So how to you get points and how to successfully complete the course? Well, there are 4
graded assignments throughout the first 4 weeks of instructional content.
Each assignment is worth 30 points for a total of 120 points, which is half of the total points
available in the course.
The other half of the available points come from the final exam. And just like every
openSAP course, you need at least half of the maximum points available-in this case 120--to pass the course and receive your record of achievement. Now just a
brief mention of what is required for you to participate effectively in this course.
The good news is: not very much.We will frame everything we discuss within the shared
context of SAP systems and SAP processes.
So it is best if you have a basic understanding of how business processes are typically
depicted in an SAP system.
We've worked to make this course intuitive and achievable for learners of all backgrounds.
The course is really meant to be for most everyone.
Also, if you haven't done so already, you may want to check out earlier SAP S/4HANA
courses.
But this course is self-contained and includes the appropriate introduction to SAP S/4HANA
so that you get a clear understanding of what you need to know
before implementing and transitioning to SAP S/4HANA.Okay, enough now on course
logistics.
Let's jump in and take a look at how SAP S/4HANA is at the core of embracing the digital
economy.SAP S/4HANA allows you to digitize beyond the core and embrace the digital
economy.
We have reimagined the Business Suite to help you reimagine your business.SAP
S/4HANA allows you to realize an end-to-end digital business,
combining the opportunities of the digital economy with the process simplification and the
capabilities necessary to achieve digital transformation.
SAP S/4HANA enables instant insight. It enables contextual information and a personalized
experience.
SAP S/4HANA takes advantage of the power of data with scalable, real-time, and predictive
capabilities.
Also, you can drill down to the finest level of granularity with amazing responsiveness and
accuracy.Would you like to see SAP S/4HANA in action?
Let me provide you with a glimpse of some of the key innovations areas, all encapsulated in
one short demo:
the simplified data model, the sleek Fiori user interface, the completely re-imagined
business processes, and the embedded reporting that comes with it.
We have intentionally kept it short, so it shouldn't take more than an elevator ride to show it
to you.
So let's roll the demo and I will catch up with you in the next unit.In this demo, we will take a
look at the accounts receivable process, in particular, how to manage disputes.
Our user is Martha, the accounts receivable manager. Her job is to oversee accounts
receivables worldwide,
and in particular to manage disputes in North America.Let's accompany her on the journey
to resolve one of these disputes.
The first thing Martha does is she logs on, of course. And the first thing she sees after she
has logged on is the Fiori launchpad.
It contains all the tiles necessary for her job, for her daily routines, and the ones she can
access based on her authorizations.
Of course, you can adjust the tiles and authorizations as you see fit.Now the first thing she
does in the morning is she wants to assess the situation
and take a look at the accounts receivable page and the overview. So where does she go?
She clicks on Accounts Receivable Overview

00:08:11
00:08:19
00:08:27
00:08:35
00:08:45
00:09:01
00:09:11

and goes to the Fiori overview page on accounts receivable. The Fiori overview page is an
interactive summary page
that contains the most necessary functions for her daily routine. It contains analytical data as
well as transactional data.
So in this example, on the left you see an analytical card where she can access data
directly from general ledger
to provide an analytical overview of the status of the accounts receivable. In the middle, we
see a list card and it presents a list of customers with the current number of invoices.
And to the right, Martha can see a list of customers disputing an invoice. From within the
Fiori overview page, I can access a BI dashboard
and can see the analytical information in more detail. So I click on the analytical card and I
get to this BI dashboard. What does it show me?
I can compare here the overview amount and the future amount against the number of
days.Oh, and by the way, here's a good example of what you get with predelivered best
practices.

00:09:21

The graph is available with these settings of 30, 60, and 90-day period ranges ready to use,
due to the best practices. In the lower section of the dashboard, you can see the amounts of
the disputes.

00:09:33

the number of disputes, as well as the countries.Of course, you can change the data points
and interpret the results accordingly.
Now let's take a look at Canada. Hmm, there are two dispute cases.Martha would like to
follow up on this dispute case and she goes back to the Fiori overview page,
her main page for her navigation in her daily work.Back in the overview page, she looks at
the Process Receivables and enters Canada.
At the top of the list, there's Acme Corp in Toronto. They have 7 outstanding
invoices.Martha drills down and clicks on the Process Receivables card to investigate the
issue further.

00:09:42
00:09:53
00:10:08

00:10:21

By the way, did you notice there's no need to go back to the Fiori launchpad. From the Fiori
overview page, I can directly drill down to the transaction that is relevant to pursue the
issue.

00:10:34

Now what do I see here in this process receivables transaction? I can see that there are 7
invoices roughly equating $60,000
and I can see that there is 1 dispute. Also, in the upper-right corner, I can see the credit
utilization
and it allows me to monitor if a customer is close to its credit limit. Also, if I would like to do
so, I can even enter a contact person right in the context of the transaction.
Now that's not my matter here. I really want to pursue the dispute. So I can see there's 1
dispute and I click on the Disputes tab to look at it in some more detail.
I can see a note has already been entered on the account, as someone is working on the
case. And by the way, these interactive notes are easily accessible and they are updated in
real time.

00:10:43
00:10:50
00:11:00
00:11:14

00:11:24
00:11:34

00:11:48
00:11:59
00:12:07

So now I can check the issue with the dispute. Martha clicks on the dispute and there is the
note mentioning there's an issue with the delivery.
Also, by the way, preconfigured dispute reason codes like late payment, partial payment,
and shipping issues are included with the SAP best practices. And of course, you can add
other customer codes as you see fit.
Well, to resolve the problem quickly, Martha picks up the phone and calls the customer. The
customer states that the merchandise has been delivered, but with a delay.
So what does she do? The customer provides the FedEx number so Martha can check with
her shipping department what caused the delay.
And to expedite the process, she updates the note to her shipping department. After a quick
discussion, Martha agrees to waive the shipping fees on their next delivery.

00:12:17
00:12:26
00:12:40
00:12:45
00:12:54
00:13:06
00:13:19
00:13:29
00:13:41
00:13:50

If the customer would need a confirmation, she could send it directly from this screen. So
now let's cut and paste the note with the FedEx number.
As we have resolved the issue, we can set the status from In Process to Closed. And save
the changes.
Now I can go back, take a look at my list of invoices.
The list of invoices has been increased to 8, as the shipping dispute has been resolved and
there are no disputes left.
Also, the overall amount has gone up to $80,000, which is equivalent to the amount of the
outstanding invoice that has now been added to the list.
Martha can now go back to the S/4HANA overview pages and there we see the 8 invoices
for Acme Corp.
And Acme, by the way, does no longer appear on the Manage Dispute Cases list
card.Martha opens the dashboard one more time to review the remaining open issues.
Here she can see that the number of disputes in Canada now is reduced to 1 from originally
2 and of course, also the amount has been reduced by $20,000.
Martha now leaves the dashboard and comes back to the main S/4HANA overview page,
namely the Fiori Accounts Receivable overview page.
With that, her dispute has been resolved and I would like to conclude the demo.See you in
the next unit.

Week 1 Unit 2
00:00:09
00:00:21
00:00:29

Welcome to week 1, unit 2 of the Implementation of SAP S/4HANA course. In this unit we
will focus on the transition scenarios to SAP S/4HANA.
After completing this learning unit, you will have an overview of the three transition
scenarios to SAP S/4HANA
and you will understand the typical services that are associated with an SAP S/4HANA
implementation.First, let's give you a video preview of some of the key terminology and
central themes

00:00:40

that you will encounter in the transition to SAP S/4HANA.Let's roll the tape!

00:00:46

By now, you know SAP S/4HANA, the next generation business suite, breaks the limits of
the past with a simple data model,
modern user experience, and complete choice of deployment to reimagine your business in
the digital economy.
But now you are asking, How do I get there? Your journey can follow any of three scenarios.

00:01:02
00:01:08
00:01:18

00:03:44

The first scenario is starting fresh with a new implementation.Implement SAP HANA and
SAP S/4HANA on premise.
Or for a "Cloud First" strategy, simply subscribe to the SAP S/4HANA cloud solution of your
choice. Then move data from legacy applications using our proven migration content and
tools.
The second scenario is a system conversion of your existing SAP solution. If you are starting
from ERP 6, running on a non-HANA database,
you can convert to SAP S/4HANA in one step, moving your database and installing the new
code with SAP Software Update Manager.
Use the SAP HANA Enterprise Cloud to jump-start the process by having SAP or our
partners manage your infrastructure.
For customers already running ERP 6 on SAP HANA, all you need to do is apply the new
SAP S/4HANA functionality
to enjoy the value of instant insight across your business.During a system conversion,
compatibility checks are done on your custom code
with strategies and tools ready to ensure a smooth transition. This third scenario is a
landscape transformation, such as system consolidation.
For example, install SAP S/4HANA and use it to consolidate financial transactions from all
across your enterprise.
You get the full benefits, such as universal journal, to take advantage of centralized
information across your business.
SAP has simplified the transition to S/4HANA with faster, less service-intensive initial
implementation in the cloud
or on premise, rapid adoption of innovations throughout the entire product lifecycle,
and an extensible framework for partners.SAP Activate is the innovation adoption
framework for SAP S/4HANA.
No matter which scenario you choose, SAP Activate provides best practices, guided
configuration tools, and proven methodologies to accelerate your time to value.
Plus, both SAP and our partners are ready with prepackaged service and support solutions
to help you plan and implement SAP S/4HANA as part of your digital transformation.Check
out the SAP Journey Map to get started now.
You will find the key information you need, including trial versions, whitepapers, roadmaps,
and much more.

