1. Do you think the story would have ended differently if Theo had remembered to put
brakes on his go-cart?
Ans: Yes, the story would have ended differently. If he had remembered to put the brakes,
he might have lost the go-cart race.
2. Theo stomped deafeningly up the stairs. Why was he stomping? What do you think
happened just before the story started?
Ans: He was stomping deafeningly up the stairs because he was very angry. Theo is very
angry of his father for not letting him to do things his own way after many years.
3. From the description in the story, imagine what Theos go-cart would have looked like
and do a drawing of it.

4. Good writers tend to use adverbs sparingly, allowing the verbs to do all the work. Notice
how the author uses strong ,active verbs to convey the power of Theos anger :stomped ,
kicked ,slammed ,wrested ,glared ,flung ,exploded , snapped .

Ans: stomped, slammed, flung and snapped.
b. Do you think the adverbs are necessary?

Ans: Yes, it is.
