Learn Arabic Naturally

.
Hello and welcome! Today were going to continue and talk about
Rule Nr. 2

Which was on the importance of repeating what you listen to in the
language youre learning; the things you can understand when you
listen to them

.
So lets pick up from the previous video. We said that listening is very
important

, , ,
, , ,
I forgot to mention this in the previous video: Things like songs you
can understand, podcasts you can understand, videos like these you
can understand, books as well, audio books, and all that good stuff

2 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,
,
And now lets assume that youve found things you want to listen to
in that language, which you understand and which you want to use to
improve the language youre learning

Which, in your case, is Arabic

: , ,
.
Now comes the second important thing, the first important thing is
listening, the second important thing: is that you repeat what you
listen to

But what do I mean by that?

. .

Lets take one of my videos as an example. Theres the transcription
and the translation. You can understand everything in the video

3 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

.

And then you watch it once. If you watch it once, its not going to
help you a lot and the new words you heard and learned wont stick
well enough in your mind and you might even not understand them to
the fullest

So the better thing you can do would be to go back to and watch these
videos more than once

, ,

And youre gonna say this human being (literally: son of Adam) is
nuts, but not only more than once, but even 5, 10, 20, or even 30 times

Let me give you an example from the Podcasts and things I used to
listen to when I was learning Italian, French, and German, and that
Im currently using to learn Spanish

4 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,

Somewhere around the start of the year 2014 I found the website that
teaches Italian naturally and I downloaded all his Podcasts and
everything he had on his website

,

From then till now, I can honestly say that Ive listening to every
single one of his Podcasts for no less than a hundred times

,

Now youre probably wondering how thats even possible and how it
got to that point, and that I probably neither eat nor sleep and just do
these things

,
But as the days and years go by, all those things accumulate and reach
over a hundred (repetitions)

.
So not only did the new words that I heard stick in my mind to the
point where theyre still stuck in my head today, but even if theres a
certain podcast - he has more than 100 podcasts

5 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,

But even the vocabulary from a certain podcast that I havent listened
to in like 6 months is still stuck in my mind because of how much I
listened to it before those 6 months

And I dont need to go back and listen to that specific podcast again
for me to better remember those certain words

:

And its the same with French and German: The second I find
podcasts or videos of which I can understand more than the half, and
the video doesnt bore me, I liked it, and it captivated my attention

I listen to it once every day.

. ,

Like if today I listen to the same podcast, Im going to listen to it once
a day for a long period of time. Probably for a year, and I do this with
all the languages Im learning.

6 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,
, ,
How I find the time to do this and how I fit it into my life will be the
topic of one of the next videos. Probably Rule Nr. 3 or 4, I cant
remember well

But Im definitely going to talk about it

, ,

So another important thing is that our brain, and this has been
scientifically proven, doesnt consider what we hear as something
important that we want to remember when it listens to it just once

,
But when we interfere and force it to listen to it more than once and it
has this flux of the same new words every day

,
It gets that we want to learn these words, sentences, and expressions,
and that they are important to you. So it commits them to memory and
you can better recall them in the future

7 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,

And when you find yourselves in a situation similar to the situation in
which you heard those things, theyre going to come out naturally and
quicker

...

Like you start connecting these words, sentences, and expressions to
the situations and contexts in which theyre used in real life

,

If when learning a language we just read some verb written in the
corner of a page of some book, were not going to know when to use it
in real life and it wont come out in the same way

,

But if we previously heard native speakers using those words and
sentences in a real life context and situation

Youll find yourself using these words when you find yourself in a
similar situation

8 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,
,
Another thing repetition helps you with is youre not just going to
remember words better, but the more you listen to something.the
pronunciation

The pronunciation

Youd improve your pronunciation since youre listening to them
more than once and youd have a clear idea of how to pronounce them

,
You might even pick up the accent and the way we stress and destress words

.

So repetition has a lot of positive sides. But from another side, its
possible that if you listen to the same thing more than once and repeat
it for a long period of time

9 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,

Its possible that you get bored of it and you wouldnt want to listen to
it another time, although its vocabulary still didnt stick in your mind
well enough and you could use several more repetitions

, ""

So here comes something else into play, which is commitment and
doing it even if you dont feel like it. And thats something that Id
like to talk about in one of the next rules

..
I cant remember which one again

But Id like to talk about it because its really normal; Getting bored
from something if you repeat it a lot

10 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

: :

So a quick sum up of the rules weve seen so far. One: Its really
important to spend your time listening to the language and to find
things you can understand, that interest you, and that you want to
listen to in that language

Two: To repeat those same things for a long period of time so that the
words, expressions, and sentences they contain, and even the accent
and the correction pronunciation, get stuck in your mind and you get
better day by day

and youd end up speaking the language yourselves

, :
,
So how can you organize/manage this? A piece of advice from what I
used to do: Youd choose 2 or 3 podcasts or videos that you want to
apply this on

11 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

; repeating them more than once so that youd learn the vocabulary
they contain and you improve the language

,
You can plan on listening to those 3 videos once a day for like a week
or 2. Itd be better if you do it for a minimum of 2 weeks

:
- -

And then if there are other videos or podcasts you can say to yourself:
Okay after those 2 weeks or the period of time you set for
yourselves Ill start listening to those other things that I chose once a
day every day for this certain period of time

,
At the same time, so that you dont forget - you can do this if youd
like to if you dont want to forget the things youve learned from the
previous videos, the ones you used in the first 2 weeks

12 http://www.learnarabicnaturally.com

,

You could listen to them once every 2 o 3 days while maintaining
your daily listening of the new material for those 2 weeks, or the
period of time you set for yourselves

So I really hope that the audio is clear compared to the last video I did
on this topic, and that you can hear me well and that my voice is high

,

And that I got the idea across to you and that I somehow encouraged
you to give this method a try because if you do give it a shot, youre
really going to see the results

And like I said in the first video, this isnt something that can fail
since weve learned our first language in this same exact way

And since our brain is designed to learn this way
