To our wonderful year 1 Parents

Please find below the details for the Walkathon tomorrow. Importantly, please familiarize yourselves with the details
of how Teachers have full responsibility for your child and must remain with them until you sign them out. Also,
please remember that Parents do not join us for the walking along the beach, rather you will meet us at Brennan
Park (full details below). We thank you in advance for your support, fundraising and encouragement of this
important day in the school calendar.
Final Walkathon Details and Reminders
Thank you so much for supporting the 2016 Walkathon which will be held on Wednesday 10 August. The funds
raised this year will be used to finalise current P&F priorities with a view towards the construction of a new
playground included in our new building program.
Reminders:

Students attend class at St Peters for roll marking usual starting time
The school should have previously been notified of any student going straight to Woorim Beach (For role
marking purposes)
Students wear sports uniform including hat
Sunscreen should be applied before school and brought to school. Students will be encouraged to re-apply
on arrival at Brennan Park
All students must have a back pack, water bottle and a snack
Any student who cannot fully participate must bring a note- they will be accommodated with a
modified opportunity
A BBQ lunch will be provided for students (and families who have RSVPd) at Brennan Park
For safety and supervision purposes only staff and students will participate in the Walkathon- All families are
invited to go directly to Brennan Park to enjoy the facilities prior to our arrival
Parents are requested not to remove students from class groups- An early departure process will be
available for parents wishing to take their children home from Brennan Park
Money and Sponsorship Forms returned by Friday 12 August will be included in the ticket allocation
for the prize draw to be drawn on Friday 19 August (Apologies for the confusion as one of our notes had
the incorrect date)

Program:

9:00am Buses depart for Woorim Beach


On arrival students have their snack, remove shoes and socks and commence walkathon in class groups
under the supervision of class teacher- students must remain with their class and teacher
Older students lead off as they have further to walk
Prep -3 turnaround at 1.5km mark
4-6 turnaround at 2.5km mark
All students stamped on hand at turnaround point
10:00am Parents and younger siblings arrive at Brennan Park to enjoy facilities
11:30am Students and Teachers Board Buses (after feet wash) for Brennan Park- Roll Check
11:45am Buses arrive at Brennan Park for lunch and activities
Activities have been arranged for classes- Please leave students with class teachers for these activities
1:45pm Pack up and clean up- Roll Check
Shoes must be put back on before departure
Parents are permitted to take students home from Brennan Park at 1:45pm to save them returning to
school, however they must sign students out from the Early Departure tent and notify the class teacher so
that rolls can be marked
2:00pm Depart for School
3:00pm Dismissal as usual at end of school day

Prizes for walkathon:

Every child who raises $50 in sponsorship will receive a ticket to go into the draw for a $200 Westfield
Gift Card. A ticket is issued for each $50 raised.

Every child who raises $100 in sponsorship will receive a ticket in a draw for a $500 Westfield Gift Card.
A ticket is issued for each $100 raised.

EXAMPLE: A child who raises $150 gets three tickets in $200 Gift Card draw and one ticket in the $500 Gift
Card. A child who raises $200 will receive 4 tickets in the $200 Gift Card and 2 tickets in the $500 Gift Card.

The class that collects the most sponsorship (class average per student) will be rewarded with a day at the
movies and a pizza party afterwards.

There will also be a movie voucher for the individual who collects the most sponsorship in his/her
class.

There will be a $300 Westfield Gift Card for the student who raises the most money overall (whole of
school).

Prizes will be drawn/announced on assembly on Friday 19 August

Catering Returns have now been processed. Families who have responded will be catered for at Brennan Park on
August 10.
Notes:
Front office at school on 10 August will be attended by Mrs Madonna Ward from 7.30am. In case of emergency or
communication with the school is required, please ring the school number and your request will be re-directed.
P&F volunteers plus allocated staff will go straight to Brennan Park to set up the kitchen and commence cooking by
8.30am. Volunteer parents can meet them there at any time after 8.30am. Mrs Castelli, Mrs OMeara and Mrs
Freeth will go straight to Woorim at 8.30 am to mark out course and set up check points and first aid station etc. Ms
Tanner will go straight to Brennan Park to set up attendance marking station.
Parents are to go to Brennan Park at 10am. Parents are requested to go straight to Brennan Park and not
attend the walk at Woorim Beach . This is to allow our Safety and Supervision and procedures to function
efficiently. We want parents to go straight to Brennan Park to have a chance to be fed and have siblings
play on the amusement facilities before the bulk of the students arrive after 11.45am.
