Prologue

It was a long and brutal journey, filled with many hardships, but I had finally
made it. The Land of Demons, where the Demon Lord resides. Im surprised at
how far Ive come since starting out in this world, but its time to end everything
and return peace to this world. Though of course, my primary objective lies even
beyond that.
I want to go home.
Following this simple wish, Ive made it this far. Nothing can stop me. After all,
Im
A hero from another world.

Chapter 1: If You Suddenly Died,

What Would You Do?

My name is Sakura Haruki. Its a pretty feminine name, and with my feminine
looks Ive been teased a lot by my friends. I was an average run-of-the-mill high
school boy, 16 years in age, and was enjoying life as usual with my friends.
On that particular day, I was walking back from school, thinking about the things
youd expect a healthy high school boy to think about: school, games, girls, and
dinner. Rather, what I was going to eat for dinner tonight.
As I was walking down the busy street, a small boy and girl caught my eye. They
were playing with a ball in the playground.
How nice, being that young and carefree, I thought, though I was pretty
carefree myself at the moment.
The boy suddenly grinned widely and tossed the ball with all his strength,
probably to impress the girl with his arm strength. Unfortunately, the girl
fumbled the ball, and it bounced out of her hands, towards the street. The girl
apologized to the boy and ran after the ball. Without paying attention to her
surroundings, she stepped out onto the street towards the ball.
Hey wait! Thats dangerous! I called out to her, but it didnt seem like she could
hear.

I quickly dropped my bag and ran after the girl. As I was about to reach her, I saw
an oncoming truck, its driver nodding off at the wheel. What was with this
stereotypical dangerous situation!? Without thinking I pushed the girl out of the
way, and after that, welleverything went black.
I thought to myself, I died, didnt I? Wait, why can I still think? And suddenly,
when I opened my eyes, I found myself lying in a lush meadow, completely
different from the busy street I was in before.
Somehow, in a manner unknown to me, I found myself transported from my
world into this one.

Chapter 2: If You Were

Summoned to Another World
as a Hero, What Would You Do?
Well, to make a long story short, I later found out that I was a hero summoned by
the goddess of this world. My role was to bring back peace by defeating the
Demon Lord. This videogame-like setting sounded fun at first, but it was
excruciatingly difficult in the very beginning you know?
Apparently there was a kind of magic in this world that allowed you to view your
own stats, but they would be hidden from everyone else unless you gave them
permission to look. My stats started out something like this.

It really did feel like a videogame. Incidentally, you could focus on any one of
these items and itd give you a more detailed description of the status. For
example, if I selected Light Magic, itd tell me:

Anyway, even though I started out with these basic stats, I found friends to party
with in the first town I arrived in. I became an adventurer and joined the
Adventurers Guild. In order to level up, I trained freaking hard with the
monsters in the area. After that, I gained the legendary sword Gram by
defeating the legendary trial of heroes. After a few trials, I became the official
hero with blessings from the kingdom. And finally I travelled to the Land of
Demons with this party. All pretty standard hero stuff.
And now, as a fully fledged hero, Ive finally reached this point. There were tons
of hardships along the way, but its time to bring an end to all of this. Incidentally,
my stats by this point look something like this.

Pretty awesome right? And dont think I got any extra benefits just because Im
the hero. It was a massive pain in the butt to achieve all these stats and items you
know? This world just had to be like a game in the strangest parts, with all the
grinding and whatnot.
Anyway, I digress. Weve finally reached the castle where the Demon Lord
resides. This is the final confrontation. After this, Ill finally be able to go home
Lets do this!

Chapter 3: If You Were Fighting

S-Strong. I cant believe the entire party was wiped out so fast. Im just barely
hanging on with a sliver of my HP as well. I look around at the bodies of my
fallen comrades. The friends Ive travelled so far with. With tears in my eyes I
muster all my hatred towards the culprit.

The Demon Lord.

As expected of someone with this title, he has a menacing aura about him. He
doesnt have horns or wings or anything. In fact, he looked pretty human, except
for his pointed ears that was characteristic of the Demon Race. From an objective
standpoint Id say he was pretty good looking. Not that Im into guys or anything.
But I digress.
He was super strong as expected. Even with my Darkness Resistance maxed, his
magic dealt tons of damage to me. Its scary to see a wall of purple and black
rushing towards you, you know? Just how much MP did this guy have? So
broken. He also used a demonic sword called Darkness Edge that was on par
with my holy sword. God the chuunibyou was strong.
The sword was similar in size to my Holy Sword Gram, which was a onehanded sword imbued with the power Light through the three gems that were
embedded in the hand guard and hilt. Darkness Edge however had a more
elaborate design with a curved hand guard surrounding the blade.
With my love, my anger, and all of my sorrow (lol), I used my remaining MP to
cast a holy aura around my Gram. I charged towards the Demon Lord,
avoiding the barrage of darkness magic he shot at me.
Taaaaaakee.. THISSSSSS!!! I screamed and swung the sword down, releasing a

wave of holy aura. I had put all of my MP and spirit into that blow you know?
The Demon Lord screamed with pain as the wave collided with him, blowing
him back into a wall.
Though I was on the verge of losing consciousness, I limped over to the collapsed
Demon Lord to see whether I had emerged victorious. There was a smoldering
gash across his chest from the Holy Damage that he was weak to. Blood was
pooling out from underneath him and I knew that he would not rise again. After
confirming that the Demon Lord was slain, I collapsed next to him.
I had finally done it I would be able to return homenow These were my
thoughts as I slowly lost consciousness. I felt a warm light envelop me and I knew
that this was the end. Id finally be able to return to my peaceful life back in Japan.
I would never forget the life that I had lived and the lives of my allies. As my
consciousness dimmed, I swore to always remember them in my heart

Chapter 4: If You Were Made to

Start Over, What Would You
Do?
I felt the warm sunlight on my face as I gradually regained consciousness. I
opened my eyes, allowing them to adjust to the sudden brightness. I found myself
in.

A lush meadow with woodlands and a village at the bottom of the hill.
NOOOOOOOOOO. THIS WAS ALL WRONG. HOW DID I END UP BACK
AT THE STARTING POINT?
I rolled around in the grass in despair for about 10 minutes or so, and finally got
the motivation to head into town to see what was going on.
The village looked more or less unchanged from the time I came to this world
and started my journey. The streets were bustling as usual despite it being only a
mid-sized village. Adventurers were coming in and out of the city, embarking
and returning from quests. I had fond memories of this place, the village called
Lunaria.
I roamed down the marketplace like I had the first time I came here, observing
the stall owners calling out to adventurers to take a gander at the merchandise
they had on sale. Suddenly, two grinning rugged looking guys came and stood in
my way. Oh boy, not this pattern again.
Hey hey, you there. Come with us for a bit wont you? he snickered. They stared
at me with a strange look in their eyes. Did they have this weird expression
before?
The first time I came here I was faced with a similar situation. Now that I think
about it, by these same two guys. The me back then was completely new to this

world and I had no idea what was going on, so I was extremely troubled, but this
time was different.
You guys dont ever change do you? I said with a sigh. Hmm? Something was
wrong with my voice.
Huh? Dont act like you know us or anything. I havent seen you around these
parts before. Just shut up and be obedient, one of the bandits said, getting
irritated. He suddenly grabbed my arm. This was starting to get on my nerves and
I was about to say something, but then a voice suddenly called out from behind.
Hey, you two. Leave that person alone!
N-No, way this voice this pattern I quickly turned around and saw the face
of someone Id never forget.
He was a big burly man with a bald head. His outward appearance looked super
rugged, especially with the stern look on his face. He had a large hammer hanging
by a leather strap at his belt and a massive buckler on his back.
He was one of my friends and party members with whom I fought the Demon
Lord with. The tank Bernard.
I was too speechless to react. During my first time here in this town Bernard was
the one who had rescued me from these two ruffians and guided me around. He

helped me register as an adventurer, introduced me to his party, and then helped

me train until I caught up to their levels.
But I clearly remember him getting impaled and decapitated by the Demon Lords
Darkness Edge. okay lets not think about that, I think I might puke.
Tch, the two ruffians spat out and quickly retreated. Bernard had a fairly good
reputation for being just around these parts after all.
Whew, those guys are up to no good as usual. Its a good thing no harm befell
you, Bernard said as he walked up to me.
Iuhhowbut I could only utter stupidly.
Hmm? Hoho, have you fallen for my charms, young lady? Unfortunately for you
I already have a wife and an adorable daughter, Bernard grinned as he struck a
pose.
No, but I.wait a minute, what did you just say? Come to think of it, something
has been tickling my back all this time. I was too distraught by my predicament to
notice but
Reaching up and touching my hair, I found long silky silver hair that was
completely different from the messy black hair I used to have