00:07:44
00:07:55
00:08:02

Now let's jump into a bit more detail regarding the three transition scenarios that were
presented in the video.First, there is the new implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
This is if you are coming from a non-SAP legacy system or if you want to do a net-new
implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
New implementation is for you if you want to use the transition to SAP S/4HANA as an
opportunity to re-think your business processes for the digital economy
and you want to use SAP S/4HANA as a trigger to start this re-examination.The new
implementation scenario includes migration of transactional as well as master data to SAP
S/4HANA.
Second, there is the system conversion. This transition scenario targets you and is for you if
you want to change your current SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA.
This scenario is for you if you want to leverage your existing business process
implementations in SAP ERP. With a system conversion, the transition path is to pursue a
technical upgrade
and do a complete migration of SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA.And finally, the third option is
landscape transformation.
Landscape transformation is for you if you want to consolidate your system landscape or
carve out selected entities (such as a company code) as your first step into using SAP
S/4HANA.
You then re-implement this carved out company code on SAP S/4HANA.Now I know this
high-level overview might sound a bit abstract.
Let's take a look at each of these scenarios in more detail.Let's start out with the new
implementation.
The new implementation targets those of you who want to get off your legacy system,
whether it is an SAP ERP system or non-SAP system,
and you want to implement SAP S/4HANA from scratch. This scenario of new
implementation is also known as the greenfield approach.
The benefits for you as a customer is that you can re-engineer your processes on SAP
S/4HANA and simplify, taking advantage of the latest and greatest in ready-to-run business
processes on SAP S/4HANA.
You can use predefined data migration and best practices to start you off through a guided
implementation. You can introduce SAP S/4HANA in a fast and cost-effective way
as well as do rapid adoption of additional new innovations down the line.In a new
implementation, you can take full advantage of SAP Activate,
the innovation adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA, which we will introduce in more detail
in unit 3 and unit 4 of this first week.
So then what impacts the duration of a new implementation scenario? It is of course the
volume and the complexity of your data migration
as well as the number of data migration objects. And not only the data migration aspect
determines the duration of the new implementation,
but also the volume and scope of business processes that you want to implement on SAP
S/4HANA.How do you approach a new implementation?
Well, for on-premise you first install SAP S/4HANA with the software provisioning manager
and then you need to do an initial data load from a source system.
This can be done either via file upload from a legacy system or, if the source is SAP, via
direct system connection.
The tools used are SAP Data Services for on premise or the SAP Landscape
Transformation for the cloud.
Now that we have a basic understanding of new implementation, let's take a look at the
system conversion transition scenario.
System conversion is for you if you want to convert your current system into an SAP
S/4HANA system. This brings an SAP ERP core system to SAP S/4HANA.

00:08:14
00:08:24
00:08:33
00:08:43
00:08:49
00:08:56
00:09:06
00:09:14
00:09:25
00:09:31
00:09:42
00:09:48

00:11:32
00:11:42
00:11:53

00:12:05
00:12:16

And this is the case whether it is already using SAP HANA as a database or if your SAP
ERP system is on any database.
The benefit is you can basically go to SAP S/4HANA without a reimplementation. There is
no disruption of your existing business processes.
And once you have done the conversion, you can you reevaluate your existing process
flows and you can adapt them as you see fit.
The parameters that influence the duration of a system conversion are technical as well as
functional.
You need to consider the number of systems that you have in your current ERP landscape
and that want to bring to SAP S/4HANA.
And of course, also the actual size of your productive source database. In terms of the
functional influencers,
you need to consider, for example, how many company codes you have, how many ledgers,
and so forth.
Now let's take a look at the steps that you need to do when you do a system
conversion.First of all, you need to check your add-ons,
business functions, and potential industry solutions using the maintenance planner. Why?
That is to ensure the SAP S/4HANA compatibility for each of them.A de-installation option is
available for enabled SAP and partner add-ons
if the compatibility is not given.Once you have done those checks for add-ons and for
industries,
the next step is a pre-check to identify further preparation steps, like, for example, the
activation of the customer-vendor integration.
Also, an optional check that you can conduct at any time is a custom code check to ensure
compatibility with SAP S/4HANA.
Your custom code continues to run provided that the simplifications coming with SAP
S/4HANA and its new data model will allow it.The custom code check tool identifies conflicts
where, for example,
custom programs access data structures that have changed with SAP S/4HANA.The
custom code checks are based on the simplification database content,
which contains all incompatible changes of the data model, including business functions in
SAP S/4HANA.
Once you have completed all checks and adjusted your custom code, the third step is to run
the actual conversion.
You can run the actual conversion in one step using the database migration option from the
Software Update Manager.
With that, you have performed a system conversion. Now let's take a look at the final of the
three transition scenarios to SAP S/4HANA.
The third scenario is the landscape transformation. And landscape transformation is for you
if want to consolidate your landscape
or selectively bring data into an SAP S/4HANA system. One example of this kind of selective
transformation is Central Finance.
In this case of Central Finance, you can take advantage of the universal journal and of
statutory reporting. Another example is the selective carve-out of a company code
which you want to bring to SAP S/4HANA as a front runner in your enterprise transition to
SAP S/4HANA.What are the benefits?
The benefits are such that with landscape transformation you can do a selective
transformation to SAP S/4HANA. This allows you to do a phased approach of focusing on
areas with high returns on investment
and a lower total cost of implementation. By consolidating your system with harmonized and
simplified processes
you will reduce the number of systems in your landscape and you will also lower your total
cost of ownership and improve the quality of your master data.

00:15:23

00:15:35

Project parameters that influence the duration are, for example, the number of selected
units you wish consolidate or the number of company codes you want to carve out.
So what are the steps to consider in a landscape transformation? Of course there is the
consolidation of clients from different source systems
into one new or existing SAP S/4HANA system using the system landscape transformation.
And then there is the selective data transformation, where you carve out single entities and
migrate selective applications such as Central Finance.
Beyond this point, landscape transformation is a scenario that we will not cover in detail in
this course on SAP S/4HANA implementation.
We will focus more on system conversion as well as new implementation in the cloud and
new implementation on premise.
Later, in the resources section, we will provide some links to where you can find more
information
on the landscape transformation transition scenario to SAP S/4HANA as well as the other
two transition scenarios.
Finally, let's take a brief look at the services path to supporting the three transition
scenarios. We are here showing a somewhat simplified view of the types of services
that SAP Global Service and Support offers to assist you on a safe and individualized
journey to SAP S/4HANA. Obviously the many knowledgeable and dedicated partners in the
SAP ecosystem will have their own roadmaps to share,
so think of this roadmap here as an example from SAP.SAP's service offering starts with a
comprehensive planning portfolio.
As a result of the planning, you will have an understanding of which transition scenario
applies to you and what your implementation strategy shall be.
SAP Global Service and Support offers its services as part of premium engagements and
applies SAP Activate for the life cycle of the implementation.
SAP Activate was mentioned in the video shown earlier and we will dedicate the next couple
of units to a more detailed introduction to SAP Activate.
The SAP services portfolio focuses on establishing the appropriate transition scenario to
SAP S/4HANA and on planning the journey with you.
Based on the outcome of the prepare and explore phases, the appropriate transition
scenario to SAP S/4HANA is realized.
And additional innovations might be implemented after the transition. Now, with this we will
conclude this unit on the SAP S/4HANA transition scenarios.
You should now be familiar with the three transition scenarios to SAP S/4HANA as well as
understand the typical services that are associated with an SAP S/4HANA implementation.
Bye for now and see you in the next unit where we will start the introduction to SAP
Activate.

Week 1 Unit 3
00:00:09

Hello and welcome to week one, unit three of the openSAP course S/4HANA
Implementation. In this unit, we will focus on SAP Activate, the innovation adoption
framework for SAP S/4HANA.

00:00:25

After completing this learning unit, you will understand that SAP Activate is the innovation
adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA implementations.
And you will understand the innovations that SAP is introducing with SAP
Activate.Remember in the previous unit, we talked about the transition scenarios to SAP
S/4HANA.

