Notwithstandingoppositionfromfarmersinpartsofthestateoverlandacquisition,theKarnatakagovernmenttoday
approved28megaindustrialprojectswithaninvestmentofRs8,622.41crore.
TheStateHighLevelCommitteeforIndustrialProjectsclearancechairedbyChiefMinisterBSYeddyurappaaccordedin
principleapprovalfortheprojects,whichincludedtheHondaMotorCycleandScootersIndiaLtd,tobesetupatacostof
Rs1,350croreinNarsapurIndustrialareainKolardistrict.
Givingdetailsoftheprojectsthatgotthecommittee'sapproval,MinisterforIndustriesMurugeshNiranitoldreportersafter
themeetingthattheseprojectshadthepotentialtogenerate22,799jobs.
Theprojectswhichgotapprovalare:automobile(2),Ceramics(1),Chemicals(2),Education(1),Engineering(2),Food
processing(2),Infrastructure(2),Steel(3),ITPark(1),Petrochemicals(1),Sugar(8),Textile(1)andotherstwo.
MangaloreChemicalsandFertiliserswillmanufactureurea,basicorganicchemicalsandotherspecialtyfertilisersinPanabur
villageofMangaloredistrictwithaninvestmentofRs483Crore,hesaid.SugarfactorieswithatotalinvestmentofRs1,900
crorewillbeestablishedinthedistrictsofBijapur,Mysore,Bagalkot,Belgaum,Niranisaid.
ThemeetingalsoapprovedchangeofownershipoftheproposedRs36,000croresteelplantinBellary,whichwas
transferredbyBrahminiSteelspromotedbyTourismMinisterGJanardhanaReddy,toDelhibasedcompanyUttamGalwa.
Reddyhassoldhiscompany'srightsinfavourofGalwa.
