Lesson Plan

Lesson: Comic Vocab.


Level: 4-5 grade
Technology standard: Teaches students how to use computer software
(tools and text) to create comic page.
Content standard: Ability to use (paint) tools, type, define, and know part
of speech for each vocabulary word assigned.
Objective: Upon doing and completing this assignment, student will
learning how spell their vocabulary words, identify the part of speech, and
define the term in their own words. Students will learn how to use the
different tools on a computer painting/drawing software to create a picture
that represents each term.
Materials: Any paint or drawing computer software.
Size/Group: This assignment is intended as a one student assignment.
However, students can work together to think of creative and unique ideas
for their drawings.
Procedures: Students will log on to any paint/drawing software. They will
then create a comic book page style layout by make a square for each term.
They will have to leave space at the top for their name and date. Once their
comic book page layout is created they will use the text tool to write and
define the term in their own words at the top of the box. After the students
have completed wring their vocabulary words, identifying the part of speech,
and defining them in their own words they can move on to the drawing. Each
word must be represented by its own picture. In order for the students to
receive full credit they must use the different tools from the drawing software
in each box. The students should use their imagination to create a fun
colorful image that represents each of their vocabulary words.
-Students will not receive credit if color and different tools are not use for
their comic book page. Skill of drawing does not matter, it is creative use of
the software and imagination that is what I am looking for.