The three transition scenarios are new implementation, system conversion, and landscape
transformation.
So let's welcome to the stage SAP Activate. What does SAP Activate provide to you related
to these three transition scenarios?
The goal of SAP Activate is to provide customers with a faster and less service- intensive
initial implementation whether it is in the cloud or whether it is on premise.
In addition, SAP Activate has the goal to provide customers with the ability to do rapid
innovations and rapid adoption of innovations throughout the entire product lifecycle.
In other words, once you have completed an initial implementation of SAP S/4HANA, you
might go back at a later point in time and apply additional innovations
from the wealth of SAP S/4HANA new or improved business scenarios and implement
them.By applying SAP Activate, you put yourself in a position where you can go back
and adopt and adapt more business scenarios and enjoy the benefits of a faster and less
service-intensive implementation. What does this lead to?
It leads us to reduced time to value, whether it is for the initial implementation or whether it
is for subsequent implementations, and a reduced total cost of ownership.
So now let's look at the implementation of SAP S/4HANA for the new implementation
transition scenario. In a new implementation, whether it is in the cloud or whether it is on
premise,
the first thing you do is you want to start with some planning, either by yourself, with the
system implementor of your choice,
or with SAP Global Services and Support to assist you with the planning of your
implementation.
In this discover phase, SAP provides you with a trial that helps you to explore which
innovations are available in SAP S/4HANA
and which business processes might be of interest to you.The cloud trial you acquire with a
temporary click-through license.
The trial focuses on select business processes: finance or project services. If you are
interested in the on-premise version of SAP S/4HANA,
we also offer a trial which you can either get via the Cloud Appliance Library or on Blu-ray. It
is a 30-day trial period and you get a full set of end-to-end business processes.
One thing to mention about the trial: You have a help functionality that guides you through
the product and explains to you
what the novelties are, what are the innovations in SAP S/4HANA.So while experiencing the
trial, you are guided through the environment that you're operating
Now let's say you enjoy the trial. You are ready to make the next steps in your journey to
SAP S/4HANA.
What is next? You start out with a model company. SAP provides you with various model
companies for SAP S/4HANA.
For example, we provide a model company for marketing, we provide a model company for
project services,
and we provide you with a model company for enterprise management.Whatever your
starting point is,

00:04:31
00:04:38
00:04:48

00:05:04
00:05:21

00:05:34

00:07:27
00:07:39
00:07:49
00:07:59
00:08:10

with the model company you get an environment that is preconfigured. The business
processes are ready to run.
You will benefit from processes that are optimized for SAP S/4HANA.The model company
contains an enterprise structure.
It has predefined master data and it comes with ready-to-run business processes, including
the respective reporting content and the integration processes to other SAP cloud solutions.
Once you have explored the model company, you pursue a fit/gap analysis. Finally, if you
are on premise, you could record your gaps in SAP Solution Manager 7.2 if you wish.
Once you've done the fit/gap analysis and you are aware of which business processes are
relevant for you, you proceed to the next step, where you scope and where you configure
your solution.
When you are on premise, you will activate the business processes relevant for you.In the
cloud, you can use the guided configuration capabilities available with SAP S/4HANA.
Oh, one word on configuration: We have introduced a new concept which we call selfservice configuration.
Self-service configuration targets business users that can adapt and view basic settings,
such as an organizational structure or master data settings,
and can configure them via business-user- centric applications.Let's say now you have
scoped and configured your solution. Then what is next?
One of the key things in a new implementation is the topic of data migration.Data migration
is often costly and, by the way, time consuming.
And with SAP Activate, the innovation adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA, we have prethought the data migration.
If your starting point is an SAP ERP system, we have done the source-to-target mapping
where we provide to you
the predefined mappings from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA with SAP Activate to migrate
your data to the target business objects in SAP S/4HANA.
If your starting point is a non-SAP legacy solution, we provide you with a canonical format
and from that canonical format,
SAP provides the mapping to the target business objects in SAP S/4HANA.In addition to
providing you with the migration content,
we also have integration for SAP Best Practices with the SAP-adjacent cloud solutions,
such as SAP SuccessFactors, SAP Ariba, or SAP Cloud for Customer.Once you have
handled migration and integration,
you have taken some big steps in your implementation. Now comes another ingredient of
any implementation which is time-consuming and resource-consuming
and that is often underestimated or crunched in as an afterthought.I am talking about the
onboarding of users,
whether it is key users that will function in an expert role within the new solution or whether
it is end users that might be just casual users.
What we provide to you is onboarding and learning content for both casual and expert
roles. We go with role-based learning content and we make sure that we put a particular
focus on business users,

00:08:24

because their understanding and their grasp of the solution is key to endorsement of the
business. Of course, more in-depth content and moderated learning is available on the SAP
Learning Hub.

00:08:39

Finally, as the last step in this new implementation scenario, you can benefit from an SAP
Solution Manager integration
to provide monitoring, support, and operations in the Solution Manager. That is where you
can put in your configuration documentation.
That is where we provide process models of the SAP Best Practices that you consume with
SAP S/4HANA and of course, project implementation guidance.

00:08:47
00:08:59

10

00:09:12

Once you've completed this initial implementation that we just showcased in our
walkthrough, the idea is that you can continue to innovate and go back to the model
company,

00:09:23

do another fit/gap analysis in your solution, and configure and adapt additional business
processes. So with SAP Activate, we set you up for continuous innovation
with the understanding that the world continuously changes and you can take continuous
advantage of the new innovations that SAP provides with the SAP S/HANA solution.
All right. I think we now have a good understanding of new implementations.Let's switch
and let's focus for a while on system conversion,
another one of the three scenarios for how you can transition to SAP S/4HANA.Remember,
system conversion has the starting point where you, as a customer,

00:09:37
00:09:52
00:10:02

00:10:13
00:10:24
00:10:34
00:10:43
00:10:53
00:11:02
00:11:11

00:12:22
00:12:32

00:12:46
00:12:58
00:13:08

you have an existing ERP system and you want to leverage your previous investments in
the business processes you already have implemented in SAP ERP.
You want to bring these business processes forward to the new world of SAP S/4HANA and
then, once these business processes are converted, to run on S/4HANA
you want to do additional innovation. So let's take a look at system conversion.
As was the case for new implementation, with system conversion you can experience a trial
of SAP S/4HANA and you can get a good idea of what is included.
And you can explore the business processes that you eventually might want to adopt on top
of your converted SAP S/4HANA system.
So let's say you have explored the trial and now you want to start the system conversion
process.What is next?
Well, next you have to handle the technical preparation steps in order to get to SAP
S/4HANA.So you will check for add-ons and industries using the maintenance planner
to ensure compatibility with SAP S/4HANA.Also, there is a de-installation functionality
available for enabled partner and SAP addto ensure compatibility.Another preparation step is to check for custom code.
There is a a custom code check tool that identifies scope and data structures and conflicts
based on the simplification database content.
And finally, once you have done all the preparation steps, that's when you run a test
conversion.
If the test conversion is successful, you do the actual conversion and you do the cutover. In
the cutover, you use the database migration option from the Software Update Manager.
Once the system conversion is done, now is the time where you can explore if you wish to
do additional innovation on top of your SAP S/4HANA solution.
You can add and you can configure complementary best practices, meaning new business
processes that are already ready to run,
bringing together the transactional as well as the reporting world of SAP S/4HANA.Also, you
can use the SAP Solution Manager for operations, for monitoring, and for support, of
course.
With that we have done a run-through of the system conversion as well as the new
implementation and you have a basic understanding as to how these scenarios work.
In the next unit, we will look at SAP Activate in more detail, including best practices, guided
configuration, and the methodology.
Bye for now and see you in the next unit.

Welcome to week one, unit 4 of the Implementation of SAP S/4HANA course. In this unit we
will continue to focus on SAP Activate,
the innovation adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA.We have a lot of good stuff to cover.
So let me briefly provide you with an overview of what we will focus on in this learning unit.
We will be introducing you to the pillars of SAP Activate.
First, we will get you familar with the SAP Best Practices embedded in SAP
S/4HANA.Second, we will make sure you understand the concepts of guided configuration.
And third, you will get to know the SAP Activate methodology. So far, we have discussed the
transition scenarios to SAP S/4HANA.
Specifically, we introduced to you the three transition scenarios. Now we will focus on the
SAP Activate pillars
and how these three pillars will help you accelerate your journey to SAP S/4HANA whether
it is in the cloud or whether it is on premise.
Remember in the previous unit, I showed you how you can start from a model company and
based on that model company, you can configure the scope of the solution.
This approach of configuring a model company was for the new implementation transition
scenario. Now let's lift the hood and look at what is inside such a model company
and what the various ingredients are that you need to really make your configuration
happen and ready to run.Once we have examined the SAP Best Practices,
we will get familiar with the tooling aspect of SAP Activate, the guided configuration. And
then later on in this unit, we will also cover the SAP Activate methodology.
But for now, let's get started with the SAP Best Practices. When you start out with a model
company from which you configure your SAP S/4HANA solution,
you do have several options. There is a model company for SAP S/4HANA cloud marketing,
a model company for SAP S/4HANA cloud project services, and there is a model company
for cloud enterprise management,
as well as on-premise enterprise management. What is behind these model companies?
Behind these model companies are SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA. These are
ready-to-run business processes for SAP's new digital core
and, as I mentioned previously, they are available on premise and in the cloud. With such a
model company, you will get business process definitions and a standard configuration,
including data structures, end user enablement, organizational structures, and of course
master data.
The functional scope? Well, the functional scope is contingent on and related to which
model company you start with. If you start out with our SAP S/4HANA cloud marketing
model company,

00:03:19

you will get, obviously, a marketing scope. If you use SAP S/4HANA cloud enterprise,

00:03:24

it will include a cross-industry focus on core finance, streamlined procure to pay, optimized
order to cash, and accelerated plan to product.
If you choose the SAP S/4HANA project services model company, the scope is project
services and managed services.
Okay. Now you have an overview as to what model companies are provided for SAP
S/4HANA. Now as mentioned earlier when we looked at SAP Activate as your innovation
adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA,

00:03:34
00:03:43

00:03:58

you learned that SAP Activate also addresses the migration aspects of a new
implementation. And the provisioning of these migration best practices can really help you
accelerate your journey to SAP S/4HANA.

