Hemming Park Announces Public Programming & Events


for June 2016
2nd Annual Asian Food Festival is June 18
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 25, 2016 The nonprofit organization Friends of
Hemming Park is proud to host the following programs and events in Hemming Park
located at 135 W. Monroe Street in the center of Downtown Jacksonville. The
programs and events listed below are free and open to the public, unless otherwise
noted.
WEEKLY PROGRAMMING

WED, June 1

FIRST WEDNESDAY ART WALK
Join Downtown Vision, Inc. and Bold City Brewery in celebrating 150 Art Walks!
Enjoy live music, local artists, food trucks, 60+ participating venues and more. Bold
City Brewery will be releasing the Big John's Apricot Wheat Ale and will also have

PRINCE TRIBUTE CONCERT
Several local bands, concert organizer Cyrus Quaranta and emcee Carl Smith invite
you to join them in paying respect to Prince at a Tribute Concert that will raise
money for The Jazz Foundation - an organization that Prince personally supported.
Join us in Hemming Park to enjoy Prince classics performed live with beer, wine,
cocktails, and food.

NONPROFIT BUSINESS EXPO
All I Know, Inc. invites you to Hemming Park every first Friday of the month to meet
and mingle with local nonprofit organizations to learn more about the services they
provide and how you can get involved.
SUN, June 5
12 3 P.M.
ART FUSION WITH MOCA JACKSONVILLE
Kids are invited to participate in a hands-on art activity with MOCA Jacksonville in
the park and then enjoy free admission to the museum by showing their artwork.
This month's project: Inspired by Maya Hayuks use of geometric shapes and
patterns in her works featured in "Confronting the Canvas: Women of Abstraction,"
use washi tape, masking tape, paints, and more to create a mixed-media
masterpiece.

11 A.M 3 P.M.
10,000 ICE CREAM SCOOP CHALLENGE
Support the Salvation Army and Denali Moose Tracks take on the 10,000 scoop
challenge here in Jacksonville. Their goal is to give away ten-thousand scoops of
Moose Tracks. For every free scoop, $1 will be donated to the local Salvation Army.
This event is free and open to the community.

POWER OF MYTH WORKSHOP #2 and #3
Jungian psychoanalysts Gretchen Deters-Murray, LMFT and Barbara Woods-Barnes,
LMHC invite you to join them for a six-session workshop around the Power of Myth.
Participants will watch a Joseph Campbell interview and then engage in a guided
discussion about its theme. Workshop #2 deals with "The Message of Myth."
Workshop #3 is centered around The First Storytellers.

HEARTBEAT OF THE BOLD CITY
Heartbeat of the Bold City speaker series presents writer and Tonight! host Jim
Alabiso on June 9. Come hear Jim speak about while you enjoy live music by Jordan

Aldridge. On June 23, the Heartbeat of the Bold City presents A Guide into Sacred
Sound with esteemed local musician Arvid Smith and live music by Shawn Lightfoot.
Beer, wine, and food truck fare will be available at both events. Details at

WORLD REFUGEE DAY
After a naturalization ceremony in the Jacksonville Main Library, join new citizens,
their family and friends to celebrate their cultural heritage through traditional art,
dance performances, music, food and more!

JAXSONS NIGHT MARKET
Every third Thursday of the month enjoy a downtown night market of local farmers,
artisan food vendors, entrepreneurs, food trucks, fashion trucks, live music and the
Hemming Park Beer Garden!

2ND ANNUAL ASIAN FOOD TRUCK FESTIVAL
Enjoy authentic Asian and Asian-inspired dishes from Cely's Filipino Food,Fusion
Food Truck, F3rd Food Truck, Abstrakt FE and more. Plus local craft beer, wine and
cocktails. Games and entertainment for the whole family will be provided. This
event is free and open to the public. All ages welcome.
WED, June 29
11 A.M. 2 P.M.
YOUTH BUSINESS MOTIVATION TEAM CHALLENGE
Join Krumpin 4 Success Inc. as they challenge their summer campers to become
youth entrepreneurs. K4S split their campers into teams and each team has a
product to market and sell. The winning team receives the proceeds to use towards
their own business. Support these young entrepreneurs as they learn valuable skills
in professionalism and customer relations.
