Q1: (a) A three phase system has the following line currents in phasor domain.
I a 1000 Ib 102300 I a 101300 .The unit is Amperes. Note there is no
magnitude unbalance; only phase angle unbalance
Determine the representation of the currents in the sequence domain, by calculating
I a 0 , I a1 , I a 2 ; the zero, positive and negative sequence components of the line currents.
(b)Va 0 , Va1 , Va 2 ; the zero, positive and negative sequence components of the phase
voltages of a system, in Volts, areVa 0 101800 .Va1 5000 Va 2 20900 .
Determine the corresponding unbalanced phase voltagesVan ,Vbn ,Vcn .
(c) The basic relation,Va 012 A1 Vabc uses the sequence components of phase a.
Show that if we use the sequence components of phase b in place of phase a; the
corresponding relation is, Vb012 A1 Vbca .Written in expanded form this is,

Q2: A regular load bus, which supplies power of (0.8+j0.6) p.u. per phase to the load
connected to it. The ideal source voltage is assumed to be 10 .The line has a p.u.

Q3. Three identical single phase transformers are connected together to form a three
phase bank. Each transformer is rated at1.2KV /120V , 7.2KVA , and has a leakage
reactance of 0.05 p.u. A balanced three phase star connected lad of 5 per phase is
connected across the secondary (LV) of the of the bank
Determine the per phase impedance (in and p.u.) seen from the primary side supply,
when the transformer bank is connected as,
(a) star-star
(b) star-delta
(c) delta-star
(d) delta-delta
