Use correct Personal Protective Equipment that is in good condition


Secure the area with barriers (e.g. red-white barrier tape)
Ensure only a minimum amount of materials at the workplace at any time
Keep the work area clean and tidy
Clean up spilled chemicals directly

Dispose of chemicals properly (i.e. hazardous waste)

Undertake any work if you are not qualied


Block escape routes
Eat or drink during work
Mix chemicals without knowing if a reaction may occur
Inter-change containers or bottle caps
Store acids and alkalies together
Store chemicals near a heat source
