IBPS PO SYLLABUS 2016 WITH PATTERN FOR BOTH PRE & MAIN EXAM
IBPS had announced exam pattern of PO exam. Check latest syllabus / exam pattern below.
Preliminary exam will have questions of low level to sort out candidates while Main exam will be difficult.
All the candidates who successfully register themselves under CWE PO/MT-V will be called for Preliminary Examinations. Based on Pre exam,
candidates will be shortlisted & called for Main Examinations.
There will be 100 questions & 3 sections in the Preliminary Examination with 1 hour duration.
The marks obtained in the Preliminary examination will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.
Marks obtained in the Main Examination will only be considered for short listing for interview.

IBPS PO 2016 PRE EXAM PATTERN & SYLLABUS:


It is as per official notice that IBPS PO Pre exam will be of 1 hour duration. The number of questions asked will be 100 from the basic sections of
this exam given below. The difficulty level of these questions will be of easy to moderate while that of Main exam would be high. The syllabus of
this section will be same as that of mains. Only the difficulty level varies.

This probationary officer exam written test paper is divided in 5 sections. These five sections are Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude,

1. IBPS PO Reasoning Section Syllabus:


Note: The number given in Brackets are the number of questions usually asked in exam (based on previous year pattern).

This section will have question on following topics.


Verbal reasoning: Alphabet test, Mathematical operations test, Series test, Analogy. Odd Man out, Classification, Syllogism (5),
Coding-decoding (5-7), Blood relations (5). Number, ranking and time sequence, Causes and effects, Analytic reasoning, Direction
sense test. Sitting arrangement (5-10), Decision making, Input output (0-5), Puzzle (4-7), Statement and conclusions (2-4). Statement
and assumptions, Statement and arguments (2-4), Statement and actions courses. Passage and conclusions (2-3), Assertion and
reasoning, Figure Series, Word formation, Series (5).
2. IBPS PO Quantitative Aptitude Syllabus:
Topics are - Number system (2-3), HCF & LCM, Number series, Problems based on numbers. Approximation Wrong Number,
Decimal fractions, Square root and cube root, Simplifications (5). [Partnerships, Percentage, Ratio and proportions, Average & Ages
Ratio & Proportion]: (4-6). [Profit and loss, Simple interest and compound interest]: (2-4), [Time and work, Time and distance,
Mensuration]: (2-4). Permutation and combination (1-2), Probability (1-2)
Data Interpretation (12-16): Pie charts, Bar graphs, Line graphs, Mixed graphs

3. IBPS PO SYLLABUS for English language section


Topics of this section are - Spotting the errors (3-5), Phrase substitution, Ordering of sentences or jumbled up sentences (3-6). Double
blanks in a sentence, Fill in the blanks (0-5). Cloze Test, Idioms & Phrases, Choosing the appropriate filler. Synonyms and antonyms
(0-3), Reconstruction of sentence & passage. One word substitution, Commonly misspelled words, Comprehensions (8-15).
4. IBPS PO General awareness with special reference to banking industry-section Syllabus:
Banking Terms, Current Rates (Bank rate, Repo Rate, Reverse repo rate etc.), Abbreviations / full forms, Important days / dates,

IBPS CLERK ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA 2016


IBPS lays down certain eligibility conditions which each candidate is required to fulfill in order to be eligible to apply and compete in the IBPS Clerk
examination. The minimum eligibility requirements are given belowAspirant must hold the graduate or equivalent degree from any centrally recognized universityAn applicant must lie in the age group of 20 to 28 year.
However, the Upper age limit is relaxed to various extents for various categories.
Candidates must hold the Computer literacy which means they must hold the operating and working knowledge in computer systems.

The applications for IBPS Clerk 2016 will be released in the month of August. Applications will be accepted via online mode only through the IBPS website.

IBPS CLERK EXAM PATTERN 2016


Both the Preliminary and Main Exam will be an objective- based online exam of 01 hour and 02 hours, respectively. Negative marking will be imposed for
wrong answers marked by the candidates in both Pre and Main Exam the penalty of one -fourth or 0.25 of the marks assigned to the question will be
deducted as penalty to arrive at the final corrected score.

Important Point to Note Marks obtained by the candidates in the IBPS Clerk 2016 Main examination will only be considered for short-listing for Interview
and preparation of final merit list.

IBPS CLERK SELECTION PROCESS 2016


IBPS has revised the selection process for the clerical recruitment as per the orders of the Government of India. Hence, from this year onwards, the Interview
process has been done away with and now the selection process will only consist of the Preliminary Examination and Main Examination.

IBPS CLERK CUTOFF 2016


IBPS will be deciding the minimum benchmark score for both the Preliminary and Main examination. Candidates must make sure that they qualify in both the
test for final selection. You can refer here the previous year cutoff data.

IBPS CLERK RESULT 2016


The result for both the Preliminary and Main Examination will be announced by the IBPS on its official website. All the concerned candidates will be able to
check their result by putting the registration number/roll number and password/date of birth in the required field. The result shall display the status of the
candidates after which the scores of the candidates will be displayed. Those candidates who will not qualify in the Prelimiary would not be considered further
for Mains. No candidates will be intimates separately about the declaration of the result. Final allotment list of the candidates will also be available on the
official portal of IBPS.

SBI PO EXAM PATTERN


Banking The Recruitment Examination for Probationary Officers to various SBI Branches is considered as one of the central banking exams of the country.
Every Year, a number of banking aspirants apply for SBI PO Recruitment Examination and the competition level of only escalated further beyond.

