Choice Reads

Students will read at least 1 book outside of class per quarter. After reading the book students
will have the option of projects which they wish to complete. Students will be given two
characteristics of writing to focus on, such as characters, setting, rising action, falling action,
detailed writing, etc. Students may:

Write a short essay summarizing the book and emphasizing the assigned characteristics.
Draw a scene from the book.
Act out part of the book.
Create a short speech or presentation based on the book.
Create a playlist from the book.
Anything that shows effort, creativity, and emphasizes the characteristics required

The characteristics will change each quarter, and students will be made aware beforehand
what characteristics they will be focused on. For the first quarter, the students will be asked
to look for the Antagonist and Multiple Plot Lines.
