BSF starts Operation Cold along international border
Covering Sriganganagar, Bikaner, Barmer and Jaisalmer in Rajasthan Border Security Force
has launched Operation Cold along the international border. It will continue till January 30.

Aim: To contain any infiltration or intrusion from Pakistan in fog and cold wave weather
conditions in the western desert.

Highlights:

It was scheduled for January 17 has been preponed in view of the Pathankot terror
attack and the high security alert in the country ahead of the Republic Day.

DBT Scheme for Kerosene from April 1, 2016


The government will unveil Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme for kerosene from 1st April
2016, where the users will buy the cooking fuel at market rate but will get financial support
directly in their bank accounts.

The scheme will be implemented in selected 26 districts of 8 states.

In this regard, states be given cash incentive of 75% of subsidy savings during the first
two years, 50% in the third year and 25% in the fourth year.

DISCOM Assurance Yojana (UDAY) scheme.
The electricity distribution utilities in Rajasthan are
1. Jaipur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd

India-France military exercise Shakti-2016 began
Indian and French troops commenced their 8 days counter-terrorism and counterinsurgency joint exercise at the Mahajan field firing range in Bikaner, Rajasthan.

The French contingent comprising 56 personnel of 35th Infantry Regiment of 7th Armoured
Brigade, which had taken part in the Afghan war. It has been led by Maj Thibaut De
Lacoste Lareymondie.

Anti-tank missile Nag successful test fired


After the multipurpose exercises carried out for improving the system, the indigenously-built
third generation anti-tank missile, Nag successfully hit the target 4 km away during a night
trial in the Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan.

Thermal Target System (TTS) developed by a defence laboratory at Jodhpur was used
as target for the missile, which is in the final user configuration.

President Pranab Mukherjee inaugurated the Counter-Terrorism Conference 2016 at
Jaipur. Counter terrorism is considered to be about tactics, weapons, force levels and intelligence
gathering.

Capacity building to prevent attacks through intelligence collection and collation

Development of technological capabilities

Raising of Special Forces and enactment of special laws

Royal state and Heart of India composed SPVs for Smart Cities
As per the statement of Ministry of Urban Development, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh have
leading the charts in establishing the Special Purpose Vehicles (SPV) for the implementation of
smart city plans.

The Ministry of Urban Development will infuse 200 crore for the 20 selected cities only
after SPVs are set up.

Where SPVs have been set up?


SPVs have been set up for five cities which include Jabalpur, Indore and Bhopal in Madhya
Pradesh and Jaipur and Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Madhya Pradesh has set up a 12-member SPV for each of the three cities.

Rajasthan has set up an 11-member SPV for Jaipur and a 13-member body for Udaipur.

The remaining 15 cities will form SPVs in the next two weeks.

World Bank to help Rajasthan in energy reforms


World Bank has pledged to lend to Rajasthan government on energy reforms this decision has
been taken in the aftermath of meeting between World Banks country Director in India Mr. Onno
Ruhl and Rajasthan Chief minister Vasundhara Raje.

The director praised the states effort on energy development and conveyed that
Cooperation work between West Bengal government and Rajasthan government on
energy reforms.

The bank has prepared detailed report focusing energy reforms from conventional and
non-conventional sources.

Vasundhara Raje launches school on wheels for nomadic, tribal children


Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje launched the mobile library-cum-school on wheels.It was
set up by an NGO, Tabar Society.
Aim: To spread awareness about education among the nomadic and tribal children.
About SOW :

The van will move around in Jaipur district, including villages of Luniawas and Goner
area.

It will raise awareness among the nomadic children, especially from Gardiya Lohar
and Ghumantu community (nomads), by exhibiting short audio/videos inspiring
stories using a projector, Paliwal.

Rajasthan inks pact worth Rs 11500 crore


Rajasthan Govt has inked 51 memorandums of understanding worth Rs 11,531.21 crore with
various companies. These pacts are expected to generate direct employment to over 26,000
people in the sectors of industry, agriculture, urban development & housing (UDH), mining and
tourism.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje.

During Resurgent Rajasthan Partnership Summit, the state has signed 295 MoUs
amounting to Rs 3.21 lakh crores cutting across sectors.