The stages of recruitment involved under the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2016 are as follows:
Phase 1: Preliminary Examination
Phase 2: Main Examination
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Interview
The candidates should note that their participation in every other stage except the Phase 1 is subject to their qualification through a cutoff score which the SBI
brings out just after the examination depending upon the constitutional affirmative policy.

Phase 1: SBI PO Preliminary Exam Pattern 2016


Important highlights for the Exam pattern followed in the preliminary exam are as follows:
The Preliminary examination is an objective type examination where the candidates need to select one correct option out of given four options.
The total mark of the exam is 100.
For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response mark willet deducted. However, no mark will
be deducted for any response.
The test would be conducted online.
The total time allotted is 60 minutes or 1 hour.
The candidates should note that there are three sections in the Preliminary examination which have sectional cutoffs which the candidates need to clear.

PHASE 2: SBI PO MAIN EXAM PATTERN 2016 (NEW PATTERN):


The candidates who score above the SBI PO Preliminary Cutoff Score 2016 will be allowed to take theSBI PO Main Exam 2016 which will follow a
completely different exam pattern. SBI has made some changes in the exam pattern of SBI PO Main Examination. Main Examination will consist of
Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks. Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer
Descriptive Test by typing on the computer. Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
The main examination of SBI PO is divided into two stages:
Objective Test
Descriptive Test

Objective Test:
SBI PO Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
The objective test will be for 3-hour duration consisting of 4 sections of total 200 marks.
The Objective Test will have separate timing for every section.
The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response marks will get deducted. However, no mark
will be deducted for any response.

CHANGES OBSERVED IN SBI PO OBJECTIVE TEST

Step-wise changes observed in the SBI PO Objective test has been illustrated below:
Step 1: Total Time for SBI PO Mains Examination: Previously, the total time for solving objective paper of SBI PO Exam was 2 Hours. But, as per the new
exam pattern, the total time for SBI PO Mains has been extended to 3 Hours.

Step 2: Section-wise time allotment: For SBI PO 2016, there will also be sectional limit on each of the sectional objective paper. The exam will be conducted
online and each section has a timer.
Descriptive Section Pattern:
Along with the objective type question, the Main Exam will have questions in the descriptive format as well. Following are the important points to ponder for
the written examination:
The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration comprising of 50 marks.
The test will be of English Language (Letter Writing and Essay).
The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as
per total marks in Objective Test.
This test will judge the writing skills of the candidates.
Changes observed in Descriptive Test:
The descriptive paper will carry 50 marks and the time duration will be 30 minutes. Earlier, the total time duration for descriptive paper was 60 minutes.

PHASE 3: GROUP DISCUSSION AND PERSONAL INTERVIEW


The candidates who clear the cutoff score for the Main Examination would then be called for a group discussion and personal Interview test where the
candidates will have to face an Interview board. The Group Discussion will carry 20 marks and Interview will carry 30 marks. The aggregate marks of
candidates qualifying in both the Objective Tests and the Descriptive Test will be arranged in descending order in each category. Adequate number of
candidates in each category, as decided by the Bank will be called for Group Discussion and Interview. The qualifying marks in Group Discussion and
Interview will be decided by the Bank.

Number of Attempts in SBI PO examination 2016:


The number of attempts in SBI PO examination has also been included in the notification this year. Candidates who have already appeared for the maximum
number of chances permissible are not eligible to apply. The number of chances will be counted from the examination held on 18.04.2010. Appearing in
Preliminary Examination will not be counted as a chance.

SBI Clerk Exam Pattern


Structure of SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2016
For the perusal of the candidates appearing in the SBI Clerk 2016 examination, the structure of the exam pattern has been described in the below write-up
Online Examination: The candidates will have to sit for an online examination in SBI Clerk 2016. They will be provided a system to solve the question
papers. The duration for the online written test in the preliminary examination is 1 hour. While the duration for the online test in the main examination is 2
hour 40 minutes. Keeping in mind the time duration, the candidates will have to solve their papers accordingly. It is advised that the candidates should go for
the online speed test regularly to boost up their speed.
Preliminary Examination: SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2016 for Preliminary exam consists of 100 objective questions which need to be solved within 1 hour time
duration. The exam carries a total of 100 marks. The questions will be asked from various sections, including English Language, Numerical Ability and
Reasoning Ability. The Candidates will have to qualify in each section.

Main Examination: The time duration for SBI Clerk Main Examination is 2 hour 40 minutes. The exam pattern for SBI Clerk 2016 for main examination will
consist of 190 objective-type questions of 200 marks. The questions will be divided into various sections General / Financial Awareness, General English,
Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude.
Negative Marking: The candidate should remember that there is a negative marking for the wrong answer in the SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2016. 1/4th mark
will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Objective type questions: There will be objective type questions in the SBI Clerk Exam Pattern. There will be objective type questions in each section and the
candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
Interview (subject to Govt. of India approval): Candidates who will qualify in the main examination will be placed according to their marks in descending
order in respective categories. Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage mark as decided by the bank to be considered for final selection.
Test of knowledge of official / local language in SBI Clerk exam pattern 2016: Candidates who have studied official (local) language and have produced 10th
standard mark sheet/certificate having evidence for the same, will be exempted from the language test. For others, language test will be conducted at the time
of interview.
Important Note: The scores obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary exam will not be considered for the preparation of the final merit list. Only the
scores obtained in the Main and Interview will be added for the same.
