NATURE OF COMPLAINT:

Felony Domestic Battery in presence of Child

INITIAL RESPONSE:
roximately 1744 hours, I was
dispatched to
for a domestic battery.
Dispatch
advised a nurse from the Star Medical Clinic was reporting a patient,
, disclosed she was struck in the head by her husband. The nurse stated
sustained some head trauma and neurological changes.
I called Nurse Donna at the clinic.
Donna told me
checked in to the
clinic earlier in the day complaining of head pain. The nurse said it was not
just "normal head ache" pain.
The nurse told me after speaking with
she
revealed her husband had struck her in the back of the head.
Donna said
was reluctant to tell her that the injury was caused by her husband.
told Donna that her husband had been drinking and they got into a verbal
altercation.
told Donna they both slapped each other in the face and
then she was struck in the back of the head.
did not know what was used
to hit her.
Donna told me
had mentioned her kids were present during
the incident.
INITIAL CONTACT:
I arrived at the house with Canyon County Sheriff Cpl.
Minshall 5267 at approximately 1801 hours.
I spoke with
and her friend
Sasha McJunkin.
I asked
if her husband was at the house.
said
"no".
name is Kevin
.
told me she has one
child in common with Kevin and have been married for about 4 months.
said they have been together for over 3 years.
I asked
what happened between her and Kevin last night.
said
the incident occurred on 1/21/16 at about 2230 hours.
told me Kevin was
trying to prove a point.
told me Kevin was very intoxicated during the
incident.
commented that she knew she should have known better and to
backed off when he is drunk.
had signed their child up to play little
league baseball. Kevin argued with her that the child does not want to play
baseball. Kevin decided he was going to have the child write down the sports on
a paper plate. They called their son, Dakota Williams
, down and
had them write out the sport they wanted to play.
Dakota did not pick baseball.
told me Kevin started to become a jerk about how she was wrong.
said Kevin took the plate and slapped her on the face with it.
said she did not think he was doing it to try to hurt her but to be more
disrespectful.
said she instinctively slapped him in the face back.
After
had slapped him, he pushed her over a nearby couch.
a said
she was bent over the top of the couch at the waist, with her head in the couch
seat, back facing towards Kevin.
said when her head was down in the
couch, she felt something strike her really hard on the back of her head.
could not recall if it was a punch, or if Kevin used something to strike
her in the head.
said Kevin grabbed her from the couch and pushed her
on the floor.
said her son ran back~fore the physical
altercation but her daughter, Hadlei

the stairs.
said her leg struck her daughter when Kevin pushed her from
the couch to the ground.
told me she picked up her daughter as she did
not want Kevin to be around her.
said Hadlei was acting "hysterical".
said Kevin was standing in her way with his fists clenched like he was
not going to allow her to leave the room.
was asked if she tried to
call 911 anytime during the incident and she said "no".
said Kevin went to the garage.
told me she went to the Star Medical Clinic earlier in the day because
her head was hurting.
said the doctor gave her a "neuro test'' and she
could not touch the tip of her nose with her finger.
said the doctor
was going to schedule a CT scan.
I asked

if Kevin was hear earlier in the evening and she said "yes''.
said they spoke about the incident.
Sasha was present when Kevin was at
the house.
said Kevin was minimizing the incident.
asked Kevin
if she remembered what happened being drunk and he said "most of the time".
Kevin told her she hit her head against the wall.
told Kevin he needs
some alcohol treatment as he is an alcoholic.
Kevin told
if she was
afraid, they were done and was no use talking about it.
told me she
asked Kevin to leave.
showed me where the altercation took place.
The altercation took place
in the dining room, living room area.
There is a diner table in the dining
room, next to the table is a "L" shape couch in the living room.
There is a
walkway between one side of the couch, to the stairway.
There is a pillar at
the bottom of the stairs.
said both of them were standing next to the
table, with her back to the couch.
demonstrated how she was pushed, and
fell over the couch.
The way
demonstrated the push on the couch showed
that she could not have hit the wall with her head.
The wall was not next to
the couch in that position.
Sasha told me
sent her a text message after the incident.
I asked Sasha
to write out on a statement.
Sasha said she would.
Sasha's statement was
consistent to what
had just told me.
I asked
if there have been other physical altercation.
said
Kevin will often push her as he walks by her in an attempt to "intimidate" her.
OFFICER'S OBSERVATIONS /ACTIONS:
I asked
if she knew where Kevin was
staying and she said ''no".
used an application on her cell phone that
shows the GPS location of Kevin's cell phone.
The first location showed that
Kevin was on Condor Dr. near Gateway Ave. which is a few blocks away from the
house.
The next location showed that it was on Peregrine Dr. headed towards
Middleton Rd.
I asked Cpl. Minshall if he would do an area check for Kevin.
said
Kevin was driving a black GMC Yukon.
Cpl. Minshall located the vehicle and
Kevin.
He initiated a traffic stop and the vehicle yielded near the
intersection of N. Middleton Rd. and E. Main St.
I took photos of the living room, dinning room areas.
I took photos of
and the location of her injury.
said she was not hurting anywhere else
and she said "no".
I encouraged
to go to an Emergency Room if she was
feeling any pain or discomfort in her head.
Sasha said she was staying the
