E-Portfolio Check-in #3 Assignment
For this reflection, I have chosen Project 2 to reflect on. This project
took me a particularly long time to begin. I submitted the initial research
assignment late, because I had gotten sources together but then decided to
change the topic I wanted to work with, at the last minute. This first step
already taught me a lesson-- research your topic ahead of the deadline. Do
not just blindly choose what seems interesting at the last minute, because
when you begin your research and start gathering information, five hours in
you may realize that this is not the topic that you would like to work with.
This project also took a longer time because of the issue of finding
legitimate sources that gave me the information that I wanted. This part
included lots and lots of reading so that I could narrow my working sources
down to eight out of more than 20 articles that I ended up reading through.
In this aspect, I believe that this assignment helped me to improve my
research skills. Mostly, it helped me practice narrowing and filtering my
source material.
My goals for the next project include to submit each step in a timely
manner and to use more scholarly resources. In this project, I think I only
used one or two scholarly articles, as the others felt too long for me to skim

through for the information that I wanted. For my future projects, I hope to
spend more time using more reliable sources using my schools library
databases. I can produce a more accurate, unbiased answer in my
assignments if I can maintain this type of thinking in the future.
