Earthquake calculation

Base shear, v =

Here
Z = zone co-efficient
According to BNBC, Z1= .075, Z2= 0.15, Z3= 0.25
I = structure importance co-efficient. If not given then I = 1
R= Response modification factor, R = 8 (no shear wall), R= 9 (with shear wall)
Ct= .073 (If h in meter)
= .03 (If h in ft)
W = Structures dead weight

Let, Total height of a structure from base is 56

T= Ct hn3/4 = .03563/4=.61<.75 (S= site coefficient, if not given then S3=1.5
C=

v=

=>

= 2.61<2.75

= 4.89%

Now take values of V & W and check the ratio is ok or not.

Wind Calculation
Based on BNBC wind pressure,
Pz= .00256 CICZCGCtCpVb2
Here,
Basic wind speed, Vb = 130 mph (at Dhaka)
Structure Importance Co-efficient, CI= 1
In plane Terrain, local topography co-coefficient, Ct=1
When wind in X direction
Building height, H=56
Dimension, L = 34, B = 27
Here,

= 2.67,

= 2.67

From Table 6.2.15, Cp=1.378

Fx =59.62 CzCG
Same as Fy= 66.497 CzCG
Find Ax & Ay then find Fx=PxAx & Fy=PyAy.
Also use in etabs
Windward co-efficient = 60-70% of Cp
Leeward co-efficient = Rest of Cp
