Election Dates & Registration Deadlines
A General Election is held in November of every even-numbered year. The Primary Election for nominating
party nominees for the General Election is held 10 weeks before the General Election. Special elections may be
called at any time during the year.
Register by August 1, 2016 for Primary Elections on August 20, 2016
Register by October 11, 2016 for General Election on November 8, 2016
The 2016 Primary Election is held 10 weeks before the General Election. In the Primary Election, voters registered with one of Floridas political parties express their preference for the candidates they would like to see representing their party on the General Election ballot in November.
It is very important that you check your voter registration card to make sure that the party affiliation is correct. This is very important when you vote during the primary elections.
