IBPS PO SYLLABUS 2016 WITH PATTERN FOR BOTH PRE & MAIN EXAM
IBPS had announced exam pattern of PO exam. Check latest syllabus / exam pattern below.
Preliminary exam will have questions of low level to sort out candidates while Main exam will be difficult.
All the candidates who successfully register themselves under CWE PO/MT-V will be called for Preliminary Examinations. Based on Pre exam,
candidates will be shortlisted & called for Main Examinations.
There will be 100 questions & 3 sections in the Preliminary Examination with 1 hour duration.
The marks obtained in the Preliminary examination will not be considered for preparing the final merit list.
Marks obtained in the Main Examination will only be considered for short listing for interview.

Important Point to Note Marks obtained by the candidates in the IBPS Clerk 2016 Main examination will only be considered for short-listing for Interview
and preparation of final merit list.
The stages of recruitment involved under the SBI PO Exam Pattern 2016 are as follows:
Phase 1: Preliminary Examination
Phase 2: Main Examination
Phase 3: Group Discussion and Interview
The candidates should note that their participation in every other stage except the Phase 1 is subject to their qualification through a cutoff score which the SBI
brings out just after the examination depending upon the constitutional affirmative policy.

Objective Test:
SBI PO Main Examination will consist of Objective Tests for 200 marks and Descriptive Test for 50 marks.
Both the Objective and Descriptive Tests will be online. Candidates will have to answer Descriptive Test by typing on the computer.
Immediately after completion of Objective Test, Descriptive Test will be administered.
The objective test will be for 3-hour duration consisting of 4 sections of total 200 marks.
The Objective Test will have separate timing for every section.
The candidates are required to qualify in each of the tests by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
For every correct response provided, the candidates would be awarded 1 mark and for every wrong response marks will get deducted. However, no mark
will be deducted for any response.

Step-wise changes observed in the SBI PO Objective test has been illustrated below:
Step 1: Total Time for SBI PO Mains Examination: Previously, the total time for solving objective paper of SBI PO Exam was 2 Hours. But, as per the new
exam pattern, the total time for SBI PO Mains has been extended to 3 Hours.
Step 2: Section-wise time allotment: For SBI PO 2016, there will also be sectional limit on each of the sectional objective paper. The exam will be conducted
online and each section has a timer.
Descriptive Section Pattern:
Along with the objective type question, the Main Exam will have questions in the descriptive format as well. Following are the important points to ponder for
the written examination:
The Descriptive Test will be of 30 minutes duration comprising of 50 marks.
The test will be of English Language (Letter Writing and Essay).
The candidates are required to qualify in the Descriptive Test by securing passing marks, to be decided by the Bank.
Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as
per total marks in Objective Test.
This test will judge the writing skills of the candidates.
Changes observed in Descriptive Test:
The descriptive paper will carry 50 marks and the time duration will be 30 minutes. Earlier, the total time duration for descriptive paper was 60 minutes.

Main Examination: The time duration for SBI Clerk Main Examination is 2 hour 40 minutes. The exam pattern for SBI Clerk 2016 for main examination will
consist of 190 objective-type questions of 200 marks. The questions will be divided into various sections General / Financial Awareness, General English,
Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability and Computer Aptitude.
Negative Marking: The candidate should remember that there is a negative marking for the wrong answer in the SBI Clerk Exam Pattern 2016. 1/4th mark
will be deducted for each wrong answer.
Objective type questions: There will be objective type questions in the SBI Clerk Exam Pattern. There will be objective type questions in each section and the
candidates will have to pass in each of the objective tests.
Interview (subject to Govt. of India approval): Candidates who will qualify in the main examination will be placed according to their marks in descending
order in respective categories. Candidates are required to score a minimum percentage mark as decided by the bank to be considered for final selection.
Test of knowledge of official / local language in SBI Clerk exam pattern 2016: Candidates who have studied official (local) language and have produced 10th
standard mark sheet/certificate having evidence for the same, will be exempted from the language test. For others, language test will be conducted at the time
of interview.
Important Note: The scores obtained by the candidates in the Preliminary exam will not be considered for the preparation of the final merit list. Only the
scores obtained in the Main and Interview will be added for the same.
