BORROWNG TAGALOG
I remember when I was a college student, I was tasked to compete for the title of
Lakandula during Buwan ng Wika. Basically, it was a pageant, so I didnt know what to
do. I was a first year student, I had stage fright, and most of all, I didnt have a Barong
Tagalog, which deserved to be presented in a pageant. I told my team leader that I
would not be able to join the said pageant because of the aforesaid reasons. However,
to no avail, he did not let me back out.
I was worried I wont be able to represent my team in the pageant. I was shy on
asking my parents for a new barong for a non-academic activity. So I asked for the help
of my team; luckily, someone was as big as me, had a Barong Tagalog to spare. I
clearly remember its elegance; it had brown-like color with outstanding needlework
design. My problem was solved. Somehow, the barong I borrowed helped me overcome
my stage fright. I proudly represented my team, and in turn, they totally supported me. I
was able to win the title of Lakandula, and especially, the Best in Barong Tagalog
Award. All thanks to the borrowed chic Barong Tagalog.
