Grammar Feedback Analysis

This is a listing of the most common types of feedback I give on assignment essays. Review it and keep it
open when you analyze your essay feedback. Only by noticing and understanding your errors will you
learn to correct them on your own in the future.

Grammar Point

Explanation

SP (spelling)

The word is misspelled (mispled ! misspelled)

WF (word form)

The incorrect Word Form is used (big ! bigger)

WC (word choice)

There is an error in Word Choice: choose another word

WO (word order)

Switch the word order (order word ! word order)

^ (missing word)

A word is missing: add a word (^ still)

/ (delete a word)

A word should be deleted (not necessary)

S/V (Agreement)

There is an error with Subject/Verb agreement (the cat are)

V (verb)

There is an error with the Verb (I did eating the pizza)

TNS (verb tense)

There is an error in Verb Tense (tomorrow I bought)

SUB (subject)

There is an error with the Subject

# (pluralism)

There is a Pluralism error with the noun (one lazy cats)

POSS (possessive)

There is a Possessive error with the noun (my cousin jacket)

PRO (pronoun)

There is an error with the Pronoun (where is mine sandwich)

ART (article)

There is an error with an Article (with a article)

REF (referent)

There is a Referent error (this things are yours)

PREP (preposition)

There is an error with the Preposition (on my opinion)

S (sentence)

There is a problem with the Sentence

= (parallelism)

There is a Parallelism error (I ate, drank, and read the paper)

CONJ (conjunction)

There is an error with the Conjunction

TRANS (transition)

Usually, a Transition is needed

FRAG (fragment)

The sentence is a Fragment (incomplete)

R/O (run-on)

The sentence is a Run-On (make 2 or more sentences from 1)

PUNC (punctuation)

There is an error with the Punctuation

CAP (capitalization)

There is a capitalization error

(paragraph)

There is a problem with the Paragraph

? (I dont understand)

I dont understand the meaning, so I cannot give feedback

! (change)

Change the word, phrase, or clause to something else