N-No way, Ive really become a girl wait, even more than that, what the heck
was wrong with these stats? Was it some kind of bug? But Im not actually in a
game am I? The Level, HP, MP, and skills were pretty strange, but what caught
my eye were the error statuses in my job, strength, and endurance. And the 1 in
Luck. My Luck had always been 0, but somehow it decreased even further???
What would that even mean? Also I had the Demon Lords sword? Had I
somehow picked it up after I defeated him?
Anyway, I had followed Bernard to the Adventurers Guild, much like the first
time we met. I was more or less too much in shock to say anything to him. He

would look worriedly at me over his shoulder as I followed him, but he didnt say
anything.
In the Adventurers Guild, I managed to catch a glimpse of my own reflection. I
gasped at the sight before me.
The person facing me was a young girl in her teens. She had long, flowing, silver
hair that reached down to her back. Her eyes were a deep purple with a confused
look expression on her delicate face. She had a slender figure and modest bump at
her chest. Naturally, the personage I was looking at was myself.
Wait, ARENT I A SUPER PRETTY GIRL? Im just my type too, though thats a
weird thing to say. No wonder those ruffians and Bernard were giving me
strange looks!
Ah right, missy, whats your name? It feels rude to call you missy all the time,
Bernard finally spoke up while I had been standing looking at the reflection in the
window.
Ah, my name is Haruk I mean Haruna, I hastily corrected myself. I would die
of embarrassment if Bernard found out that I had turned into a girl!
Oh, what a pretty name for a pretty miss. My name is Bernard, an adventurer
around these parts. Whats a lady like you doing traveling alone though? Its
dangerous, especially for someone like you, he asked with concern.

Huh, ah uh I wanted to become an adventurer! I quickly came up with an

excuse on spot. By the way, Bernard-san, arent you supposed to be on a quest to
slay the Demon Lord right now with the hero Haruki?
Huh? PPFFFFFFT. AHAHAHAHAHA. THATS THE BEST JOKE IVE
HEARD ALL DAY, Bernard roared with sudden laughter. I may be pretty
famous around these parts, but theres no way Im good enough to be on the
heros party! And whos Haruki anyway?
.huh?

Chapter 6: If You Were Asked

To Join a Party, What Would
You Do?
So. Lets get the facts in order to figure this problem out.
1. I defeated the Demon Lord and woke up in the town I first started out in.
2. I somehow turned into a girl and something is wrong with my stats.
3. Ive been experiencing a very similar sequence of events as to when I first
started out.
4. Bernard and his friends have never met the hero Haruki and were never part of
the hero party.
5. I found out through Bernard that the date. is 3 months before I defeated the

Demon Lord!? In other words, the time I first arrived in this world?
WAIT, SOMEHOW I TIME SLIPPED? Well I think a few other important
things changed as well so I dont know if I can call it a time slip but
Bernard didnt seem to notice my distress and seemed to be thinking about
something.
Hey Haruna-chan. You said that you wanted to become an adventurer? Have you
registered at this guild yet?
Uh, no not yet, I said hesitantly. Well, if I really did go through a time slip, then
it was true that I wouldnt be registered yet.
Okay, well get that sorted out. And what about a party? Have you found one yet?
If you havent, would you be willing to start out in mine?
Ahhh right. This happened earlier too. This was where I was first introduced to
Bernards party and joined them in order to train. From here on out I would go
on an adventure to defeat the Demon Lord with them in a fight that would cost
them their lives. Remembering that I still felt guilt crawling up my back. After all,
this fight had only happened hours before for me. Bernard even had said that he
had a wife and kid waiting for him back home. He used to speak fondly of them
whenever we sat beside the campfire. There was no way I could let him and the
others go through the same experience again, especially now that I knew what

events would transpire.

Aaah, thats right. I had some friends waiting for me back home that I promised
to form a party with. I just came to register as an adventurer first, I made up a lie
on the spot. I was pretty bad at lying, but I had to fool him somehow.
Ah, is that so. Well, its a shame but I wish you luck! Let me know if theres
anything I can do for you. Ill help you fill out the application for registering as an
adventurer, Bernard said. He had always been this hopelessly nice kind of guy
and I couldnt let him go through what he had the last time.
He went with me to the counter where he talked with the attendant. She handed
me a piece of paper to fill out and sign. It was weird having to write Haruna
Sakura, but I would have to make do for now. However, I got stuck on the Job
part of the application. I was still a Swordsman right? Despite the fact that it was
listed as error in my Status window. Well, thats what Ill put I guess.
Okay, thank you Haruna Sakura-sama. Youve been registered as a Swordsman
with the Adventurers Guild. Would you like me to look for jobs for you straight
away? the attendant offered kindly.
Aaah, yes, a very simple subjugation job if possible, I said. I needed to find out
what had happened to my status.
There were mainly three types of quests that could be taken at the Adventurers

Guild.
There were collection type quests in which a certain item could be requested in
any quantity. This was the most basic type of quests that didnt necessarily
involved fighting monsters. All the adventurer had to do was collect the
requested amount in order to receive the reward.
There were subjugation type quests in which the adventurer would be asked to
slay a certain number of monsters. These generally came and went with the
situation but there were always basic subjugation quests available for monsters
that were abundant. While the level of difficulty varied on the monster that was
requested, this was generally not something a rookie adventurer should take
straight off the bat.
The final type was protection type quests, where the adventurer would be asked
to guard a certain person or item. The client would set how long the adventurer
needed to protect the item or individual in question, and generally there would be
some kind of punishment attached for failing to do so. However, the rewards for
completing this type of quests were generally much better than the other two
types.
Are you sure youll be okay with a subjugation job straight away? Bernard
looked worriedly at me.

Ahaha, you dont need to worry about me, I have some experience with this kind
of thing, I said awkwardly.
Well, how about this one, a quest to go slay five Forest Wolves? the attendant
asked after digging through some files.
Forest Wolves were a common monster found in the woodlands near this village.
They were monsters that werent all that strong, but they tended to travel in
packs, making them the perfect monster for a competent rookie to train with.
Thatll be perfect, thanks! I accepted with gratitude. Though Bernard insisted
on coming at first, I was able to get him to reluctantly leave. I felt sorry for
refusing his kindness, but I couldnt get him involved with me further than he
already had.
Well, lets see how this turns out

Chapter 7: If You Were Given

Cheat Stats, What Would You
Do?
I arrived in the nearby forest where Forest Wolves were commonly found. I had
to kill a ton of these while grinding my first time around. Normally they travelled
in packs and a party was recommended, but I couldnt let anyone see me testing

out these new stats. How would I even explain it?

Snarl.
Suddenly I heard the sound of several snarls surrounding me. Before I knew it
Forest Wolves began appearing from the trees, quickly encircling me and
blocking my means of escape. Though I really didnt have any plans to escape. I
counted around seven of them.
Sigh, I could easily have taken care of these guys with my previous stats, and I
have no idea whats going to happen with these stats, but here goes nothing, I
drew both swords from my inventory and equipped them. The Holy Sword
Gram and the Demonic Sword Darkness Edge. Though I wasnt really used
to dual wielding, I had two legendary swords of equal strength. It would be a
waste not to use them both, said the chuunibyou inside me.
Suddenly, one of the wolves lunged at me, fangs bared.
Whoa, so suddenly!? I quickly sidestepped to avoid the attack. My movements
felt much lighter than they used to, though that could be because I wasnt wearing
my heavy Mithril Armor anymore.
Take this! I swung down with the Demonic Sword, slicing through the wolf
easily and killing it in one blow. This sword really was as good as my Holy Sword.