00:04:13

If you go for a new implementation scenario, the SAP Best Practices for data migration to
SAP S/4HANA are provided

12

00:04:22
00:04:33
00:04:44
00:04:52
00:05:06
00:05:15
00:05:26
00:05:35
00:05:43
00:05:52

00:06:07
00:06:19
00:06:28

00:06:41
00:06:50

00:07:03
00:07:14
00:07:20
00:07:31

whether you migrate to the cloud or to the on- premise enterprise management scope of
SAP S/4HANA.The migration best practices include interface configurations,
also validation rules and data quality content. This allows you to take care of your data
quality before bringing your data to SAP S/4HANA.
It includes best practices for reconciliation in case the data records between the old source
system and the new system seem to differ.
Once again, data migration is covered for the new implementation transition scenario
whether it is on premise or whether it is in the cloud.
Beyond migration, also key to accelerating your journey to SAP S/4HANA is the notion of
integration with other SAP cloud solutions.
SAP realizes that many customers use or are maybe considering other SAP cloud solutions
such as SAP SuccessFactors, the Ariba Network, or SAP Cloud for Customer.
And SAP also realizes that part of a holistic solution is the integration out of the box to these
SAP cloud solutions.
Well, therefore, best practices are provided for integrating SAP S/4HANA with these other
SAP cloud solutions.
The best practices include preconfigured processes as well as data integration content,
interface configurations, mappings, message control,
as well as guidance on connectivity and of course, never to be forgotton, security. So in
short, the SAP Best Practices on the functional side, which are at the core of the model
companies,
the integration best practices and the migration best practices all combined help you
accelerate your journey to SAP S/4HANA.
Now let's take a look at the SAP Activate guided configuration, which is the second pillar of
SAP Activate. So what is guided configuration all about?
For the cloud, it is business-process-oriented and it is the environment to configure the SAP
S/4HANA content. You access the guided configuration via the Manage Your Solution Fiori
app.
You can choose which processes you wish to configure and also apply a process-driven
approach for testing your configured business processes.
You do have a simple view for looking at which business processes you have in scope and
which ones are activated, as well as which country versions are you planning to use and
planning to activate.
Further embedded in the Manage Your Solution Fiori app, you do have an environment for
data migration to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud.
Here you can determine how to access the source, perform the source-to-target field
mapping,
fill the value mapping according to the SAP configuration, and of course validate the data
before the load.
From the Manage Your Solution app, you can take a look at the user training and
onboarding. As mentioned previously, training is a really vital part for the endorsement of the
solution by the users.

00:07:43

Here you have an environment that provides you with an integration to the SAP Learning
Hub.Finally, you have in the Manage Your Solution app an environment to test your
processes

00:07:53

and manage your test cases and test processes. You can create additional test cases. You
can take advantage of the test cases delivered by SAP.
Now let's take a look at the Manage Your Solution app in a short demo together. In this
demo, I would like to share with you the Manage Your Solution app,
which is part of the SAP S/4HANA guided configuration in the cloud. Let's take a look.

00:08:04
00:08:17
00:08:23

So here I have my Manage Your Solution app open, and what is the first thing I see? I see
here we're looking at the country version for United Kingdom.

13

00:08:32
00:08:45
00:08:55

Well, wonderful. Now let's take a look at what is the solution scope. So let's take a look at
which scope items, which business processes are activated.
I can see a number of scope items such as Procurement Processing, Time Recording, and
also earlier on in our demo, remember
we took a look at accounts receivable with Martha the accounts receivable manager. Here is
Accounts Receivable again so now I am interested as to what is the scope of accounts
receivable here.

00:09:07

I get to an overview, which provides me with the Key Process Steps Covered, as well as the
Benefits. Great.Yet that is not enough detail for me as an implementor. So let's take a look
at the process diagram.

00:09:20

The process diagram is very helpful and accelerates really the discussion between business
and IT and helps me as an implementor to understand
what are really the process steps covered in this scope item.So here I see the main
process.
I see the roles, such as the accounts receivable manager, the accounts receivable
accountant.I can see the individual process steps such as the invoice reporting.
I can see the bank statement, the dunning letters. If I'm interested in the master data flow, I
can take a look at that.
Or if I'm interested in specific steps such as the invoice reporting or the bank statements, I
can take a look at all that.
So now I have a general overview as to what is the coverage in that scope item of accounts
receivable.Great. I want to proceed from here to another item that is worthy to mention,
which is testing.

00:09:28
00:09:33
00:09:43
00:09:51
00:09:58

00:10:09
00:10:17
00:10:26
00:10:37
00:10:48
00:10:56
00:11:05
00:11:21
00:11:29
00:11:39
00:11:48
00:11:57
00:12:10
00:12:21
00:12:31

We all know that is really time consuming in any implementation. For that purpose, we have
prepared for you the test scripts
for the business processes that we cover with SAP S/4HANA.So let's take a look at the test
script here.
And voila, here we see the test script for accounts receivable, country version of United
Kingdom. I can see all the testing process steps that are covered and to be executed.
Wonderful. With that, I'd like to leave the solution scope and I go back to my main overview
page in the Manage Your Solution app.
Now that I understand the scope that is overall covered, I'd like to configure the solution
within the confines of the business processes that are available to me.
So I go to the Configure Your Solution area of the Manage Your Solution app.And here I
can see all the various steps that are available for me to configure,
such as the organizational structure, plans, purchasing organizations, and I can go through
them as I see fit in my implementation.
What else can you find in the Manage Your Solution app? Remember I mentioned testing
earlier, and I also mentioned data migration. So let's take a look
at the data migration. If your source system is SAP, as mentioned, you can go from source
to target mapping, mapping from SAP ERP to SAP S/4HANA in the cloud.
We can see our testing project for our sample corporation, Acme, has not yet started.Still,
you get a look at the testing workbench.
And of course, now I'm really interested in the scope of SAP S/4HANA.If I want to learn
more, here we have the integration to the SAP Learning Hub
and I can understand more about the SAP Learning Hub by looking at the specific
Implementation and Configuration Learning Room
that provides me further detailed information about how to implement SAP S/4HANA.For on
premise, you activate the business processes and the country versions you will use.
To do so, you use the SAP solution builder. The purpose of the solution builder is to activate
the SAP Best Practices in the on-premise system.
The solution builder contains the configuration content that SAP delivers to you.All SAP
Best Practices processes are modeled as scope items.

14

00:12:42
00:12:52
00:13:00

Scope items are our instantiations of SAP Best Practices. So an example of a scope item
could be a best practice for accounts receivable
or a best practice for accounts payable. At SAP we model these scope items of a set of
building blocks.
And in the solution builder, you get to see the scope items as well as the underlying building
blocks. For SAP S/4HANA cloud, you can simply communicate the planned business
processes

00:13:13

to the SAP service center, which then activates the business processes in the
system.Another element of the SAP Activate guided configuration is the self-service
configuration.

00:13:28

Self-service configuration is the environment where you, as an SAP S/4HANA cloud

customer, can adjust the settings such as the organizational structure,
the master data settings, or other business-relevant settings, all in an environment that is
convenient for the project teams and for the key users.
Typically, you will not change the actual business processes through self-service
configuration, but rather configure your settings within the confines of a specific business
process.

00:13:38
00:13:48

00:14:03
00:14:13
00:14:18

00:16:06
00:16:13
00:16:19
00:16:30
00:16:41

The self-service configuration combines SAP's vast experience into business processes
with a business-friendly environment to enable you and your key users
to access the right configuration for your needs. What is the advantage of all that?
Well, we are absolutely convinced that at the time that we have now the time and costintensive blueprinting activities can be highly reduced.
Experiencing the preconfigured system while performing a fit/gap analysis is the muchmore-agile way to make the configuration business adjustments you need
while going through an SAP S/4HANA implementation. We understand that in addition to the
business processes that SAP provides,
you will very often want to add new processes or adjust the preconfigured business
processes that SAP delivers.
As a cloud customer, you can request process adjustments and the SAP service center can
perform the changes.
For on premise, you can add your own business processes or make adjustments to SAP
processes.
For doing such configuration changes, the well-know SAP Implementation Guide, also
known as SAP IMG, is available in the SAP S/4HANA on-premise edition.
Within the SAP Implementation Guide, adjustments can be made to the system without
coding.SAP S/4HANA will continue to provide new capabilities with future releases.
Accordingly, the ready-to-run business processes that SAP delivers as SAP Best Practices- they will change over time.
SAP will provide updates and enhancements to the preconfiguration that SAP delivers. To
allow you to profit from these new capabilities and from these changes,
let's talk about the new concept of content lifecycle management that comes into place
here.What is content lifecycle management?
Content lifecycle managment helps to activate updates and any new SAP Best Practices in
a non-disruptive way.
How do we do that? As said before, customizing that is done via self-service configuration.
Expert configuration is recorded as customer-owned customizing that the system
knows. This customizing can be reapplied after an update or a new process is adopted.
SAP S/4HANA cloud customers can already profit from this framework for guided
configuration today. For on premise, however, guided configuration is not available yet.
So here, the traditional customizing approach via the IMG is available for you to further
customize your system. It is really important to note that when I mention adjustments to
business processes

