THE HUNTINGTON is an independent research


library with significant holdings in the history of
science and medicine including a remarkable
collection in the history of science and technology
(The Burndy Library), consisting of some 67,000
rare books and reference volumes, as well as an
important collection of scientific instruments.
The HISTORY OF MEDICINE collection at The
Huntington is one of the largest in North America.
It includes peerless archives of books, manuscripts,
instruments, and visual materials that chart the
Western practice of science and medicine from the
Renaissance to the post-war period.

FELLOWSHIP OPPORTUNITIES
The Huntington awards almost 200 research
fellowships annually. The application deadline
for fellowships in the 2017-2018 academic year is
Nov. 15, 2016. Recipients of all fellowships are
expected to be in continuous residence at The
Huntington and to participate in and make a
contribution to its intellectual life.
The Molina Long-Term Fellowship in the
History of Medicine and Allied Sciences offers
$50,000 for a minimum of nine months
residence. Up to twelve months of short-term
fellowship (at $3,000 per month for
between one and five months) will
also be awarded annually.
