Yeoman
A Yeoman is a servant that serves the upper and wealthy classes.
They were very loyal companions that accompanied their master
when they needed them. In The Canterbury Tales, the yeoman
accompanies the knight on his travels.
The yeoman was described to be very responsible and takes care
of his equipment perfectly. He is very organized, does his job, and
doesnt pry into other peoples business because he is only concerned
about his own. The narrator finds him admirable.
He tends to his boss and cleans equipment and makes sure his
bows and arrows are perfect. He is the only servant to accompany the
knight. He also knows a lot about woodcraft. He was also a forester.
Chaucer doesnt use satire in the yeomans case because he
likes him. There is nothing to make fun of because he is an admirable
character.
He is described to be well dressed in a green coat and hood. He
is also brown-faced insinuating that he is tan from the sun. He also has
a close-cropped head. He carries peacock feathered arrows and a
dagger. He wears a Christopher medal and carries a horn, bow, sword
and shield.
