Procedure for the submission of site plans for a new connection enquiry

Introduction

Location Plan

In order to provide a connection offer, we

require one copy of the Location Plan and one
copy of the Site Layout Plan, together with
your application form.

1 All applications should have one Location

Plan enclosed. You must highlight the site
location on the plan.

The Location Plan shows where to find the

proposed site for the new connection. The
Site Layout Plan provides further details on
how the site is laid out and includes
dimensions of the new connection.

2 Location Plans can be obtained by using

A-Z street maps or via the internet, which is
now available at most public libraries. The
following internet sites offer instant Location
Plans:
multimap.com
ordsvy.gov.uk

Site Layout Plan

Meter position

1 In the absence of an architects drawing, all

applications need to have one site layout
plan enclosed. You must draw all proposed
buildings and accesses onto the site plan
showing accurate measurements.

Commercial supplies (up to 100 Amps) should

be installed in outdoor meter boxes. These
should be mounted onto an external wall on
the front or side elevation of the property in
front of any fence or gates to allow
unrestricted public access. They should be
fitted at a minimum height of 400mm and a
maximum height of 1,000mm from ground
level to the bottom of the box.

2 The full site address and proposed meter

position should be marked onto the plan
with an X (see across for guidelines on
meter positions).
3 The size of the new building should be
shown on the plan as well as its position onsite in relation to existing features of the site
plan using measurements.
4 Measurements should be taken and drawn
on the plan to show the position and size of
the new building to the nearest 0.1m.

The following meter positions are not

permitted:
at the rear of the property
at the side of the property behind fences or
gates
facing or opening directly onto public
footpaths or into alleyways or entries

5 Measurements should be taken from

permanent features on-site eg existing
buildings, boundaries, footpaths and kerb
lines. Measurements should be legible and
easy to read.

within a coal dustbin, refuse store, garage or

porch

6 Any existing buildings to be demolished

should also be marked on the plan.

Note: any proposal of indoor meter

positions will only be accepted where the
developer can demonstrate that the Local
Planning Authority will not permit an
outdoor meter box by virtue of the building
being listed, in a conservation area, or for
a commercial supply where a meter box is
not feasible eg shop frontage.

7 Please include the site boundary.

8 Please mark any access roads and
temporary accesses to the site.
Please do not take measurements from
doorways, gate posts, bay windows,
temporary posts and garden gateways or
street furniture eg lamps, signs and bollards.

3 Show the size

and position of
the new building

under windows, unless minimum installation

height can be achieved.
