I have designed a truss bridge using lines and semi-circles as my main tool to
make my patterns and create my end result. At the begin I had a pretty difficult
time creating a bridge that would have connecting lines and didnt just look like a
bunch of lines placed next to each other. The overall design is pretty simple yet,
was very time consuming to make. My bridge is not open just because I feel bridges
that have an overhead make them some what a little safer and adds a bold look to
the actual bridge. By doing this assignment Ive learned how to design and develop
a bridge using technology that can later be made into a 3-D model. As addressed in
the (NETS) it is the teachers job to show and encourage students on how to
creatively think and develop skills that will allow them to transfer their imagination
and bring their designs to life with the help of technology. It gives students an
opportunity to have innovative minds in which they can create products, buildings,
etc. with computers.
Building bridges helps teach that by successfully working together they can
build a bridge to get them across to the other side. By actually building 3-D bridges
it makes for an interactive learning style that brings several creative minds to
achieve one final product.
I think that building a truss bridge is a great way for students to interact and
put their get minds together to create a fun project together. Another thing that
could be made with the same concept as a truss bridge would be a tower. It can also
be both designed on a computer then later created into a 3-D model.
