Spanish K-4 Parent Letter

Dear Parents,

August 2016

I am very excited to have your child in Spanish class! This is a

conversational-style class that incorporates the basics of the
language and culture into a 30-minute class twice a week. The
emphasis is on listening and gaining comprehensive input.
Each student will be given their grades Spanish spelling words
and he/she will be responsible for knowing the months words before
they come to Spanish class. In order for the class to move at a normal
pace, the students must come prepared for class.
It is expected that the student be able to use the previous grade
levels Spanish terms. For example, a third grader is expected to
remember the numbers, colors, alphabet, and foods that we studied
in second grade.
Students that study with supplementary materials do the best in
class, experience the highest confidence, and gain the most from the
lessons. Some free online Spanish resources are www.duolingo.com
and www.spanishspanish.com. There are other practice websites,
games, songs, and videos on my Spanish class website at
www.VisitationSpanish.weebly.com. You should see the more tab
and then a drop down menu of all the grades and what they are
studying at the moment along with useful resources to help your child
review Spanish.
Thank you for your cooperation and support! Lets have a fun
year!