or the creation of new business processes, we understand that very often this type of work
is done by our esteemed partners in our great ecosystem.
So what is the role of SAP's partners in the context of SAP Activate and in the context of
implementing SAP S/4HANA?
Let's take a closer look.Partners are an integral part of the vision for fast scale-out of SAP
S/4HANA.
Partners are key to the adoption of the solution in the market. Our partners are empowered
and they are capable of running SAP S/4HANA in on premise
in implementations in 2016 with SAP Best Practices. And we at SAP will provide scalable
enablement and expert documentation to support our partners.
For example, we will provide documentation on how to create additional country versions,
how to create additional country localizations,
or how to create additional custom content on top of SAP's best practices. Also, we will
support our partners in documentation as to
how they can move their existing content solutions to SAP S/4HANA.Finally, I would like to
round out the section on guided configuration by talking about learning.
Learning is essential for end users to get to know SAP S/4HANA and also to have
ownership of the solution.
Training and onboarding is typically a significant cost driver in any transformation effort. To
reduce the total cost of implementation for SAP S/4HANA adoption,
we recommend you use the learning capabilities that are embedded in SAP Activate as a
way to minimize the overall effort in the implementation.
An online help for new user training was introduced with SAP S/4HANA.The training
material and the help documentation are now directly accessible from the application itself
and the integration to SAP Learning Hub is also provided. Now let's take a look at the third
pillar of SAP Activate. It's methodology.
And let's take a look at the benefits of this new SAP Activate methodology.First, it enables
consistent project delivery.
It reduces complexity and increases the quality by providing a common framework and a
common language for all SAP projects.
Second, it supports all three transition scenarios to SAP S/4HANA.Third, it is prescriptive
and comprehensive.
It provides guided work procedures for project team members, deliverables for project
managers, and accelerators like
how-to documents or templates for all users.Fourth, it accelerates project delivery for the
use of SAP Best Practices,
the fit/gap analysis, agile project management, application visualization, and cloud
technology.Fifth, the methodology foundation is fully aligned with proven project
management practices
of the Project Management Institute, like formal quality, risk, and issues managment. The
SAP Activate methodology consists of one simple and modular methodology.
This methodology is the successor of AcceleratedSAP and also of the SAP Launch
methodologies. It provides full support for the initial deployment as well as continuous
business innovation.
Whether you implement in the cloud, on premise, or in a hybrid environment, the SAP
Activate methodology is for you.
It covers all three of these deployment nodes. It is designed to support a broad coverage of
SAP solutions
and the starting point, that is SAP S/4HANA.The methodology also enables co-innovation
with SAP customers
and it is accessible, of course, for our partner ecosystem.Enough in terms of theory. Let's
take a look at the SAP Activate methodology.

Here's a short demo that walks you through the key aspects of the methodology. In this
demo, let's take a look at the SAP Activate methodology.
Here you see the Jam group for the SAP Activate methodology and as you can see, we
have already roughly 5,000 members.
It's a vibrant community where people can exchange thoughts, feedback, suggestions for
improvement on the SAP Activate methodology, or just consume the plenty of materials that
we provide to our ecosystem.
Now let's take a look at the various instantiations of the SAP Activate methodology. For
example, we have SAP Activate Methodology for On-Premise Solutions,
SAP Activate Methodology for Cloud. And for the purposes of this demo, let's pick the cloud.
By the way, feel free to join this group as part of this course or thereafter.I recommend it to
you. You will certainly enjoy all the material that we provide to you.
Within the SAP Activate Methodology for Cloud, you see at the top the phases, such as
Prepare, Explore, Realize, and Deploy.
In each of the phases, you will find deliverables that help you accelerate the project. So let's
take a look at the Prepare phase.
Obviously, as we are preparing the project in the Prepare phase, you see topics such as
Project Kickoff or Project Preparation.
In the Explore phase, you again see the deliverables for that phase, and now let's explore
one of these deliverables.
Let's take the Solution Validation / Fit Analysis. In the fit analysis, you see here an
explanation of the SAP fit/gap analysis,
what is the role of SAP, what is the role of the customer. And we do approach here an agile
approach to the overall solution definition and gap analysis.
Also, within each deliverable, you can see accelerators. Let's pick here an example: the
Solution Validation Workshop,
which is then a template for a PowerPoint that helps you conduct that workshop and will
make sure that you provide the appropriate material to help that workshop go successfully
and smoothly.
So there are explanations as to what is the purpose of such a workshop, what are the
various steps in the workshop, and of course a key example.
The next phase is the Realize phase. We will see deliverables that we've seen before in
week 1, unit 4,
topics that we discussed when we discussed best practices as well as guided
configuration. You see topics like Integration Setup, the Data Preparation and Load,
and of course topics like the Solution Test Preparation and Execution. In the Deploy phase,
it's all about Production Setup and, finally, Project Closure.
And with that, I'd like to wrap up this demo.Another aspect of the SAP Activate methodology
that I would like to point out to you
is the SAP Roadmap Viewer. It is a Fiori-based application that gives you access to the
phases of an SAP S/4HANA implementation
and the tasks within each phase of such an implementation. The phases of an SAP
S/4HANA implementation, as well as the tasks
to be completed, are exposed in the Roadmap Viewer in SAP Solution Manager. The
Roadmap Viewer is structured according to the phases in the SAP Activate methodology
and you get to see the various tasks and deliverables that are part of the
implementation. You can take a look at the SAP Solutoin Manager to see the various
aspects of the implementation,

00:25:05

the phases, and the tasks to be performed. You will get a good overview of your to-do's,

00:25:13

whether you are performing a system conversion transition scenario or a new

implementation of SAP S/4HANA, in the cloud as well as on premise.

Okay, so let's wrap up this unit of our openSAP course.Let me summarize where the
individual pillars of the SAP Activate innovation adoption framework apply.
With a new implementation in the cloud, you get to use the SAP Best Practices, the guided
configuration, and the methodology that together form SAP Activate.
For on premise, you can take advantage of the SAP Best Practices as well as the SAP
Activate methodology. If you are pursuing a system conversion,
you apply best practices for the migration to SAP S/4HANA.And if you wish to integrate
additional SAP cloud solutions
once you have transferred to SAP S/4HANA, you can apply the best practices for cloud
integration.
The guided configuration is not applicable in the case of a system conversion because you
are basically bringing forward to the SAP S/4HANA world
the existing processes that you had in the previous non-SAP S/4HANA implementation.Of
course, the methodology part of SAP Activate applies in the system conversion case.
In our third transition scenario, the landscape transformation case, the methodology part of
SAP Activate applies as well.
If you carve out a company code in the landscape transformation transition scenario, and
implement the new company code,
you can apply the SAP Best Practices for this new company code, as such an
implementation is essentially a new implementation transition scenario.
By completing this learning unit, you should now know the pillars of SAP Activate, be
familiar with the SAP Best Practices embedded in the SAP S/4HANA product,
understand the concepts of guided configuration, as well as know the SAP Activate
methodology.
In the next unit, we will explore the integration of SAP S/4HANA with other cloud
solutions. And with that, we conclude the overview of SAP Activate,
the innovation adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA.Bye now.

Welcome to week 1, unit 5 of the Implementation of SAP S/4HANA course. In this unit we
will focus on the integration of SAP S/4HANA with other SAP cloud solutions.
I would like to start out by explaining to you why integration matters. And once we answer
the why question,
I will share with you SAP's offering for integrating other SAP cloud solutions with SAP
S/4HANA.So what is a digital value network
and how does a digital value network enable business transformation? The digital value
network starts with a digital core which interconnects
all aspects of the value network in real time to drive business outcomes. The digital core
gives consumer product companies the opportunity to re-platform core business processes
and bring them together with analytics in real time to enable a smarter, a faster, and a much
simpler enterprise.
This includes not only connecting every aspect of internal operations, but also enables the
following in real time.
1. Workforce engagement to retain and grow existing talent, to attract new talent, and
preserve enterprise intelligence with a smarter, much more engaged workforce.
2. Supplier collaboration through business networks to mitigate supply risk, accelerate
growth, and help ensure global compliance
all while maximizing product availability and margins.3. Omni-channel consumer
experiences enabled by the capacity to engage with consumers
with timely and relevant information along the entire consumer path to purchase.4. The
Internet of Things and Big Data,
combining internal, external, social, as well as sensor data to enable real-time visibility to
consumer demand and other market dynamics
with consumer sentiment and behavior. This entire value chain, including the core, is
digitized
and serves as the platform for innovation and business process automation. For the purpose
of integrating these capabilities in the digital core of SAP S/4HANA,
SAP offers integration best practices as part of the SAP S/4HANA solution. Then you may
ask: "What is an integration best practice? What does it do for you?"
The SAP integration best practices deliver out-of-the-box integration between SAP
S/4HANA and other SAP cloud solutions such as SAP SuccessFactors Employee Central or
the Ariba Business Network.
An integration best practice starts always with predefined and preconfigured business
processes across the integrated systems.
It also includes the data integration content and message flow required to run these
processes. On the more technical level, the integration best practices for SAP S/4HANA
cover topics like
interface configuration, the mappings between the interfaces where necessary, monitoring,
exception handling, and of course connectivity and security settings.
Taking all of these ingredients together, you have your best practices for how to integrate
other SAP cloud solutions with the digital core of SAP S/4HANA
whether it is SAP S/4HANA in the cloud or SAP S/4HANA on premise. It brings you into a
pole position to start your journey to the digital transformation
without wondering, "How do I set up integration?" Since we answered the questions "Why
does Integration matter?"
and "Why do integration best practices matter in the context of implementing SAP
S/4HANA?" let's now look at what SAP's integration offering is.
Let's start with our SAP Best Practices for integration for human resources. Whether you
use SAP S/4HANA in the cloud,

19

00:04:27

or whether you use SAP S/4HANA on premise, you will need an engaged workforce.

