Theoretical Framework

Managing time or learning to manage the way to use time is life skills
that will help students succeed in school and beyond. BSA Scholars or even
ordinary students definitely have different ways on how they manage their
time in studying. However of course, it will take a lot of courage and control
to discipline oneself in order to plan and prioritize their time wisely.
The theory of Time Management particularly the Time Quadrants of
Stephen Covey developed an excellent method of setting priorities by
examining each task in terms of urgency and importance. What are these
time quadrants? The first quadrant refers to the urgent and important goal
or the quadrant of necessity. The second quadrant is the not urgent, but
important, also known as the quadrant of opportunity. The third quadrant
is also called as the quadrant of deception, wherein it refers to urgent, but
not important classification of subject matters. Lastly, is the quadrant of
waste, not urgent and not important are classified in this fourth quadrant.
In the case of BSA scholars, their first quadrant definitely is not to lose
their scholarship and this can be done by maintaining the required grades.
Their second quadrant is to know the syllabus of all the subjects they are
enrolled in so they can do advance study. For the third quadrant, minimizing
phone calls and text messages would be of great help.

Lastly, the fourth

quadrant which as much as possible should be avoided like hanging out late

at night with friends, wasting time browsing the social networking sites and
others.
Finding out how BSA Scholars effectively and efficiently manage their
time in studying is the focus of this study, which can relate to the theory of
Time Quadrants of Stephen Covey. With this theory, the researchers will be
able to classify the responses of the BSA Scholars, and summarize it and
give resolutions, as well as conclusion of the said study.
