FAQs PENERAJU PROFESIONAL AKAUNTAN (PPA)

About the programme


1. What is this programme about? What does it aim to achieve?
PPA programme was launched in 2012 as an initiative in encouraging Bumiputera participation in the audit
industry.
Apart from offering professional accounting certifications like Association of Chartered Certified
Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and Malaysian
Institute of Certified Public Accountants-Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (MICPA-ICAA), the
scholars for this programme will be placed in prominent audit firms in Malaysia.
2. Who is this programme for?
This programme is open to Malaysian Bumiputera possessing a Bachelors Degree in ANY field with a final
CGPA of 3.00 and above. Young working adults with less than five (5) years working experience are
encouraged to apply but must not be more than 28 years of age on the closing date of registration.
Most importantly, Yayasan Peneraju is seeking young individuals with high aspirations for a successful
career in the audit industry in Malaysia. If you possess great fortitude, intense determination to succeed
and an ambitious career plan, this programme might just be for you.
3. What are the benefits of this programme and how is it different from other programmes?
This programme provides you the opportunity to obtain a professional accounting certification (ACCA,
ICAEW or MICPA-ICAA) as well as employment placement in one of the top international audit firms in
Malaysia for four years to gain the necessary experience in order to receive the charter.
4. Is this a scholarship or loan programme?
This programme is a convertible loan programme where only the annual subscription fees, initial
registration fees, exam fees and exemption fees will be put under a loan basis. However, scholars are
only required to pay only a maximum of 20% from the total of the mentioned fees upon completion of
the programme (terms and conditions apply). Further reductions in the payable amount will be subjected
to Yayasan Peneraju Pendidikan Bumiputera (Yayasan Peneraju)s discretion and scholar performance.
Other costs which include tuition fees, the preparatory development programme and mentoring will be
covered by Yayasan Peneraju as part of the programme.
5. Is this programme offered in all states in Malaysia?
This programme is offered in the Klang Valley only.
6. Which professional accounting certifications would I be able to pursue under this programme?
This programme gives you the opportunity to obtain a professional accounting certification from the
ACCA, ICAEW or MICPA ICAA.

7. Will I be working only in the audit firms?


Yes, as assigned. Although the audit firms offer other financial and business services such as advisory, tax
and other services, PPA programme is specifically designed to expose you to auditing. You can expect in
depth exposure in audit works during the four year term of the programme.
8. Who are the international audit firms involved in the PPA programme?
Yayasan Peneraju is proud to announce the collaboration with BDO, Deloitte, Ernst & Young, KPMG and
PwC.

Application
9. How do I apply for this programme?
Interested applicants can apply by visiting our website at www.penerajuedu.com. Read about the
programme and FAQs and if you meet the minimum requirement click on the online application link and
fill in your details. The official application for 2015 will be opened in April 2015, however, you can start
providing us your contact details at our website (www.penerajuedu.com) in order to be notified once
the application is open.
10. I am sure that there will be assessments for this programme. What is the structure of the
assessment?
An interview session will be part of an assessment process to select qualified Bumiputera candidates
who meet the application requirements for the programme. Besides the interview session, there are
other technical assessments that would take place.
11. If I pass the assessment, how I will be notified?
Those who pass the assessment will be notified in the form of a phone call and/or email.
12. What if Im currently taking my CAT / CFAB / CIMA-CBA /ACCA / CIMA / CPA Australia / ICAEW /
MICPA - ICAA papers? Can I still apply?
No. We only accept applications from applicants who have not started their certification papers.
13. What if Im currently working? Do I need to resign from my current employment if I wish to
undertake the PPA programme?
Yes. You need to resign from your current employment as the programme will require you to begin
employment in one of the partnering audit firms.
14. Do I have any say in my career placement into the partnering audit firms?
No. Placement in the audit firms will be determined by Yayasan Peneraju.

15. I dont have any finance/ accounting education background or working experience. How can I
possibly cope with studying for the certifications while working in the day with a prominent audit firm
at the same time?
The programme is designed to assist scholars in obtaining the professional certifications, despite working
in the partnering audit firms. Before reporting in to the audit firm, scholars will go through a Bridging
Programme which is aimed to assist with scholars work readiness to work in the audit firms.
Scholars will also be provided with tuition classes in preparing them for the professional certification
examination, at one of the prominent accounting institutions in Malaysia. All tuition fees will be borne by
Yayasan Peneraju.
Scholars will also be mentored by experienced professionals (appointed by Yayasan Peneraju) from the
industry to help them cope with the audit environment.

Other Details
16. Would I be bonded with Yayasan Peneraju after I have finished the programme? If yes, how many
years would the bond be in effect?
No. Scholars whom have completed the programme will not be bound by Yayasan Peneraju. As the PPA
is a 4 year programme, the continuation of employment with the partnering firm will be subjected to their
work performance and discretion of the respective audit firm.
17. Am I required to commit to any kind of official contract/ agreement?
Yes. An official offer will be made and scholars are required to enter into a scholarship agreement with
Yayasan Peneraju.
18. Would I be able to reject the offer if I am shortlisted?
Yes. The agreement is only binding after the programmes Scholarship Agreement is signed and
delivered to Yayasan Peneraju.
19. What are the consequences I would face, should the contract be breached?
Scholars who withdraw or who are terminated from the programme are required to pay all costs incurred
on behalf of the scholar to Yayasan Peneraju. The amount calculated by Yayasan Peneraju will be up to
the point of termination.
20. If I have received another loan/scholarship, am I still eligible to receive Yayasan Penerajus
loan/scholarship?
No. Only one scholarship is allowed at a time.