00:04:32

You will need to make sure you attract the best talent possible and you also need to make
sure that you can manage this talent in a global environment
with many local differences and legal complexities. As a result, ideally you need to have an
HR suite in the cloud.
SAP provides SuccessFactors Talent Management as well as SuccessFactors Employee
Central. And for integrating SAP S/4HANA with these cloud solutions,
we provide you best practices for SAP S/4HANA integration with Employee Central. The
scope of the SAP S/4HANA integration with SuccessFactors Employee Central
is designed to handle employee data, position data, and cost assignment information. If in
your environment you are handling contingent labor-that means temporary workforce that augments your staff when needed-- we also plan to
provide you with an SAP S/4HANA integration with Fieldglass to handle contingent labor.
And this Fieldglass solution will of course be integrated with SAP SuccessFactors. So now
let's briefly talk about the underlying integration technology
used in the SAP Best Practices for integration of SuccessFactors Employee Central.

00:08:46

For those of you who would like to integrate SAP S/4HANA on premise with
SuccessFactors solutions, you have two options.
1. You can either use the SAP Process Orchestration middleware.SAP Process
Orchestration is an SAP middleware
which is deployed in your on-premise environment and can be used as the "save door" into
the cloud world.2. You can decide to use the SAP HANA Cloud Integration
which is SAP's strategic cloud integration solution. The SAP HANA Cloud Integration is
SAP's cloud-based software-as-a-service middleware.
The best practices for integration support both of these technology options equally and
provide predefined integration content for each.
This means that you can decide what is best for you based on your specific situation, your
needs, and your preferences.
Let's make an example. If you are already using SAP Process Orchestration,
you can use this middleware to implement integration in your environment. However, if you
are not using SAP Process Orchestration,
you should consider SAP HANA Cloud Integration. This reduces the system landscape and
can help reduce the total cost of ownership.
Also, if you are planning to integrate your S/4HANA cloud edition with other SAP systems or
third-party solutions,
the SAP HANA Cloud Integration is SAP's strategic solution. This technological options
apply for all the SAP integration best practices for SAP S/4HANA.
Now let's take a look at the integration between SAP S/4HANA and business networks. The
Ariba Network is central to collaboration with suppliers and handling procurement.
As such, we provide integration between SAP S/4HANA on premise or SAP S/4HANA in the
cloud and the Ariba Network.
The integration addresses key documents like purchase orders, purchase order
confirmations, and invoices.
It provides integration support for collaborative procurement scenarios via the Ariba
Network.Today, you can already take advantage of the Ariba scenarios for collaborative
finance and collaborative commerce.
Coming in the future, you will also see additional scenarios like extended document support
and collaborative supply chain.
From a technology point of view, the SAP Best Practices for SAP S/4HANA integration with
the Ariba Network
offer an additional connectivity option as compared to the SuccessFactors integration
options that I explained earlier.

As a result of the aligned and simplified interfaces released with SAP S/4HANA, the Ariba
Network can be now integrated directly with SAP S/4HANA
without any middleware in between. This kind of integration leverages new Web Services
that support the cXML message format used by the Ariba Network. The direct connectivity
option is supported for on-premise
and cloud editions of SAP S/4HANA equally. You can of course still use SAP Process
Orchestration or the SAP HANA Cloud Integration
to implement additional security layers or to enhance the standard integration with your own
scenarios.
Now let's talk about the integration of SAP S/4HANA with SAP's solutions in the area of
customer engagement and commerce.
In order for you to make the best use of the information that is gathered in your systems, the
goal is to re-use this information in as many solutions as possible,
especially when it comes to dealing with information about your customers. We therefore
offer multiple integration scenarios in the area of customer engagement and commerce
and plan to add new ones in the future. For starters, you can integrate your SAP S/4HANA
on-premise system with SAP Cloud for Customer,
providing you with an end-to-end process from creating opportunities and quotes to finally
managing your orders with all related processes in your SAP S/4HANA system.
This is all done while keeping data consistent across applications. The integration between
SAP S/4HANA, cloud enterprise edition and SAP Cloud for Customer
is also available and makes it possible for you to keep accounts and contacts in sync
between the two solutions. While managing your opportunities in SAP Cloud for Customer,
leveraging product-related data from your SAP S/4HANA back end, you can create a new
order in SAP S/4HANA from your SAP Cloud for Customer application.
From a middleware perspective, SAP HANA Cloud Integration is your system of choice
when it comes to integrating SAP S/4HANA, cloud enterprise edition with other solutions.
Using SAP S/4HANA on-premise edition, you can choose whether you prefer SAP's onpremise solution, SAP NetWeaver Process Orchestration,
or the cloud-based SAP HANA Cloud Integration. For any of the possible combinations of
systems,
SAP is planning to continuously extend the depth as well as the breadth of integration
possibilities, including the SAP S/4HANA, cloud marketing edition scenarios.
Last but not least, I would like to point out the integration with financial institutions provided
as SAP Best Practices.
You can onboard financial institutions to the Financial Services Network and here again you
use the SAP Process Orchestration
or the SAP HANA Cloud Integration as the middleware of choice. With that, I hope I have
gotten across the fact that you have lots of choice in terms of integration scenarios,
whether you integrate with your customers from a customer engagement point of view, or
you integrate with your suppliers,
or you integrate with the workforce management solutions of SuccessFactors, or you
integrate with financial institutions.
SAP provides you with out-of-the-box best practices for each of these integration scenarios
for SAP S/4HANA
in the cloud as well as on premise. That's it for this unit.
See you in the next one where we will look at some of the resources available for you in the
world of SAP S/4HANA and SAP Activate.
Bye for now.

Hello and welcome to week 1, unit 6 of the Implementation of SAP S/4HANA course. Now
that you are well into this course on SAP S/4HANA implementation,
we wanted to spend a little time bringing together some additional resources related to SAP
S/4HANA.These resources are designed to help you both during
as well as after you have completed this course. So let's get started.
First, here is a slide that outlines what is available via the SAP Learning Hub and the SAP
Education classroom.
The Learning Hub is where you start for cloud-based training that is self-paced.You can
start wherever you feel comfortable.
There are learning rooms for SAP S/4HANA fundamentals, for SAP Activate, and for the
three transition scenarios specifically.
If you are interested in classroom-based learning where you can interact with an instructor
directly,
SAP offers many of these same courses in classroom format as well. Also, there are various
certifications you can pursue
related to each of the categories of SAP S/4HANA learning. And of course, an SAP Live
Access sytem is available
alongside many of these resources for an additional layer of learning. Now don't worry about
understanding everything that is listed here on the slide at this point.
This slide is provided here mainly for your reference. For the purposes of this course, we will
continue to show you all you need to know
to get started with an SAP S/4HANA implementation successfully. We just want you to know
that giving you access to continuous learning, for us at SAP,
that is a priority for SAP S/4HANA.So the good news is there are lots of resources out there
for you to get a good handle on SAP S/4HANA.And here we want to give you a jump start
by putting the best resources together in a single view
and then walk you through some of them so that getting started isn't overwhelming.A good
place to start is at the top and then work your way down as you learn what each link
provides.
It makes sense that once you discover what SAP S/4HANA is all about and you do
understand the Journey Map,
that then you might want to play with a trial and see what learning is available in the SAP
Learning Hub.And then you may ask yourself, Okay, how do I actually implement SAP
S/4HANA?
Which is, of course, what this course is all about. But implementation best practices are also
documented thoroughly online.
And then there are communities where you can interact with your peers and learn from their
implementation experiences
both with SAP S/4HANA as well as with its new user experience: Fiori. So let me briefly
demo a few of the resources listed here
and propose that you have really a closer look at them when you can. This will enhance your
learning experience throughout the coming weeks
and place you in a better position to understand all of the innovations that come with SAP
S/4HANA.Let's start with the Journey Map.
The Journey Map is a great visualization of how a typical SAP customer goes from never
even having heard of SAP S/4HANA all the way through to running it live.
As you see here, each step is supplemented with additional use cases and reports to help
give you a good idea of what to expect during each phase of the journey.
Now let's take a look at the Discover page. This is where you can go if you want to learn
more about the power of SAP S/4HANA

