The natural language is the humans inherent way to represent and communicate

knowledge. However, the human knowledge is not comprehensible to the machines,

unless provided them with the necessary tools to do it. In this research a method for the
knowledge units extraction is exposed, as a part of an approach for a computational
model of discourse. The method proposes that a computational system analyze
syntactically the predicates of a simple sentence to obtain a semantic interpretation from
it. In order to do this, the syntactic structure of a simple sentence, several linguistic
analyzers and some methods for knowledge representation are studied. Finally, a system
capable to extract the implicit knowledge from a simple sentence is provided.