As this was happening one of the wolves attacked me from behind and dug its
fangs into my shoulder. It had caught me off guard and I was expecting some pain
but
The wolfs fangs shattered as it bit down on my shoulder.
Huh?
I quickly dispatched the other wolf with my Holy Sword, and quickly examined
my shoulder. Though there were now holes in the clothes, my shoulder was still
completely intact. Skin pure and white even. Though I had been pretty tough
before, there was no way that I would have gotten out of this undamaged.
Well, the Endurance stat seems to be insane at least What about Agility? I
made a stance, both swords hanging low at my side. I faced one of the wolves that
was cautiously keeping its distance from me after seeing my previous
performance.
Kicking off from the ground, I wait holy crap, how fast was I going!? I was
approaching the wolf much faster than I had anticipated and before I knew it I
was right in front of it. The wolf didnt even have time to react even with its
animal instincts. I quickly delivered a cross cut with both my swords and the wolf
was sliced into pieces. A small sonic boom had formed behind me, blowing away
trees and wolves.

What the heck is wrong with these stats, arent they completely broken!? I had
becoming something like a last boss character!
After seeing all of this, the remaining wolves ran away. Luckily for me, the sonic
boom had managed to kill three other wolves, allowing me to collect five wolf
tails that were needed as the evidence for the subjugation quest.
I brought up the status window to see the changes in my condition. The bite
from the wolf had shaved off only 1 HP. Seriously, what was the point of having
this insanely high HP?
I really need to be careful with these stats though huh. I still dont know the
extent of the Strength and Magic stats I could cause some serious trouble if I
wasnt careful. Sigh, SUCH A PAIN.

Chapter 8: If You Failed to

Become the Hero, What Would
You Do?
I lived a pretty low-key life in the village, trying to make sure I didnt stand out
too much. There was no telling how much trouble I could stir if someone caught
me using these cheat-like stats. I had enough money to stay at the taverns without
having to take too many jobs, since I appeared to have kept all my money from
the previous timeline. Whoever did this could have at least given me more

money if they were going to break all my stats like this.

Living as a girl at first was pretty difficult you know? The first time I had to use
the restroom I resisted until I almost wet myself. I gave up just when it was about
to leak out, but it was super embarrassing. Finding enough courage to take a bath
took a while too, but I couldnt let my looks go to waste. I didnt have any ulterior
motives or anything. Nope. None. And dont get me started on finding clothes
and undergarments
This new form of mine seems to attract a lot of attention, even when Im simply
walking around town. Often times crude male adventurers will try to hail me
over to buy me a drink, but I flatly refuse them. Being a guy inside, Im not really
into guys. That, and Im still underage, you know? Minors really shouldnt drink.
Its not like Im weak to alcohol or anything.
Around a week had passed when I realized that since time had reset, the Demon
Lord would be very much alive and kicking. It was highly probable that the
Demon Lord would have some kind of knowledge as to what happened to me,
seeing as how it happened right after I defeated him. Although I no longer had a
party to fight with, my newfound strengths would probably be more than enough
for this task. I should probably go to the Royal State in order to speak with the
king, especially while I still had time.
In my previous time, the Royal State was attacked by an invasion of demons. My

party and I had travelled to the Royal State to figure out more about what we
were going to do from now on, as we had recently acquired the Holy Sword
Gram. When the alarm for the invasion rang, we quickly joined forces with the
army to try to restore order.
Though the invasion was successfully quelled, it was not without losses. The king
and his daughter, the princess, lost their lives in the invasion, causing a severe
blow to the kingdom. The queen took up the throne and gave the hero party her
blessings to journey to subjugate the Demon Lord.
Since I already had Gram this time around, I probably didnt need to waste time
getting it again. I would go to the Royal State and warn the king, offering my
services as the hero as well. If we prepared the army soon enough, perhaps we
could minimize the damage from the invasion.
With these hopeful thoughts in mind, I headed towards the Royal State
Ahahahaha, a young girl like you? The hero? You tell very good jokes little girl.
I was ridiculed by the king. This world was very patriarchal in its roots and all the
heroes of old had traditionally been male. There was good reason for him to
distrust my story but
Its true! If we dont do anything, the demon invasion will come and wipe this
place out!

Look little girl, Id be willing to believe you if you were able to show some
evidence. At least some background on how you acquired such knowledge. But
you havent been able to show us anything, the king said. Im growing tired of
listening to your tall tales. Guards, please escort this young lady out.
Wait, you dont understand! I shouted, but it seemed like the king was already
done lending me an ear. He waved his hands and a couple of guards came to
escort me out. I could have resisted if I wanted to with these insane stats of mine,
but I kind of fell limp in their grip from disappointment. I thought about telling
them I had travelled back in time, but I feared that would make my story seem
even crazier.
Please dont bother the king with these crazy stories again, said one of the
guards, as he shut the gate to the Royal Palace.
Ugh, if somebody didnt do something, the invasion would come again. Though I
had confidence in my newfound powers, I dont think I could fend off an entire
invasion by myself. There was no hero party to aid the army this time either so I
had no idea how the results would turn out.
I guess theres no choice. Ill have to go and defeat the Demon Lord myself.

Chapter 9: If You Suddenly

Gained a New Ally, What

Would You Do?
After preparing for the journey to the Land of Demons, I got up early the next
day to depart. It was going to be a lonely one week journey traveling to the Land
of Demons by myself, but Ive got to bear with it for now.
Just as I was about to set off, I heard a voice calling out to me.
Please wait!
I turned around and saw a girl my age with a backpack running towards me. She
had purple hair tied up with a hairpin and clear blue eyes. Her face was incredibly
beautiful, shall I arrogantly say on par with mine? Her body seemed to be fairly
well proportioned, especially around the chest area. I stared at my own chest, and
then back up at hers. God was pretty unfair
She caught up to me and took a moment to catch her breath. When it seemed like
she had recovered, she faced me and said, What you said back in the Royal
Palace yesterday, is that true?
Hmm? Ah yeah, about the invasion? I cant really tell you how I know, but I
know for certain itll happen unless I stop it, I said. Was this girl in the Royal
Palace yesterday? I didnt remember seeing her. She was probably just a maid or

something who was passing by the royal chamber while I was having an audience
with the king. I wasnt sure whether or not shed believe that I was a guy and that
I had time slipped, so I decided to leave that fact hidden for now.
I-Id like to join you on your adventure to stop the Demon Lord! the girl
suddenly proclaimed after mustering her courage.
Hah? I was taken aback by her enthusiasm. Errrr, but itll be dangerous you
know? Were going directly into enemy territory. And the Demon Lord is
suuuuuuuper strong!
Im aware of the dangers associated with this, but I cant back down after hearing
that the kingdom is in peril, the girl said with determination. Im a mage with
the ability to use Light, Healing, and Water magic so I believe Ill be of some use
to you!
Well, though I hadnt tested my magic, if my status was to be believed, Id
apparently mastered all sorts of magic so I didnt really require a mage. But this
girl seemed to be pretty determined to go.
Hmmm, what to do I said with a troubled expression on my face.
Please! This is something that I must see through. I can even cook!
Please cook breakfast for me every day.

I. huh? she had a confused expression on her face. Though I had packed
rations for the trip, I honestly had no cooking ability. I had left that to my party
members during our journey in the last time. In my life back in my world, I was
just a high school boy living off my mothers cooking after all. There was no
reason to learn to cook. Having someone with the ability to cook would be a
welcome addition on this journey. And well, I had enough confidence to be able
to protect at least one party member.
Arent you going to ask about my circumstances? she asked. Though she had
seemed determined to persuade me until the very end, it seemed she was puzzled
by how easily I had given in.
Hmm, Im sure you have your reasons, as I have my own, so I wont pry too
deeply into it, I said with ease.
W-Well, thank you so much and pleased to make your acquaintance, my name
is. uh, Rei Reika! she said after thinking for a bit. Well, I didnt particularly
care if she had a reason to hide her name. After all, I had secrets of my own.
Nice to meet you Reika! Im Haruna, I said with an overjoyed expression on my
face. Wife, I mean Cook get!
And with introductions out of the way, our party of two started our journey
towards the Land of Demons.

