Easy Project Bag

Ing-credible Threads Designs

A very easy crochet pattern, suitable for beginners which gives a cute and useable project when
finished. It goes quickly using super bulky yarn and basic stitches.
Yarn: samples pictured are James Brett Animal Prints and Universal Bella Chenille and one
skein is all that is needed to complete the bag
Crochet hook size K
Pattern:
Chain 2, work 6 sc in second chain from hook
Next round- work 2 sc in each st around (12 sc)
The next rounds of increasing sts will require you to keep track of the number of sts, you might
want to place a marker in your first st to help you keep track
The next 6 rounds will add 6 sts per round to end up with 48 sc. The rounds are all worked in
the same manner as follows:
1- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next st), repeat around (18 sc)
2- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next 2 sts), repeat around (24sc)
3- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next 3 sts), repeat around (30sc)
4- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next 4 sts), repeat around (36sc)
5- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next 5 sts), repeat around (40sc)
6- (2sc in first st, 1sc in next 6 sts), repeat around (48sc)
Next round-sc in the back loop of each st around and join w/slip st in first sc, ch1 and place a
locking st marker in this stitch
Work 3 rounds of sc, joining w/sl st and chaining 1 for each round-moving st marker up every
round
Next round- decrease to 44 sts by working 2 sts together approx. every 10 sts evenly spaced
then work 3 more rounds of sc as above- joining w/sl st, etc
Next- decrease to 40 sts by working 2 sts together approx every 9 sts evenly spaced then work 3
more rounds of sc as above

Now you are going to work an eyelet round for the strap as follows:
Ch 3 when joining instead of chaining 1 as in previous rounds, then work 1 dc in next st,
(ch 1, skip 1, work 1 dc in next 2 sts), repeat around, join in top of ch 3
Work one round of sc and finish off.
Strap:
Chain desired amount, measure around bag and add enough extra to tie as shown if
desired
Next row -work 1 sc in each bump on the back of the chain sts instead of into the front
of the sts.
Sew in ends, thread the strap through the eyelets and enjoy your new bag!