in the context of larger industry trends. Here you can learn about the digital economy, the
SAP Digital Boardroom,
and other innovations made possible by and with SAP S/4HANA.Once you're ready to give
it a shot,
this page is how you get started with the various SAP S/4HANA trials. As you can see, you
have the option to try it out in the cloud or on premise.
The choice is truly yours. Now once you understand what SAP S/4HANA is all about and
you see it in action,
you definitely want to understand all there is to know about SAP Activate as the innovation
adoption framework for SAP S/4HANA.
Here you can see we have a solution brief and an FAQ to help you get started. All right. I
think those are enough examples for now.
I'll let you explore the rest on your own time. And just remember that if you have any
questions about any of these resources,
you can always ask in the discussion forums. So that concludes the first week of this
openSAP course.
Now that you have learned about the key innovations in SAP S/4HANA, now that you are
familiar with the main transition scenarios to get there
and you have learned about SAP Activate, next you will have a chance to hear from two of
our customers who have already adopted SAP S/4HANA.
The next two videos are optional, which means you don't have any graded questions from
these videos.
However, I do recommend that you check them out. Each customer will talk about the
reasons behind their decision to move to SAP S/4HANA
and the benefits that they have already seen for their business. You can understand why
and how SAP S/4HANA enables them to really reimagine their business.
Enjoy these two videos and the rest of this course.Bye for now and good luck with your
weekly assignment.

Hi, my name's Shaun Syvertsen, I'm a managing partner with Convergent IS, and I'm going
to tell you a little bit about our journey to SAP S/4HANA.
So I'll run through just a quick overview about about our footprint, and why SAP, and how
that all turned out for us.
To give you a bit of background about our organization, starting in 2002, a strong focus on
mobile enablement,
and rugged mobile field computing. The types of devices, for instance, that deep field
mobility needs, and the types of devices that are specialized, tailored specifically to
industries
for instance to help make sure somebody in a hazardous situation literally doesn't blow
themselves up.Growing, and adding services around mobile security, mobile VPN,
and the enablement of mobile services in some pretty rough areas, and managing the
connection around that securely.
We added whole new mobile field data capture solutions and adding those practices and
adding all of those solutions to our organization.
And from there again, that mobile services, the mobile strategy, and the mobile enablement
has brought us naturally into the SAP space.
2012/2013 we started adding SAP services practice to what we do.And that was largely
centered around the mobile applications and mobile services that we provide there.
And in 2015, we've grown substantially, and so we were looking for a solution that gave us
the confidence that it could keep up with our growth
and even help lead us through that. So, quick highlights. We're now based in multiple
locations.
We have a presence and so on in now three countries and with quite a few different
companies that we do business with,
many different taxes, many different currencies, this became, obviously, something that we
needed to manage. And so this ability to grow, we were looking for a solution
that would again help lead us and help automate large segments of our business. So what
parts of SAP are we using?
We started with something really nice and contained and we're running in our own private
cloud,
and we're running S/4 starting initially with the HR and Finance processes. So we started
with Simple Finance 1, and we've now moved to SAP S/4HANA Finance.
And with that, we're taking advantage of that single, universal journal, and the speed that
you can report on that, and most importantly,
the confidence that when we report a number, either for management reporting or for
financial reporting, that it's one number and one source of the truth.
So to us, we kind of think of that as tripple entry accounting because instead of maintaining
two books, we have one,
and we can get the reporting out of that that we really need very very quickly, across
currencies with foreign exchange, and across many many different customers.
We know that we now have the confidence that that can grow, and it's substantially
streamlined our period close process.
On the procurement side, we've added the Procure-to-Pay process, and with that,
obviously, we're using purchase requests, purchase orders,
managing the coordination and delivery of those services, either internally or externally,
through our sales processes and in the payment of those suppliers and vendors.
Our Lead-to-Cash process is now running through SAP.We're delighted with that. We're
able to use again the Fiori Experience for the vast majority of that.
And then for the Accounting/Finance process, again, from record right until filing those
returns and filing all of those financial reports.

24

00:03:56
00:04:06
00:04:16
00:04:23
00:04:31

00:04:44
00:04:55
00:05:07
00:05:15

So in terms of that embedded BI that comes with S/4HANA, we're very very happy about
that. It means that we're running our reporting out of a real-time system.
We're no longer eating our stale, day-old bread, we're eating fresh, ripe, rich data that's live
in real time.
Why SAP? So obviously there are lots of solutions that we could have picked, and we spent
a lot of time looking at what sort of services we could do.
SAP is bar none the most capable solution out there. We just looked at a whole bunch of
them, so we're freshly familiar with what the others have to offer.
What really made the difference for us: HANA's great; Fiori obviously is a massive
improvement over what the user experience had been. Fiori plus HANA is a fantastic
combination
that starts to re-imagine those ERP processes, especially with SAP S/4 Finance, bringing
those together in a user experience that's clean, modern, role-based,
responsive, and our business is really appreciating the simplicity. The approach: When we're
looking at how we approach any project
(and we've done this for quite a few years), we start with "what are we trying to do?"
Obviously, we're the ones that are familiar with how we're going to run our business,
and as we were implementing this, we found that we had a lot of things that we wanted to
achieve through the business that we were limited by the previous solutions that we were
using.

00:05:24

And taking that assessment, going through very quickly, we found that it's critical that you
start to prototype the solution immediately. And as soon as you can start to see what your
business can look like

00:05:38

through this new solution, through SAP S/4HANA, you're going to find ideas that you didn't
even know were possible. And they're out of the box. And that's part of what that Fiori User
Experience, re-imagined with HANA, is starting to provide.

00:05:52

When you're prototyping, you're going to start to get those ideas of how you can re-imagine
your business, and you're going to find that things that used to be really cumbersome,

00:06:04

for instance, taking three or four minutes in the older SAP, you can now do in half that time
with that Fiori User Experience and HANA under that.
So where did we start? We bought our licenses at the end of the year, like many
organizations do, and we kicked off the project just a few days later.
So we had our systems installed, running on our private cloud in AWS.And in the first two
and a half to three months, we had employee self-service,
HR, Payroll, and GL services running with the first round of SAP S/4 Finance. As 1503 and
1505 were released, we were among the first and, as far as we know, the first to adopt
1505.

00:06:14
00:06:25
00:06:34

00:06:53

And we learned a couple of things along the way. I'll touch on some of those in just a
minute. But that lead-to-cash integration using some of the PMCS service orders instead of
sales orders,

00:07:03

the accounts payable and the materials and sales delivery, those are some fantastic
processes. We're really looking forward to the 1511 release, and that's obviously what we're
focusing on

00:07:16

coming into the last quarter of this year. We've gone through and added quite a few
enhancements to the employee self-services. We've gone through and created some things
to help accelerate our lead-to-cash processes,

00:07:29

and we've applied SAP Screen Personas - yes, you use that with S/4HANA as well - to
simplify a number of those screens that haven't been completely renewed with the SAP
Fiori User Experience yet.

00:07:41

And the KPIs and Smart Business, HANA Live, fantastic addition, and we're really excited to
be able to have that insight into seeing, for instance,

25

00:07:50
00:08:00

00:08:10
00:08:20
00:08:33

key business metrics at the tip of the finger, accessible from the Fiori launchpad. When we
think about what we're looking at next is the 1511 release.
So going through the lead-to-cash KPIs, and going through some of the logistics
streamlining, and the re-imagined, simplified material ledger, we're really excited about that,
and we'll be among the first to implement that as well.So going forward, what we've done is
we've positioned our business on one of the most scalable solutions that we can find,
and on one of the leading edge platforms and solutions that's going to help our business
grow. What did we get? Again, a great base. We know that we can grow quickly,
grow consistently, and we're no longer worried about passing things around in Excels, and
PowerPoints, and Word documents. We know that we've got those integrated enterprise
processes that are critical.

00:08:44

That scalable solution means that as we grow, again we have the confidence that the
system is going to keep up with us, and even lead us and enable us to do things that we
couldn't do with other solutions.