Chapter 9.5: If You Heard that

the Kingdom Was In Danger,
What Would You Do?
I had accidentally heard it while passing by the doors to the Royal Chamber. An
invasion from the Land of Demons? Why wasnt the king taking this more
seriously? Was it because the person that was warning them was a girl my age?
I hid when the guards came carrying the despondent girl out, and when I chased
after them to find the girl, I couldnt see any trace of her. Deeply concerned about
what she had said though, I made some preparations and went around town
asking about her.
After asking around, I learned that she was preparing to go on a journey. A
beautiful girl like her stood out after all. She had visited the blacksmith and the
grocers, buying equipment and supplies. Connecting the dots, it only made sense
that this journeys purpose was to prevent the invasion that would come upon
this place.
I quickly returned home and made preparations to leave. After asking the
innkeep of the inn she was staying at, I knew shed leave first thing in the
morning, so Id have to get up early as well. If the king wasnt going to take any
action, then Id have to take matters into my own hands.

Though initially I was afraid I had missed the departure of the girl, I was able to
see her figure leaving the gates at the crack of dawn. I quickly chased after her and
after persuasion was able to join her party. She caved in surprisingly quickly, and
she had a blissful expression on her face. What a strange person. She seemed
oddly concerned about my breasts though. Was she self-conscious about her own
size? I think that shes super pretty the way she is though.
When I was asked for my name, I panicked a bit. I was able to come up with
something on spot, and she seemed to buy it. I feel bad about hiding my name,
theres no helping it. Im just thankful she didnt recognize me from my face
alone.
This Haruna person seems to be hiding secrets of her own, but for some reason I
feel that in order to stop this invasion, I need to join her on this adventure. Lets
just hope that there arent too many mishaps!

Chapter 10: If You Were

Traveling Alone with a Girl,
What Would You Do?
Delicious! I said, munching on the sandwich that Reika had made while making
our way down the path. It had been two days since wed started our journey and
frankly, all of Reikas meals were delicious. Seriously wife material.

S-STRONG!!! Reika stood a bit behind me, in her ready stance as a mage, but
she was more or less frozen in place due to shock.
Oh, did I not mention? We were currently being attacked by a mob of goblins and
trolls. Pretty much your standard fare of monsters, these were aplenty on the way
to the Land of Demons. Goblins were slightly shorter than humans with
grotesque faces and often wielded weapons such as swords, daggers, and bows.
Trolls were massive 2 meter tall giants that often used the branches of trees or
saplings.
I was easily dispatching the mob with my Iron Sword while enjoying the
sandwiches Reika had made for us before we were beset by these monsters. I had
bought the cheap Iron Sword while I was in the Royal State because well, I
couldnt just bring out legendary weapons as I pleased could I? Apparently though
this made no difference as I cleanly cleaved a troll in half with one swing of my
Iron Sword. I kicked another troll back into a group of goblins, smashing a few in
the process.
These cheat-like stats really came in handy. I wasnt even breaking a sweat and
these monsters were failing to put even a scratch on me. After seeing all this, the
remaining goblins and trolls fled like crazy. Whew, it would have been annoying
to go around killing all of them.
C-Could Haruna-sama be stronger than the Hero? Reika said as she ran up to

my side, quickly checking me for any injuries. Id given up asserting that I was the
hero because no one would believe me in this world. Because heroes were all
male. Even though I was a male. Previously anyway.
Ha. Ru. Na. Chan! I reminded her again. Over the past few days shed been
calling me Haruna-sama, which made me all itchy and uncomfortable inside. I
kept insisting on calling her Haruna-chan, but it seems like she wasnt used to it
yet.
A-Ah, Im sorry, Haruna-chan, she said awkwardly. It seemed like she wasnt
very used to calling people informally. I guess this came with the job. Maids had
to be pretty respectful all the time.
Hmm? Come to think of it, is there a current hero? I asked.
Well, no not currently. But there are a few hero candidates in training in the
Royal Palace, she explained. Each one of them has the potential to become the
hero, though the one who has the most favor to become the hero is Hero
Candidate Shion.
Hmm who was that I wonder? Nope never heard of him. Though I guess I feel
sorry for stealing his thunder in the previous time. He can have the position this
time around I guess.
Ugh, its been two days since Ive been able to take a bath though, Reika

complained. It wouldnt be good for a couple of beautiful girls to go on like this, I

agreed.
Hmm, youre right. lets see what I can do, I contemplated for a second before
deciding. I put my hand on the ground and poured my mana into it.
Earth Magic: Crater. The ground began to depress underneath us rapidly, as a
loud rumbling filled the area. The massive crater was forming under us through
the power of my magic. It cleared the surrounding forest, making a large space
about 20 kilometers in diameter.
W-What in the world!? Reika screamed as she saw the spectacle before her
eyes. Crater was a Lv. 10 Earth Magic, and while it wasnt unusual to see Earth
Magic users reach Lv. 10, the scale on which I had used Crater was completely
different. It had cost me 100000 MP after all (teehee).
Next I gathered my magic in front of me to generate Water Magic: Water Ball.
This time it was a Lv. 1 magic, the most basic of water spells. Except I had poured
50000 MP into it.
Reika collapsed on the ground as she stared up at the enormous water ball
floating above the crater. I let the Water Ball fall and with a thunderous roar
water poured into the crater. I could hardly hear Reika scream from all the noise.
A spray of cool mist washed over us.

And now, for the finishing touch! I generated a Lv. 1 Fire Magic: Fire Ball (this
time only 20000 MP!) and let it sink into the center of the pool of water. Loud
hissing and sizzling could be heard as the Fire Ball sank deeper and deeper into
the water.
Moments later you could see a nice hazy layer of steam above the water and the
water bubbling pleasantly. I poked my hand into the water to check the
temperature. Perfect!
Yep, I was kind of worried about how it would turn out, but it seems like I did
fine! Hm? Reika, are you okay? I asked Reika, who was pretty much collapsed on
the floor with the whites of her eyes showing.

Chapter 11: If You Accidentally

I was lectured by Reika after she regained consciousness. We were both in the

bath now, though I was considerably far from her forwell, reasons I think you
can imagine.
Creating an entire lake just for a bath, your actions just completely go beyond
normal reasoning! she puffed. You say that but you look like youre enjoying the
bath quite a bit And why are you sitting so far away? Were both girls so theres
nothing to be embarrassed about.
Aaah well uhhhhh, I dont really have much confidence in my body, I made up a
lie. Oh all the lies Ive had to tell this time around.
Hmmm, so you are conscious of your breasts after all I think theyre perfectly
fine though! Id even call you cute and stylish! If only you had just a little more
common sense youd be the perfect girl, she said trying to console me.
I dont know if being called cute makes me happy though!? I am a guy on the
inside after all.
T-Thanks. But Reika, youre super pretty as well! And your proportions are
perfect. I bet you get a lot of guys asking you out.
Hmmm, is that so? I dont really know about that. I havent met many men after
all Was she some kind of super sheltered girl? I did suspect that she did live
inside the Royal Palace. I guess all maids practically lived their lives in the Royal
Palace.

Haha, well, if someone as pretty as Haruna says so, she giggled. Oh god, was this
the fabled girls talk? Ive never had a girlfriend before so I had no idea what to
talk about with girls. Even while traveling with some of the girls in my party it
was awkward to start small talk with them. Itd usually be talk about the journey
or equipment.
So Haruna, have you had any experience with men then?
M-Me!? Eehhhhhhh, nope! Sorry, Im not into that!
Hmm, thats surprising. With your looks I thought tons of guys would be
fawning over you. I guess your personality really does scare them off, Reika
chuckled.
Well, thats fine. Im not really interested in romance right now anyway. With
another guy. Sigh, would I ever be able to return to my original body and find
someone pretty and nice as Reika? I began imaging how it would be to date
someone like her.
Hmmm, so what are you doing so far out here anyway? I suddenly heard a
whisper in my ear.
R-Reika!? I jumped with surprise. While I wasnt paying attention, she had

snuck up behind me.

Lets get to know each other better! she said, grabbing me from behind. Youre
my first female friend after all! She had somewhat of a shy, yet overjoyed
expression on her face as she said this.
That makes me happy I guess, but this is so wroooooong!

