the
cultures of faraway lands. Nalanda university in India is one
example where it facilitated people from all over the world
to learn and exchange great ideas without much
competition.
But In the early history only few selected classes in the
society used to study and learn in universities due to
several restrictions and social inequalities existed where
the education is mainly catered to elite classes. The other
classes in the society primarily worked on their community
backed profession without any formal access to education.
Later on with the rapid industrialisation and development
of more universities and the reduction of social equalities
more people valued the education and the governments
around the world have done their bit in ensuring fair and
free education to all citizens. People from all walks of
society realising the value of education started enrolling in
universities and demanding the right to educate
themselves eventually paving the way for high literacy
societies.
Certainly this has created a severe competition among
individuals in trying to get studied in best universities and
colleges. The competition is healthy in achieving 100%
literate society where in education can provide better life
and can eradicate social evils in the society.

Initially Governments also provided reservations in

education sector based on the social statuses of people to
uplift the poorer sections but there are many people from
all other classes of society who are poor and cannot get the
all the education benefits. This created a unhealthy
competition in the society which can be avoided by
providing education to all classes of society irrespective of
reservations.
More people enrolling in
universities is certainly a good development as long as all
the sections of the society have access to quality education
and provides equality. This is much more beneficial to the
nation development in terms of economy where an
educated work force can competes best and ensures
prosperity in all walks of life.

Environmental problems such as pollution and
climate change affect people throughout the world.
Although global decision is made to reduce these
problems, the solutions are not effective. Why are
the solutions ineffective? How can these problems
be solved?
The huge Industrialisation happened in the 20 th century had
been the driving factor for many modern developed
economies worldwide. This brought a dramatic rise in mass
manufacturing Industries in the developed countries which
uses lot of natural resources like water, land and soil, wood
etc. It also uses electricity from thermal and hydel power
stations, raw materials like paper, drought iron and other
metals and minerals. The heavy usage of raw materials and
natural resources by the Industries is one of the main
causes for environmental problems.
The outcome of heavy industrialisation is Water and Air
Pollution where the industrial wastes and toxic gases are
found to be released to the environment without any
proper safeguards. This causes the entire surrounding

areas to be contaminated and severely polluted making the

area to be unliveable for any kind of life. Coal as a fuel
used is one of the major causes in emitting greenhouse
gases which causes pollution.
The other pollutions are Dust and Noise pollution due to the
increase in number of automobiles on the roads. The
Vehicular pollution is the second major cause for
contamination of Air across the world in both developed
and developing economies. Petrol or diesel used is another
cause for higher carbon imprints causing pollution by
emitting harmful gases into the environment.
There are major medical problems and diseases being
developed due to huge pollution levels across the world
with the increase in usage of various higher carbon imprint
fuels. There are huge global warming issues and climate
changes being caused with the increase of sea levels and
melting of Antarctica zone and Himalayas.
Some of the problems can be solved when the Vehicular
traffic can be heavily reduced with mandatory usage of
public transport in most countries. Mass transit like high
speed trains and metro should become common and
developing countries should be relying on it more than ever
promoting the reduction of vehicular traffic. Also there is a
great worldwide research being done to reduce the fuel
usage and depend on new generation of electric
automobiles. There are several steps being taken by
developed economies subsidizing and rewarding the
developing economies with modern tools and techniques in
shifting from traditional fuel usage like coal to Nuclear
power and electrical engine usages.
Some of the solutions like electric engine usage in
automobiles are yet not effective in the modern world due

to the huge disadvantages in terms of speed and the cost

they offer and incur when compared with traditional
engines.

It is better to teach sports to young people at school
as an alternative to playing computer games at
home. Why it is important? Give your opinion and
examples from your own experience.
Sports continue to play a vital role all over the world and
people from all kinds of classes in the society loves
watching sports and cheer for the favourite athletes.
Athletes are recognised as role models especially for young
people for the winning capabilities they display against
odds and for sheer commitment and determination for the
sport they choose to play.
I believe Professional sports are very much necessary to
teach young people due to the following advantages. It
requires an individual or a player to display both the
physical, mental and intellectual skills participating in a
team and compete with equally focussed and talented

individuals which in many cases increases the individual

confidence to gel, communicate and work with a diverse
group of people sharpening his or her team work skills. The
physical skills developed and acquired with constant and
continuous physical activity make the person stronger in
achieving both physical stamina and mental abilities to
face and rise up to the life challenges much confidently
than without the lack of it.
Computer games are a different form of activity played in a
virtual environment where any professionally played sports
can be simulated to the maximum extent and played as an
individual or with a set of players from across the world
with or without revealing their actual identities. Some of
the unique advantages these games offers are mainly in
the strong mental sports like Chess, Puzzles, Strategy
games where the player is pitted against a computer
program which had unique set of in-built logics making the
person compete and develop his cognitive and thinking
abilities to a great extent. It can be played multiple times
giving the player a chance to regroup his strategies against
the stronger opponent and play again. In case of multiplayer games the person gets to play with different set of
people across the world making him increase his mental
abilities and confidence levels.
I conclude and support the opinion that Professional sports
played physically in real world at school is a very good
alternative to playing computer games where the physical
and complete mental stamina can never be tested
completely. It is also believed that sportsmen would have
the highest fitness levels and health is considered as the
utmost wealth one should have always. Young people can
look up to professional sportsman as mentors and adore

them for their hard work and learn how to win or loss
gracefully in sport and life also.