00:08:55

Financial and management reporting. Anybody seen those bun fights between the VP of
Sales and the VP of Finance of what number is really correct? We know that we're not
going to find ourselves in that situation

00:09:04

because we're working off of a single universal journal. We've been able to reduce our days
sales outstanding just by simplifying the accounts receivable process.
And we've also been able to accelerate the timing of invoices going out the door.Increasing
the insight to those key enterprise processes,
making sure that we've got the insights on HR processes, making sure that we've got more
solid HR processes. Is somebody going to be off over the Christmas holidays?
We can now see that on our team calendar. We can make sure that we're reviewing and
approving those processes very simply, with the Fiori user interface.
And importantly again for us, because we love helping our customers take advantage of the
latest technology, we're in a position to lead by example. And that means that we're eating
our own cooking,

00:09:14
00:09:23
00:09:31
00:09:38

00:09:48
00:09:56
00:10:04

00:10:14
00:10:23

00:10:33
00:10:42

00:10:55
00:11:07

00:11:16

and I believe that that's very very important for any company to do.So, we run simple, and
we'd love to help you do the same.
Key lessons to share: When you're looking at prototyping and thinking about how you would
blueprint a move to SAP S/4HANA,
the most important thing that I can suggest, get the sandbox done up as soon as possible,
because as soon as you get that sandbox, you're going to start to see your business.
Take a copy of your ECC, upgrade it. Do that in the sandbox. You're going to start to see
your business upgraded and modeled, just with a technical upgrade.
And you're going to see what those improvements will get you out-of-the-box.And if you
don't do that as soon as possible, you can very very easily find yourself in a blueprint-athon,
looking at PowerPoints and things on a whiteboard for twelve months easily.Very
expensive. I don't see value in it, so the sooner you can get yourself into a sandbox
to start modeling those business scenarios with that technical enhancement, the better. So
as you're going through the install, you're going to find that things like memory management
become really really critical.
You're going to find that embedded BI introduces fantastic new capabilities, to be able to get
that insight into fresh, real-time, right-now data, not yesterday's data.
When you're looking at that information, you're also going to be able to start to forecast
where that's going to put you.So when you think about a growing business and the criticality
of cash flow critical, it's the lifeblood of any company - you can now forecast that. And if you're wondering
how you start to get a business case together,

26

00:11:22
00:11:30

ask your CFO what that would be worth in terms of going through and forecasting cash flow
into the future based on real live data.
And when you're thinking about that technical install, just remember to think about a little bit
of extra time for a number of Fiori apps that still need a little bit of extra care and attention to
set up.

00:11:39

They're not quite as out-of-the box as just a SAP GUI transaction, but they're a lot easier to
use, and they're really important to get a deep understanding of what that new system is
going to give you.

00:11:49

As you're thinking about the move to SAP S/4HANA, remember that it's not just a faster
process. It's a re-imagined process. It's not simply merging Finance and Controlling,
it's accelerating them, and giving you deeper insight into what that means, and giving you
faster access to that information.
So you can ask a smarter question and you can get a better answer more quickly. So think
about the functional design, and think about how, when you no longer have
a separate Finance and Controlling setup, think about how many cost centers you need,
and think about whether or not you have as many cost centers as you have employees,
and if you do, it's the perfect opportunity to go through and simplify that.Think about how
you can streamline that, and take that opportunity to
not necessarily greenfield if you don't have to, but that's an option. But go through and see if
you can streamline some of that information to make sure that you can simplify that,
and take even more advantage of the opportunity to give your business a massive leap
forward. When you're developing, ask tough questions, but push those questions down to
the database.

00:12:02
00:12:08
00:12:19
00:12:27
00:12:36
00:12:43

00:12:55
00:13:04
00:13:12
00:13:20

00:13:31
00:13:37
00:13:43

Because if you do what maybe has been done in the past and bring information through,
and loop through it at the application level, things are just going to slow down.
When you can take those tough questions and push them down to HANA, you can get the
answer to that very very quickly. For the return on investment,
remember, it's more than simple cost reduction. It's thinking about how you can grow, how
you can take the ability to forecast where your business is going to be
and enable the business to run faster. It's about how you can move the business more
quickly. It's about how you can take things where maybe you have a massive infrastructure
for looking at day-old data,
how you can simplify that and bring it into one spot, and how you can really help your
business take a great leap forward.
And I'm really delighted to say that we feel confident that we have now, and we've
positioned ourselves for growth.
So thank you very very much, and we hope you make that move to S/4HANA quickly.

Hi, I'm Jonathan Pendrich, the SAP managing principle with General Datatech.Today, I'm
going to take you through GDT's implementation of SAP S/4HANA.
Our agenda is as follows: First off, who is GDT? Then we will look at the details around the
SAP footprint at GDT.
Following that, we will look at why GDT chose SAP S/4HANA, the implementation
approach, the benefits that we have seen already,
lessons learned, and the next steps.Started in 1996, GDT is a company that has grown
organically,
and has become very successful in its industry. With a growth of about 34% year-on-year for
seven years,
it has been fantastic at building relationships with its customers and delivering an
exceptional experience.
GDT is based in Dallas, Texas, but has offices all across the U.S., and is also an
international company.
GDT specializes in designing, building, and delivering the best-of-breed technology
solutions that fit the needs of our customers.
GDT utilizes its state-of-the-art facility in Dallas for staging and configuring customer
solutions, as well as providing customers with the hands-on experience of those solutions
and products.

00:01:34

GDT delivers increased resource productivity and powerful, scalable IT ecosystems

00:01:41

that realize the vision of both IT professionals and business leaders. For nearly two decades,
GDT has been empowering businesses to achieve their goals.
We partner with technology innovators such as Cisco, SAP, EMC, VMware, and VCE, and
many others, to turn the latest and greatest ideas into realities.
We bridge the gap between business and technology, bringing them together to get the
most out of the technology for the business.
We're a Cisco gold partner, with award-winning expertise that brings some of the largest
U.S. service providers and enterprises across the industry.
We take a comprehensive approach in that we design the solution. We build the solution
with our customers and we utilize our state-of-the-art facility
and then deliver that solution to the customer. This is done with formal training and hands-on
experience for our customers.
Now let's take a look at what GDT deployed as part of our implementation for
S/4HANA.GDT deployed the latest and greatest SAP S/4HANA.
We also deployed the Extended Warehouse Management, or EWM.We leveraged SAP Fiori
UX to simplify our user experience.
We used Process Orchestration for B2B integration with our partners and our customers. For
our HCM requirement, we have deployed SuccessFactors.
We also deployed Virtex as our tax system. Now let's look at our landscape. We set up six
instances of HANA for our technical landscape.
We have a technical sandbox, sandbox, development, quality assurance, production, and
disaster recovery.
We are looking in the future to use SAP BusinessObjects, Lumira, SAP Hybris, SAP CRM,
SAP Cloud Analytics,
and the HANA Cloud Platform for our integration needs.Production database size is
approximately about 200 gigs.
At GDT, we have been growing about 30-40% year-on-year for about seven years, which,
don't get me wrong, was wonderful.
But we didn't have a lot of processes to go along with that growth, and we had an ERP
solution that was going out of support.

We needed new processes, improved processes, simplification of ordering, logistics, more

flexibility,
more methods of approaching our financial processes and reporting. So why did GDT
choose S/4HANA?
Well, GDT had a disparate landscape of applications and tools that were good for that
particular use case, but never really interacted with each other.
And so we had silos of business units and applications, and financials, and reporting. We
needed a brand new direction that could empower our leadership,
the CEO, CIO, CFO, to make faster and smarter decisions. We carefully evaluated the ERP
market. We sought advice from our customers and partners
who, many of them, were running SAP for their business. We recognized that SAP not only
was the best for us, but was the best in the industry.
When we evaluated the market, we realized that SAP was the only company that brought all
of our business applications under one umbrella
through its core products and its ecosystem of applications. So what methodology did GDT
use to implement S/4HANA?
GDT was in desperate need, as we had grown fast, and we needed better processes. We
looked to SAP to assist with this implementation methodology.
SAP Activate was the methodology we followed for our deployment. To help businesses run
simple, SAP Activate offers ready-to-run, digitized business processes,
optimized for SAP S/4HANA.This new experience allowed GDT to flexibly choose the right
approach for our implementation.
SAP Activate starts with the SAP Best Practices packages for any implementation, and
uses one methodology for any deployment mode,
whether it's cloud, on-premise, or hybrid. This implementation methodology is a unique
combination of SAP's Best Practices
and guided configuration, which helped GDT to deploy S/4HANA.The guided approach
helped the business and IT to collaborate for a successful outcome.
The entire process of collaboration was recorded, thus supplying a configuration history that
can be used to tap into for future use.
With multiple disparate systems, before it was very difficult for executives to get a complete
understanding and vision into our customers and our forecasts.
Executives at GDT now have a complete view of our customers, their orders and projects,
all the way from quote to cash.
GDT didn't have a solid, proven business process. We are able now to enhance our
business processes through S/4.
It is really difficult to make good decisions with bad information, or bad data, or old data.
With a single point of truth and real-time data, our executives can make the best decisions
for the organization because of the increase in data integrity.
Because of the single general ledger, all transactions happen in real time, and so we don't
have to run batch processes to get real-time, financial information.
With SAP and a single point of control for roles and responsibilities, we were able to better
manage who has access to what and when.
This has helped GDT define roles inside the organization and put better controls in place. In
going through the implementation for SAP,
because we were bringing all the tools across the organization into one place, it brought
collaboration and joined departments together towards a common goal.
With SAP S/4HANA and real-time financials for projects, we are now able to get better
insights into our projects,
their success, and provide our customers with better quality of service.Because of all the
benefits with the business process improvement and real-time information,
as well as the flexibility SAP provides, we were better able to streamline our sales
process. So here are a couple of lessons that we learned at GDT:

29

00:08:45

Make sure that you provide more time for the data conversion phase of the
project.Organizational change management is another key activity throughout the entire
project.

00:08:57

Rushing this step can cause issues once you go live.It is better to do the due dilligence and
do the process correctly.
An ERP solution impacts all of the business, therefore all the business needs to be
involved.Don't bring any department to the table late in the game.
Thank you for watching. For more information about GDT, visit www.gdt.com.