Chapter 12: If You Decided to

Take Cooking Lessons, What
Would You Do?
Its been about a week since Ive started traveling with Reika. Night was about to
settle and we had just made camp to settle down for the night. I was watching
Reika start preparing a meal when I was struck with sudden inspiration.
Hey Reika, can you teach me how to cook?
Hmm? Whats with the sudden request? Its fine, I can take care of the cooking
myself! Not like you need my help while fighting anyway, she looked like she
was sulking a little.

Aaahh, well, its something I figured would be useful later in life, and I have no
one else I can ask. After all youre my only friend in this world! I pleaded.
That seemed to lift her mood a little. Sigh, fine, I guess you can help me prepare
this stew then. It should be simple enough for even someone lacking in common
sense like you.
Yes, Tutor get! I pumped my fist. By the way Reika, where did you learn to
cook? Your food is super delicious!
Hmm? Oh, uhhh. well, Ive pretty much grown up my whole life in the Royal
Palace, she said hesitantly. Well, that was to be expected from a maid who served
at the Royal Palace I guess. Ever since I was young, I was a bit of a troublemaker.
I would run around learning magic from the court mages and cooking from the
royal chefs. I guess I wanted to learn a little bit of everything. She looked a bit
embarrassed.
Whoa, cooking from the royal chefs. No wonder youre so good at cooking!
Haha, I guess its just that I wanted to do everything I could to help my father,
even if it was in the most trivial way. There wasnt much else I could do for him
after all, Reika had a distant look in her eyes. Her father huh. He must be
someone serving in the Royal Palace.
Anyway, thats enough about me, she suddenly broke out of her trance and

began to instruct me. Lets get started on your cooking training. First, can you
help me chop up these vegetables into bite sized pieces?
Hmmm, cutting? Seemed easy enough. I took the carrots and potatoes that Reika
handed to me.
Peel the skin off the vegetables and then chop them up! She demonstrated with
one of the potatoes, skillfully wielding the knife and peeling it while turning the
potato. She then handed the small knife to me. Now you try, just like I showed
you.
I put the blade of the knife to a potato and meticulously started to peel them. It
was pretty difficult. I couldnt get the peel to stay connected and I would often lop
off pieces of potato.
Ugh, this is taking too long. How about this? I gathered mana into my hand and
cast Wind Magic: Wind Cutter. What could go wrong?
The potato in my hand disintegrated. Huh? A sonic boom of wind shot out from
my hand and blew away everything in the vicinity.
whoops?
WHAT DID YOU DO? Reika screamed at me after the chaos had settled down.

Im sorry, I kinda misjudged how much MP I used, I stammered while in a seiza

position. It was really hard to distinguish 10 MP from 1000 MP when you have so
much you know!?
Ugh, I think its better if you give up on learning how to cook, Reika said
exasperatedly.
Please, just give me one more chance! Ill do it right this time!
Sigh, fine. Ill let you boil the water then. You should be able to handle that much
at least, right? I nodded furiously. This was my chance to redeem myself.
I gathered some firewood and put some water into the pot. I started a small fire
underneath the pot and watched the pot of water.
it wasnt really boiling at all was it? Hmm, maybe I should up the flames a little?
I manipulated the flames to become stronger just a bit.
this is taking forever! I poured a little more mana into the flames, hoping to
heat it up faster. Suddenly.
BOOOOOOOM. The pot of water exploded. Good thing my endurance was super
high or someone might have gotten hurt! Of course I got punished hard by Reika
again.


After much difficulty, I had finally created my very first stew! Reika looked
exhausted.
Well, there may have been a few bumps along the way, but at least the stew
looks fine? she said with a resigned look on her face.
Im sorry for all the trouble I may have caused, but thank you so much for
teaching me! I bowed in apology yet again. Now, lets dig in! I filled our bowls
with the stew that I made. A rich and delicious smell rose from the bowls.
Itadakimasu! We both put a spoonful of the stew into our mouths. and
dropped our spoons. We faced each other, the color of our faces slowly turning
green. Reika fainted first.
Im sorry, Ill give up on cooking from now on.

Chapter 13: If You Had to Fight

The journey was full of fun and difficult times, but once again Ive reached this
place.

The Land of Demons. You could say this was the place where everything would
end, but for me it was the place where everything began.
Weve finally made it havent we, Reika said, with a solemn tone. Theres a
pretty menacing aura about this place. She shuddered.
Reika, thank you for traveling with me all this way. I really enjoyed the past
couple of weeks that I spent with you, but Im going to have to ask you to turn
back here, I said after hesitating for a moment.
Sigh, no can do! Ive committed myself to following through with you Haruna,
Reika smiled. Theres no way I would betray a friend of mine. Weve been
through thick and thin together, so lets finish this and head home together as
well.
Reika Hmm? Was I crying? No way, something was just in my eye.
Besides, if I werent around who knows what kind of ridiculous situation youd
get yourself into? she quipped.
That last part was unnecessary you know! I retorted back. We both broke out in
giggles.
Well then, lets end this.

Im sorry to have to break a touching scene like this, but Im afraid you two ladies
wont be going any further than this. A voice echoed from above them. I quickly
looked up and saw the shadows of three figures standing on a bluff above us.
Heh, stupid humans. If you think you have time for idle chitchat, why not take
some of this!?
Suddenly a massive stone boulder was flung at us. This was, Earth Magic!
Reika, dodge! I quickly warned her to step back as I drew my Iron Sword to take
on the boulder. I was able to knock it away with the flat of my blade, but the blade
also snapped from the pressure.
Who are you guys, come down and reveal yourselves! I shouted at them,
throwing away my broken sword.
Hoh? Seems like we cant take this one lightly. Very well! the three shadows
jumped down in front of us. They were a group of three Demon race men. The
one who seemed to be the leader of the group was tall and well-toned, with spiky
blue hair. The others were a big muscular one with dreads and a short childlike
one with bright yellow hair.
We are the Four Demon Generals, appointed by the Demon King to protect this
land, the blue haired leader said.

T-The Demon Generals? Reika paled in fear. Ive heard about them! After the
Demon Lord theyre supposed to be the four strongest demons!
Hoh hoh? It seems like our renown is spread even in the Human Country.
Nothing makes us four prouder than serving the Demon King with our lives.
I know the timing was probably not right for this. It was a really really bad time
to make a retort. But I just had to.
Uhhh, sorry to rain in on your parade like this, but there are only three of you,
you know? I had no choice but to make a retort here.
Kuh. So she noticed. It was fairly obvious you know!? The fourth General is in
the castle. Because of this idiot Juumonji here, she refused to come with us.
Wait, I havent given my introduction yet! the big guy in dreads who was
apparently named Juumonji complained.
Ah, thats right, continuing on with our introductions, Im Ariel of Frosted Bla-
Idiots. These guys were idiots. It felt like I was watching a bad comedy show. I
couldnt stand it anymore!
Light Magic: Holy Ray. I shot out a blast of the lowest level light magic at the
idiotic trio. I made the ray of light big enough to hit all three of them and send

them flying.
We havent even introduced ourselves yeeeeeetttt.. they screamed as they flew
off into the distance.
Ugh, that was annoying. Shall we go Reika? I said, proceeding to walk toward
the castle once more.
Ahaha, ahahaha. When Im with you Haruna I feel like nothing makes sense
anymore, Reika had a tired look on her face as she followed behind.

Chapter 14: If You Entered the

Demon Lords Castle, What
Would You Do?
Last one in is a rotten egg!
H-Hey wait, thats not fair! Your speed is much faster than mine!!!
In a running dash that left behind a small gust of wind, I dashed to the doors of
the castle and kicked the doors in. The heavy ornate iron doors smashed in and
flew to the other side of the entrance hall, creating a resounding crash as it hit the
wall.

Hello? Is the Demon Lord home? I called out.

