What is the difference between reasoning, logical reasoning, verbal reasoning, data

interpretation, verbal ability, quantitative aptitude and all other such competitive exam terms?
QA (Quantitative Aptitude) = Maths
All questions pertaining to mathematical ability are grouped together in this section. Most
often, questions here will be like Time, Speed and Distance, Permutations and
Combinations, Mensuration (Area or Volume, etc.), and so on.

VARC (Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehenstion) = English

This section groups all English language questions in one place. You can be tested on how
good you are at reading and understanding English, by giving you short/long passages (RC
= Reading Comprehension). Or you can be tested on the grammar part of the section. Or on
the EU (English Usage) part which is basically all those questions which are based on the
correct/incorrect usage of English, for e.g. 'jumbled paragraphs'.

DILR (Data Interpretation & Logical Reasoning)

Interpreting Data means interpreting/understanding the given data and making sense out
of it. For e.g. if you are given a graph, or a lot of numbers about something, can you make
some sense out of it? If you can understand it, and answer some questions upon them, you
are basically doing Data Interpretation.

Reasoning means "thinking that is coherent and logical", so the questions in this part of the
test are based on ideas like 'is something like this possible?' or 'given these conditions,
which of the following statements is true?' and so on. There are different types of
Reasoning:
Inductive & Deductive
Verbal & Non-verbal:
This is the differentiation that you see mentioned a lot. Simply speaking, the reasoning
based questions which involve or are based upon words and/or sentences or their usage are
termed as Verbal Reasoning. Others are termed as Non-Verbal Reasoning. As a student
preparing for the tests, you shouldn't really worry about these details. They are not going to
be important to you while you attempt to score big.
