Justice and Journalism
Journalism and media are driven by the concept of Justice and it is often the case
that we judge a book by its cover which is indeed very fallacious. The law and order
system in particular is profoundly influenced from mass media. Firstly, the frequency of
brutal atrocities is more often than not exaggerated in the press. In their single minded
quest for more recognition and acclaim, interpretation of facts and figures are twisted
beyond the imagination of the human mind, thus resulting in the general public to
actually believe that the world is becoming more and more dangerous than it actually is.
The other crucial factor affected is the publics judgement of the conviction of felons. The
entire proceedings of the lawsuit is seldom covered by the media, rather only the
commencement and verdict is greatly emphasized. People rely on the information from
journalists and form impressions based on that single idea rather than researching actual
court documents. This in a way makes them presume that everything conveyed is
accurate and correct. On the contrary the people having a thorough research and
understanding of the trial had entirely different notions about verdicts pronounced by law
authorities which is without a doubt a very intriguing fact to ponder upon.