Haruna, you idiot! What are you going to do if the Demon Lord notices were
here? Reika shouted at me as soon as she caught up to me.
Hmm? Dont we want him to notice? Were here to defeat him after all, I said as
a matter of fact.
Thats true but sigh, all my dreams of heroes fighting the Demon Lord are
going to ruins, Reika had a tired expression on her face again. Im sorry! I
apologized in my head.
After she had caught her breath, we started traveling down the various corridors
that lead to the Demon Lords chamber. The first time I came to the Demon
Lords castle, it was full of traps and monsters that I had to be wary about. But
because I knew where all the traps were this time, combined with my ridiculous
endurance, well
Ah, dont step there, thatll make spikes come out of the ground, I casually said
to Reika while walking nimbly down the corridor. I remember our scout almost
getting impaled, though he was able to dodge it in the nick of time.
E-Eeeek! she screamed as she jumped backwards. Thunk. She stepped on a
panel that suddenly sunk in.

Oh that one was, hmm, lets see. Oh yeah, the rolling stone! I said, as a rumbling
sound began to approach from ahead of us!
DONT SAY THAT SO MATTER OF FACTLY AND DO SOMETHING
ABOUT IT PLEASE! Reika shouted, about to break down.
I took a stance in front of the oncoming boulder, and punched it as hard as I
could. The boulder was smashed into tiny fragments.
Whew, good thing that worked! I dont know what I would have done if that
hadnt done the job, I let out a sigh of relief.
Reika slid down onto the ground. Sometimes Haruna, I wonder if youre really a
girl. Im not though, Im sorry! Well, I dont think my former male self could
have done anything like this though.
Without much difficulty other than the damage to Reikas sanity, we finally made
it to the doors that led to the chamber of the Demon Lord. Ominous black gates
stood in front of us, exactly as I remembered them. Sudden memories flashed
through my mind and I could feel sweat run down my back. The blood and
bodies of my comrades.
Reika, I
I know what youre going to say, but Im coming with you and thats final. I cant

leave my friend to do this alone, no matter how ridiculous she is, Reika said
gently.
Reika thank you, I said with my most sincere feelings. Well then, lets go.
Together. I still had some uncertainties and guilt, but somehow I felt that with
Reika, everything would go alright. I would protect her with my very life.
I pushed open the doors to chamber. This time, I would truly put an end to
everything. When I stepped into the chamber, I saw the very familiar scene of the
Demon Lord seated on his throne. I could feel hatred boiling up inside me as I
remembered what he did to my comrades, but I tried to suppress it as best as I
could.
Hmm? I was expecting the heros party, but its just two young girls? Though, I
dont think just is the right word to describe you, considering how far youve
made it, the Demon Lord suddenly spoke. He was still a good looking guy, with a
regal, robust look. His dark hair and dark red eyes suited his title as the Demon
Lord.
Weve come to prevent the invasion on the Royal State and put an end to your
reign of evil! Reika declared.
Invasion? I dont know of any invasion, but Im afraid your efforts are futile.
Your journey will end here, the Demon Lord said as he got up from his seat and

drew his Demonic Sword Darkness Edge.

Reika, stand behind me at all times, I whispered to Reika. She nodded and took
a ready stance behind me. I myself drew out the two legendary swords, Holy
Sword Gram and Demonic Sword Darkness Edge.
That sword is..!? The Holy Sword Gram!? How!? It should still be sealed in the
Cave of the Trial of Heroes! Reika gasped with shock.
Impossible. How can there be another Darkness Edge? It should be a one of a
kind item! How did a girl like you get your hands on that? the Demon Lord
suddenly had a dark expression on his face.
Well, unfortunately I dont we really have time for me to explain, I said with a
sheepish laugh before pulling together my concentration. The other two
recovered from their shock after a moment and prepared for battle once again.
Well then, shall we fight the Demon Lord?

Chapter 15: If the Worst Thing

Happened While Fighting the
Demon Lord, What Would You
Do?

S-Strong
WEAK! I looked down in pity at the beaten up Demon Lord in front of me. Five
minutes had passed since the battle had started, and the Demon Lord was already
on his knees! I know Id been given cheat like stats in this second time around,
but wasnt this too much? I even had to store my legendary weapons and use my
fists because of the difference in strength! The last boss went down with a single
punch!
Kuh, as expected of someone whos made it this far in just a simple party of two.
But I cannot give up here, I must fulfill my duty as the King of the Demons, the
Demon Lord grunted as he struggled to get back on his feet.
This was completely making me seem like the bad guy! The Demon Lord was
giving his best! I somehow found tears filling the field of my vision.
Just give up and call off the invasion. You should see that theres no hope for you
of ever defeating me. I said it! I said the stereotypical antagonists lines! I was
completely the bad guy here!
H-Haruna. Even Reika seemed to be at a loss for words in this situation!
I dropped my fists and turned my back on the Demon Lord. I couldnt bear to
watch this any longer! I was really going to break out in tears, you know!

How dare you turn your back on your enemy during the middle of a battle! the
Demon Lord shouted with rage and shot a blast of Darkness Magic at my back.
You idiot! I shouted as I turned and punched the ball of purple and black that was
heading straight for me. The ball was blown back, grazing the Demon Lords face
and destroying a portion of the wall behind him. The Demon Lord fell down, as
if he had finally accepted defeat.
AHHH! THIS DIDNT MAKE ME FEEL LIKE I WON AT ALL! Whatever, as
long as the invasion was successfully stopped, I had more or less achieved my
goal. Though I felt like I was forgetting something amidst all of this
disappointment.
Lets go Reika, I said, starting to walk towards the entrance when suddenly
Drip.
Hmm? Something warm was dripping down. I looked down and saw blood
dripping down onto the ground. No way! Was I injured somehow from that last
blast? I hadnt felt any pain from it though! I was suddenly assailed with massive
pain on the inside, as if my organs were being twisted by some strange force.
Guh! I said, my face contorted with pain, and collapsed on the ground.
H-Haruna! Reika quickly rushed to my side, her face pale. Thats pretty much all

shes been saying this entire battle. Sorry for worrying you so much Reika.
Kuh, y-you coward. What did you do? I growled towards the Demon Lord
while bending down, crippled in pain.
Eh? Ah, no, I didnt do anything the Demon Lord had an embarrassed look on
his face. He seemed at a loss for what to do. Rather, isnt it, that? What in the
world was he talking about?
Haruna, were you not keeping track? And even more importantly, why arent
you wearing a pad? Reika was washing away the blood with Water Magic. I was
worried when it didnt come for the past few weeks while we were traveling, but
to think itd come at the worst possible time! Hmm? Keep track of what? A pad?
Whats a pad?
W-What are you guys talking about? I said, my breathing getting faint. God,
why did this hurt so much? I could barely think straight. All of a sudden, a
beautiful young girl came bursting in through the entrance of the chamber.
Papa! Sorry Im late! Are you okay!? the girl shouted with a worried look on her
face. Papa? Was she the Demon Lords daughter? She did look remarkably similar
to the Demon Lord with beautiful raven black hair tied into twintails and ruby
red eyes. I heard some loud nois. huh? She suddenly stopped as she looked
around. She looked confused for a second but when her eyes rested on my

hunched figure, she stared for a moment before anger suddenly filled her pretty
face.
PAPA, YOURE THE WORST! HOW COULD YOU ATTACK A GIRL ON

Haruna, are you okay? Reika asked worriedly as she wiped off my sweat with a
cold towel. Reika and the Demon Lords daughter had helped me lie down in her
bed, and I was currently resting there.
Mhmm, Im fine. It hurts a lot less than it did at first, I said with a forced smile.
Geez, I cant believe you Papa. How could you fight a girl whos suffering like
this? the Demon Lords daughter lectured the Demon Lord who was sitting in a
seiza position on the ground.

But I The Demon Lord looked really pitiful right now! I was feeling really
sorry for him! The Demon Lords daughter turned her back on him, and he sank
down dejectedly.
Anyway, sorry for my fathers behavior. My name is Ayesha, the Princess of the
Demon Country. Incidentally Im also one of the Four Generals, Ayesha of
Blazing Flames, she introduced herself while bowing down in apology. This was
really surreal you know! I was resting in the Demon Princesss bed and she was
bowing down in apology to us!
Ah, its no big deal. Rather, I think its my fault this all happened, I returned the
apology as well. As a proper Japanese person (did I still count as Japanese?) there
was no way I couldnt return one in this kind of situation! My name is Haruna,
and this here is my friend Reika. We actually came to uh, defeat the Demon Lord
and stop the imminent invasion on the Royal State. Why was I explaining this to
the very people we had come to defeat!?
Invasion? Papa, were you planning anything like that? Ayesha turned back to
glare at the Demon Lord. He shook his head furiously.
Uhh, theyve been saying stuff like us invading them, but there were no plans for
anything like that? Hmm? Rather, they were the ones who invaded our country
and home, and thus I had to defend this castle from them? HMMM?

