Pressure & Liquid Head

Pressure & Head

The pressure and head relationship is given as following:

P=

x x
1000

= SG x g x h

P = Pressure (kPa)
= Density (kg/m3)
g = Gravitational acceleration (9.81 m/s2)
h = Liquid head = m
SG = Specific Gravity (Relative Density)

Example:
Liquid is Propane at 100 m column height
SG is 0.506 @ 30 oC (Density = 0.506 * 1000 kg/m3)
Calculate Pressure = 506 x 9.81 x 100/1000 = 496.4 kPa
Similarly Pressure = 0.506 x 9.81 x 100 = 496.4 kPa
What is the pressure for water with same column height?
