School Year 2016-2017
Course Outline: 7th Grade Mathematics
Teacher: Mr. F. Lazaga (Rm. 23)
Website: iwmath.weebly.com

Course Objective: Island Warriors math is a hands-on class. While Mr. Lazaga facilitates the
teaching, every student is responsible for their own learning. As an Island Warrior he/she is expected
to contribute to the learning process individually and collectively as a team member.
In this course, students shall Succeed Academically by mastering the four basic math
operations. They will learn to identify many of the symbols used to express mathematical ideas,
explore operations with positive and negative integers, explore fractions, decimals, ratios, percents
and their relationship to each other, relate the concepts of number theory and algebraic thinking,
simplify decimals and fractions, solve equations and inequalities, define and classify geometric figures
and shapes, and explore ratios & proportions and their many applications. Furthermore will be able to
Adapt to Changing Times by understanding the concepts & use of the Pythagorean Theory and relate
its relevance to modern structures. They will learn how to find the area & volume of various polygons
and geometric solids, explore concepts of statistics and probability in the real world context. They can
Strive for a Better Tomorrow by enabling them with the math skills required to be competent in the
next grade.
In addition to handouts, the website listed above is designed to provide online information
about the day to day activities in this course, listing of upcoming lessons, homework details & even
the academic status of students.