Please wait a minute! But are you not the Demon Lord, who has brought a reign
of terror upon this world with your evil ways? Reika suddenly voiced a question.
Its true that Im the Demon Lord, but thats just a title you know? Im officially
the King of the Demon Race, and this is the Demon Country where the Demon
Race reside, the Demon Lord began explaining. In the first place, it was humans
that decided to invade the Demon Country and we sent armies in self-defense. It
got pretty troublesome when they started sending Heroes with strange powers
over, and theres been political conflict between the Demons and Humans ever
since then. However, ever since I took up the throne as King a few decades ago, I
forbade the demons from instigating any conflicts with the humans. There
shouldnt be anything like an invasion going on.
Reika and I sat dumbfounded. The truth finally reveals itself? Was the Demon
Lord simply an antagonist created by the Human Race in order to militarize and
invade? This definitely was not a strange occurrence, especially in the world I
came from, but Reika looked devastated.
H-How can that be? How could our ancestors have lied to us for all these
generations? she stammered.
Unfortunately these kinds of things are common. In fact they probably forgot
the reason they were fighting the Demon Lord many generations ago, I said with
a sigh. At the very least weve found out there is no invasion. Well, our reasons

for defeating the Demon Lord have vanished into thin air then! Reika looked a
bit unsatisfied, but did not say anything.
Hmmm youre accepting this fairly easily. Most people tend to not believe us
when we tell them this, Ayesha said, slightly impressed.
Well, it doesnt seem like youre lying. I mean, if you really were evil, you
wouldnt have helped me like this, I shot a smile. Plus I think itd be better if we
could all get along! Humans and Demons. It wouldnt be good to keep this
conflict stagnating forever! I stuck out my hand.
Hmm, I like that attitude of yours. Lets get along then Haruna! Ayesha grinned
and shook my hand with vigor.

Chapter 17: If You Had to

Impersonate the Demon Lord,
What Would You Do?
A couple of days had passed, and the Demon Lord had been kind enough to give
us our own rooms and feed us a grand meal. I apologized to him over and over
for destroying his home and injuring him, but he forgave me and said that
misunderstandings couldnt be helped. Seriously, he was such a nice guy!
Reika had holed herself up in her room, and though I was worried, it seemed like

giving her time to let everything sink in was the best course of action. I spent
much of my time in the castle with Ayesha, who would show me around the
castle and the surrounding area.
This is miasma generator that emits a miasma of fear. Thats why the area
around this castle has this sort of presence. We use it to minimize the number of
people who try to invade as people who are too weak will get affected by the
miasma.
Hmm, you guys have this really well thought out, I said, impressed.
Well, these systems have been protecting the castle for generations you know.
Weve got to improve the methods we use as the challengers get stronger,
Ayesha replied.
By the way Ayesha is so pretty! She was wearing a gothic loli type dress that
suited her dark hair and red eyes perfectly. As expected of the Demon Princess!
T-Thanks. But Haruna, youre not bad looking yourself! Ayesha said,
embarrassed. I know! Want to try on some of my dresses?
I know I was wearing a dress right now, but I dont know about wearing
something as showy as that. As a man (former). Besides, there was another
problem. I stared at the chest area of her dress.

Hmm? Oh, Im sorry! I didnt think about that she said sheepishly. I think
yours look fine though
Just as we were having this kind of exchange, the Demon Lord suddenly rushed
by us, seeming perturbed by something.
Papa, is there anything wrong? Ayesha asked as he didnt seem to notice us as he
passed by.
Ah, Ayesha? Mmm, a problem has come up. It seems that the Hero Party has
come.
Eh? The Hero Party? I was confused for a second but then I remembered what
Reika had said about the hero candidates living in the Royal Palace. I guess one of
those candidates must have been officially named the Hero and a Hero Party was
formed to subjugate the Demon Lord. What was the name of the most favored
hero candidate again? Shi. something. Sorry, I forgot.
Hmm, this is a problem, I havent fully recovered from my injures in the last
battle. Aaaah, no, Im not really blaming you or anything, the Demon Lord
shook his hands in repeal when I started bowing down in apology again. Well,
Ill have to do it anyway. As the king of the Demons, its my duty to protect this
country.
Papa, you cant! Its too dangerous. Ill go in your stead, Ayesha protested.

No! While I am proud of your strength, the Heros Party is too much for you to
handle. Ill never forgive myself if you get injured in battle, the Demon Lord said
firmly.
But, I cant just let you die either!
Uhhhhm, Im sorry to interrupt your father daughter argument, but, I could go?
I said, volunteering.
"Eh?" The two of them stared blankly at me.

I sat on the throne of the ruined chamber, waiting for the Hero Party to arrive.
Youll have to fight other humans you know! And theyll be seriously coming
after your life! Ayesha had tried to persuade me from doing this.
Hmmm, I think itll be fine. Its not like I have any particular favor or resentment
towards them. I think I can handle their attacks the best after all, I reasoned
calmly.
Indeed, this girls powers far exceed my own, the Demon Lord agreed. But are
you willing to take the life of another Human?

Hmmm, nope! I think Im done taking lives, Human or Demon, I said without a
moments hesitation. Im going to stop them in my own way.
At this Ayesha smiled. You know, when I listen to you, for some reason it feels
like you could actually do it. Okay, Im still reluctant, but were out of options
here. Please, be safe.
Ayesha and the Demon Lord were such good people. I even felt sorry for killing
him the previous time around (teehee).
Demon Lord, show yourself! I am the Hero Shion, and we, the Hero Party, have
come to vanquish you and rescue the princess! Just as I was lost in my thoughts,
the Hero Party suddenly entered the chamber, announcing their arrival. Hmm?
Did he say something about a princess?
Aaaah, welcome and uh, grats for making it this far, Hero ShiShi
Shisomething.

Ah, yeah, whatever. Anyway, turn back now. The Demon Lord is already gone.
Ive defeated him in your place.
Impossible. How could a girl have defeated the Demon Lord? And what of the
princess?

I have no idea who this princess you keep talking about is. They couldnt be
speaking about Ayesha could they? She was the only princess I knew.
Lies! Now I know something is suspicious. The princess disappeared from the
palace a few weeks ago. I was appointed as the hero and tasked with defeating the
Demon Lord and finding her! Shion said, as he drew his sword. Ooooh, Holy
Sword Gram. He truly was a bonafide hero. I drew the Demonic Sword
Darkness Edge from my inventory.
Look here, this is the Demon Lords sword as proof that I defeated him. There is
no princess here. Leave and never come back, I said, brandishing the demonic
sword.
Just who are you girl? Theres no way youre a normal girl! the Hero shouted as
he warily pointed his blade at me. Well he was right you know? I wasnt normal. I
was a hero from another world with broken stats. And I wasnt a girl either. Im a
man (former).
Dont be silly, Im just your average village town girl! I said with a smile.
Bullcrap. I feel like I heard Ayesha and the Demon Lord say that from
somewhere, but I just misheard things, right?
Anyway, turn back now, or Im afraid Im going to have to use force, I said,
readying a stance with my sword. The Hero Party also prepared for battle. Looks

like this was unavoidable. Just as the clash was about to begin
Please wait! a voice called out from the inner chamber. We all turned towards
the voice.
Reika! Reisha-sama! Hmmm? I feel like the hero shouted something different.
This was the first time Id seen Reika in a couple of days. I had been worried
about her, so I was glad to see she had finally come out. though the timing
couldnt have been worse.
Reika, I missed you! Reisha-sama, youre alright! Hmm? The heros words and
mine seemed to be conflicting here.
Reika was panting as she tried to catch her breath. Please, cease this meaningless
conflict! Why must we all continue to fight these pointless battles? She looked
like she was on the verge of tears.
Meaningless? But Reisha-sama, the Demon Lord surely must have conspired to
kidnap you in order to throw our country into turmoil! The Demons are clearly
wicked and evil! the hero reasoned.
Reika shook her head, tears falling from her eyes. I left of my own volition.
Though I initially shared the same belief as yours, this journey has opened my
eyes to the truth. There is no Demon Lord of which you speak! Only a just king

