Section 5 Roles and Responsibilities:
1.This section doesnt list Blasting/Painting foreman who is required to manage daily activities
in paint shop: having a competent and experienced blasting/painting foreman is recommended
to control workflow and productivity.
2.Control of ambient air conditions should be done daily, all daily application/inspection details
for qc reporting should be recorded and reported by subcontractors QC inspector. So this
section of MS should include QC inspector.
Section 9 Preliminary Work:
1.Blasting of CS pipe fittings to be clarified - closed high pressure air abrasive blasting chamber
within the paint shop is required for blasting as per the specified cleanliness.
2.Blasting of raw SS pipes and fittings to be clarified as well a separate high pressure air
abrasive blasting chamber within the paint shop is required for blasting as per the specified
cleanliness. Blasting of stainless steel to be described in details.
3.Describe handling methods of SS stuff during the blasting/painting activities, how will the SS
materials be protected in regards of the cross contamination from CS inventories of
blasting/paint shop?
9.2.1 Surface Preparation:
1.Which abrasive will be used for SS pipework blasting?
2.Details of the listed equipment to be provided.
3.Monitoring status of blasting abrasives to be recorded accordingly.
4.MS should indicate frequency of ambient air conditions control in blast shop.

Paint shop Layout:
1.Paintshop Lighting to be ex-proof.
2.No separation for CS/SS scopes in the layout.
3.No blasting chamber for manual blasting of delicate surfaces and irregular shapes.
4.Air extraction to be close to the floor to catch atomized painting particles suspended on the
air due to high pressure spraying, extraction must have built-in filters to clean the air,
extraction fans and filtering boxes to be installed on the paint shops sidewalls. Overhead
extraction system with a single/common extraction fan may not be effective because the
coating materials to be used are mostly high density type.

WM Services / Disposal Services:

All details of the waste management to be introduced to Contractors HSE department for
reviewing and approval before the execution.

NoteSubcontractor may consider the below detailed workflow to minimize the cost and
progress of blasting/painting activities and overall fabrication in general:
1.Fabrication of pipe spools as per the iso drawings.
2.Inspections (Dimensional, NDT) and final release for painting.
3.Blasting/Painting as per Project requirements and release of finished spools to spool yard or
for site erection.
