Just looking at my bookshelf now and from my best recollection over the year,

here are some key texts which should keep you occupied prior to and during the
course:

Aerodynamics
Competition Car Aerodynamics Simon McBeath
Race Car Aerodynamics: Designing for Speed Joseph Katz
Aerodynamics of Road Vehicles Hucho
CFD
Computational Fluid Dynamics: The Basics with Applications Anderson
Computational Methods for Fluid Dynamics Ferziger, Peric
Vehicle Dynamics
Race Car Vehicle Dynamics Milliken, Milliken
Competition Car Suspension Alan Staniforth
Tune to Win Carroll Smith
Data Acquisition
Analysis Techniques for Racecar Data Acquisition Segers
Competition Car Data Logging Simon McBeath
Composite Materials
Competition Car Composites Simon McBeath
Business of Motorsport
Performance at the Limit Jenkins
Powertrain
Engines: An Introduction Lumley
Introduction to Internal Combustion Engines Stone
Structures
No set textbook from my end I referred back to my undergrad texts on aircraft
structural analysis with books such as Aircraft Structures for Engineering
Students Megson. Texts by Meriam and Kraige (both authors on same books)
Statics and Dynamics would be nice reference texts with good worked through
examples.

General
Formula 1 Technology Wright
The Science of Formula 1 Design David Tremayne
Bosch Automotive Handbook
Magazines: Racecar Engineering, Race Tech, Bernoulli

This list is pretty exhaustive and dont think for a second that I have read each
and every one of these cover to cover(!), but I have referred to each of them on
at least several occasions. My advice would be to ensure that your basic
engineering fundamentals are 100% up to date before starting the course. Keep
an eye out too for white papers released by automotive and motorsport
companies such as can be found at https://www.hondarandd.jp/ as these give a
great insight into how people in the business actually go about tackling real
world problems using the skills you will already have got from your undergrad
and will pick up on the MSc.