Indian Airforce to conduct day-night exercise Iron-fist
Indian Air Force displayed its combat and fire power at Rajasthans Pokhran firing range in a
day & night demonstration. The event comprised six packages depicting six themes in
which more than 180 aircraft, including fighters, transport and helicopters participated.

A MiG-27 aircraft heralded the commencement of the flypast by towing the Ex Iron
Fist banner, which was followed by Supersonic run by the MiG-29 aircraft.

Kachhabali Becomes 1st Liquor-free village in Rajasthan


Kachabali village in Rajsamand district of Rajasthan, has become the first in state to vote in
support of closing down the only liquor shop in the village.

The polling was carried out by the excise department of the state and 94% of
the voters demanded that they want a complete ban on the sale of alcohol in
the village.

World Bank approved to Jordan and Rajasthan


The long-term loan, almost interest free by World Bank of $100 million loan to Jordan for job
creation, comes after Lebanon was also awarded $100 million to ensure universal school
enrolment for Lebanese and Syrian refugee children by 2017.

In an attempt by the international community to improve conditions for refugees in


overburdened regional host Jordan will get a cheap $100 million loan to help create
100,000 jobs for Syrian refugees and its own citizens.

World Bank approved $250 million loan to Support Electricity Distribution Sector
Reforms in Rajasthan
The World Bank Board granted Long term Loan of $250 million Development Policy Loan for
Rajasthan.

The loan, from the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), has
a 5-year grace period, and a maturity of 18 years.

Satish Mittal sworn-in as Rajasthan HC CJ


The President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Ajit Singh, Judge of the Rajasthan High
Court,to be the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court

Justice Satish Kumar Mittal was sworn in as Chief Justice of the Rajasthan High Court.
The oath was administered by Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh.

Basant Bahadur Singh Rana clinched gold in 50 Km race walk in National Championship held
at Jaipur in Rajasthan, the winner clocked 4 hours seven minutes and 24 seconds.

The Delhi hailed walker could not achieve the revised Olympics Qualification time of
4:06:00, he must have disappointed with his performance as he would not be eligible to
walk in Rio Olympics this time.

However in the 20 Km walk stream as many as seven men walkers breached the
qualification time limit.

Rana has a career best of 3: 56: 48 earlier in the London Olympics that took place in 2012,
which was a national record then.

RBI announces private placement of securities under UDAY scheme


The Banking regulator RBI had announced the private placement of securities for UDAY
scheme adding further boost to the scheme.

RBI has asked the interested market participants to subscribe for securities
before March 30

The special securities under UDAY are being issued by governments of Bihar, Haryana,
Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Punjab and Rajasthan

The scheme is expected to help discoms save around Rs 8 lakh crore in the next three
years

LED based lighting programme named UJALA(Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All)
In an effort to promote measures that can save energy the Union government launches various
programmes.One such important initiative is to provide LED lamps to households and promote its
usage to save energy. The new scheme of LED based lighting has been named UJALA.

Rajasthan becomes the first state in India to clear land title Bill
The Vasundhara Raje-led government has managed to pass the Rajasthan Urban
Land(Certification of Titles) Bills 2016 in the state assembly.
Provisions in the Bill:

The state Descendants in urban areas, which are governed by the municipalities or state
development authorities, can seek a certificate of ownership of their lands by paying
a nominal fee to the state government.

The Provisions in the bill fillip towards good governance and Ease of Doing Business
also the bill will boost land acquisition in the state and also benefit authorities as no
capital expenditure will be required from their end.

Army conducts battle exercise Shatrujeet in Rajasthan


Indian Armys elite STRIKE 1 corps is to conducting a major exercise Shatrujeet in the deserts
of Rajasthan to evaluate the capability of the Army to strike deep into enemy territory in an
integrated air-land battle environment.

Nearly 30,000 soldiers are take part in exercise Shatrujeet to ensure the forces are
provided real war-like situations and are kept in a high state of battle readiness.

The exercise would culminate on April 23.

India to host 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships


India will be hosting the 2018 Commonwealth Judo Championships in Jaipur, besides
organising the Asian Cadet and Asian Junior Judo Championships in September in Kerala
this year.

The Commonwealth Judo Championships was allotted to India, by the Commonwealth


Judo Congress held on April 23rd at Port Elizabeth, South Africa.
