Final Exam Topics

Fall 2015

HW 1
calculate mean and standard deviation
chart a histogram
HW 2
probability function
cumulative probability
(These will be simple functions with the intent to investigate comprehension of the
concept of probability as opposed to the concept of advanced calculus skills.)
HW 3
probability and normal distribution
Z-table will be given (Dont be overly concerned about precision. Three digits of
significance is fine and two is usually okay.)

HW 4
predictions
standard error of the mean
using a t-table
degrees of freedom
(The t-table was not used on HW 4, but all analyses on the final exam (other than direct
probability) will use the t-table. T values will generally be given on the final exam, but
there may be one question that investigates your ability to extract a T value.)
HW 5
The final will not have any direct questions about a hypothesis test, but it may be helpful to
understand the concept. All inferences on the final exam will be conducted using confidence
intervals.
HW 6
confidence intervals
T-values will be given
HW 7
comparison of means of independent data
assume equal variance
equations for standard deviation and standard error will be given
be prepared to describe the difference between:
pooled and un-pooled
independent and paired
HW 8
linear regression
HW 9
nonlinear regression
HW 10
multiple linear regression
interpretation of Minitab regression output
