This essay was written in January 1980 as an Introduction to Kovilan's Selected Stories, published by
Sahitya Pravarthaka Co-operative Society Ltd., Kottayam, Kerala, India. The book was released in
September 1980 in a well attended function in Little Flower College, Guruvayur, Kerala, India by
social reformer and writer V.T. Bhattathirippad giving a copy to G. Aravindan, famed film maker and
cartoonist.
