BIG PICTURE: STEP BACK IN TIME
BIG WORD: A huge cloud of witnesses is all around us. So let us throw off everything that stands in our
way. Let us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. Let us keep on running the race marked out
for us. Hebrews 12:1 (NIRV)

OVERVIEW
Week 1 (5th & 6th June)
BIG IDEA: Noah – A new beginning
BIG POINT: God keeps his promises
God promises us a new beginning. He loves us and cares for us and through Jesus we can have a new be-
ginning in our life. Just like God promised Noah a new beginning and rescued him, God rescues us.

Week 2 (12th & 13th June)

BIG IDEA: Joseph – The forgiving Prince
BIG POINT: Jesus forgave us & we can forgive others
Nothing we could do can make God love us less and nothing we could do can make God love us any more.
Through Jesus God made a way. He forgives us for the wrong things we do and has made a way for us to be
rescued. If God can forgive us, we can forgive others. Colossians 3:13 says “Forgive as the Lord forgave you”.
Joseph was a forgiving prince and the King of Kings Jesus forgives us.

Week 3 (19th & 20th June)

BIG IDEA: Esther – For such a time as this
BIG POINT: Have courage, God has positioned you
It took courage and boldness for Esther to approach the king without being invited. She was literally risking
her life. We need to have courage when we speak up for what is right. And like Esther, we can be sure that
when we trust God, things in our lives don’t always just happen by accident. You may be in the place where
you are “for a time like this”.

Week 4 (26th & 27th June)

BIG IDEA: Moses – 10 Ways to honour God
BIG POINT: I can honour God by obeying His word
The rules showed God’s people how to live, and how to be close to him, and how to be happy. They showed
how life worked best. 10 ways to honour God.
We can honour God by obeying His word. When we read his word we don’t just look at the page….we must
do what it says!

Discussion Questions
1. What sort of promises has God given to each of us in the Bible?
That He loves us, He will forgive us. He promises salvation to those who accept Him and eternal life
with Him in Heaven. He promises never to leave us.

2. In Hebrews 12:1, it talks about running a race marked out for us.
What things sometimes become obstacles in our race?
Things like being greedy, having unforgiveness, not trusting God etc. We pray to God and ask for
strength, and He promises that all things work together for good to those who love and serve Him faith-
fully. We can learn from the examples of people in God’s word of how we can live a great life for God too.

3. If God keeps His promises to us, what should we do when we make a promise to someone?
Being honest and keeping our promises is very important. Sometimes we might think it’s hard for us to
keep our promises but God can help us! Always do your best to make good choices and be true to your
word.

Big Word
“A huge cloud of witnesses is all around us. So let us throw off everything that stands in our way. Let
us throw off any sin that holds on to us so tightly. Let us keep on running the race marked out for us.”
Hebrews 12:1 (New International Reader’s Version)

Game
Ping Pong ball race
Materials Needed: Straws (1 for each child), ping pong balls
Divide your group into groups and mark out a play area with a start and finish line. Have the children line
up at the starting line (1 team at a time), and when you say “Go” they have to use the straw to blow their
ping pong ball over the finish line. The first to cross the line is the winner. Play the winners from each
group against each other to declare a grand champion.