defending his country and his people. Is that not what we Humans have been
doing all along? Why can we not put aside our differences and join our hands
together?
T-This is madness your Highness! Surely you must have been brainwashed by
the minions of evil! Fear not, for I shall defeat the Demon Lord and free you from
his clutches! the Hero proclaimed. At this Reika collapsed on the floor, sobbing.
At this point I could no longer hold back my anger. The veins in my temple were
throbbing as if they were about to burst.
Youuuuu. IDIOTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!! I screamed at the top of my lungs.
CANT YOU SEE THAT REIKA ONLY WANTS PEACE? WHATS WITH
THIS STUPID SELFISHNESS OF YOURS? Aaah, I was pissed. But probably the
reason I was pissed was because the last time around, that ignorant fool had been
me. Wasnt it pretty much me then, who was making Reika cry?
Heroes. Demon Lord. Humans. Demons. Did any of it even matter? Im sure that
if we could cast aside these distinctions, we could harmoniously join hands
together, just as Reika wished. The friendship between Ayesha and me was proof
of this. The friendship between Reika and me helped me to realize this.
I wont forgive. anyone. WHO MAKES MY FRIENDS CRY! I shouted,
launching myself towards the Hero Party in a blink of an eye.

Huh? The hero and his party didnt even have time to react. In an instant all
their armor, clothing, and underwear disintegrated. In the blink of an eye I had
brushed against all of their clothing with my fists. There was no point in using
violence to solve this problem. That wasnt the world my friend Reika desired.
WHAAAAT? The girls in the Hero Party screamed and covered themselves.
The men scrambled to hide their private parts. They all ran out the door all
helter-skelter.
I-I wont forget this!!! the Hero shouted the lines of a defeated underling as he
retreated with his party.
Haruna Reika said, staring at me in awe.
Hehe, Im starving, shall we go get something to eat? I grinned at her. Oh yeah
and, welcome back Reika.
AhIm back! Though her eyes were red from crying, she showed me a
beaming smile.

Chapter 18: If Your Friend Was

the Princess , What Would You
Do?

EHHHHH? THE PRINCESS OF THE ROYAL STATE? I said coughing, as I spit

out the water I just drank.
Rather, how did you not notice after what just happened? Reika sighed. My full
name is Reisha Brightsword, the legitimate heir to the throne in the Royal State.
She looked a little embarrassed while saying this. I was quite surprised when you
didnt recognize me when we first met. Just where were you living before?
Ahaha, I laughed sheepishly. I was a person from another world so there was no
way I could have known the princess before. And during my first time she was
unfortunately slain in the invasion before I even had a chance to see her face.
So uhhm, am I supposed to call you Reisha-sama now or something? I said,
scratching my cheek. Reika suddenly recoiled in disgust.
Ugh, it gives me chills when I hear you say Reisha-sama for some reason. Reika
is fine though. Im more used to you calling me that anyway, Reika said sighing.
Ehehe, thats good. I dont think I could have gotten used to calling you Reishasama.
Still, the look on their faces when you stripped them of all their clothes.
Priceless! Ayesha said, giggling. Apparently she and the Demon King had been
watching the series of events.

Mmm, I dont think I cleared up any misunderstandings by doing that though.

But I felt that just beating them up with brute strength wasnt the answer either,
I said with a troubled expression.
Its fine. I dont think the misunderstanding could have been cleared that easily
anyway. Its okay to take small steps in solving the problem. The hatred between
the two races wont disappear so quickly, but little by little I think we can show
them that it isnt impossible, Ayesha smiled gently.
T-Thank you Haruna, for everything you said, Reika said, blushing a little.
When I return to my country I will immediately start convincing Father to clear
the misunderstandings between the two countries. I doubt that itll be easy, but
this is something that we must accomplish.
Uuuu. I REALLY AM FRIENDS WITH TWO BONAFIDE PRINCESSES
ARENT I! I suddenly shouted in excitement. The two of them looked surprised
and stared at me strangely.
Sigh, its useless trying to have a serious moment when this fellow is around,
Ayesha said, putting a finger to her forehead.
Sigh, youve got that right, Reika said, shaking her head.
Ehehe. But I swear to protect and follow you two in your endeavors! This is the
least I can do for you as your friend! The three of us smiled at each other, then

broke out in laughter.

Surely Id been placed in this world a second time with this kind of status for this
situation to have happened. If Id been reset simply as the hero once again, the
tragedy would have repeated itself, countless times.
This time Ill set things right. Ill protect these two precious friends of mine, no
matter what the cost.
Though, I have to wonder. Why did the invasion happen in the first place?

Chapter 18.5: If You Were

Falling for Your Friend, What
Would You Do?
Part 1

Haruna. Whenever I looked at her face I would feel a twinge of emotion in my

heart.
This couldnt be, right? I mean, she was my best friend. And also a girl!
But the words she said earlier today. The way she had gotten angry for my sake.
Whenever I remember that, my face gets hot. To think the normally carefree

Haruna would show that much anger on my behalf.

Whatever feelings were starting to emerge from me, I knew that I would always
treasure Haruna. Weve only known each other for a few weeks, but I feel like Ive
known her my entire life. Her kind and friendly demeanor is just hard to hate
after all.
Ive decided to be with Haruna through thick and thin. Id even give up my own
life to protect her. She was my precious friend.

Part 2
Different. This person was different!
Every person Id met had been caught up in their own selfishness. Trying to
defeat the demons and Papa for valor, riches, and glory.
But to think, that she would be the first to reach out her hand to me in
friendship. Not a hand that would cut me down or smite me to ashes, but a kind
and strong hand that vowed to protect.
She had no obligations to help us. We were the enemy of the Human Race after
all. However, as soon as she learned about the misunderstanding between the two
races, she was the one to accept it all immediately.

Though she possessed the strength to bring Papa to his knees in one blow, she
didnt use her strength to destroy the ones who made her angry.
Different. Haruna was so different from any other person Ive met before! I could
feel something in my heart kindling. Something Ive never felt before. Haruna
was the first to have made me feel this way.
I will surely protect Haruna and our friendship together with my life. After all,
were living proof that Humans and Demons can get along!

Interlude
Just what was that girl? Her movements were so fast I couldnt even comprehend
when she moved! A bulky man that was part of the Hero Party exclaimed. The
Hero Party had retreated to the forest just beyond the Land of Demons. They had
managed to get a set of spare clothing from their inventory.
T-To think that Reisha-sama had joined hands with the Demons. What will we
tell the King and Queen? the healer of the party, a young woman in her midtwenties said worriedly.
Shion-sama, are you alright? another female member of the party was attending
to the Hero, who was sitting on a rock with his face downcast.
H-How can this be? How can I as the Hero have lost to a girl like her? he was

mumbling something like this repeatedly.

Hehehe, do you desire power? A voice suddenly filled the mind of the Hero.
W-Whos there!? the Hero looked around, trying to pinpoint the source of the
voice.
Lets not worry about who I am. But you want power, yes? To rescue that princess whom
you cherish so much.
T-Thats right! But Im unsure of my actions now. What if what Reisha-sama
was saying was truly correct? That this fighting is all meaningless?
How can you be sure she wasnt being brainwashed by the Demon Lord? Accept me, and I
will show you the truth.
The Hero felt his mind being enveloped in a black haze. Something like a red mist
was starting to cloud his vision. In front of him he could see his party members
gathering around him worriedly, calling his name.
He reached forward. impaling the stomach of the healer with his bare hand. She
had a look of shock on her face, and the other party members stood
dumbfounded. He pulled his hand out and looked at the blood dripping down
from it. The girl collapsed onto the ground.

The others seemed to be saying something, but he could no longer hear them.
One drew his sword and charged towards the hero. The hero stuck his hand out,
and suddenly a raging black beam of energy burst forth. When the energy had
finished dispersing, nothing stood in front of him. The trees, the rocks, the
ground, the party members. Everything had been blown away.
Kukukukuku. AHAHAHA.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Something inside him laughed, and he had no choice but to follow along and
laugh along maniacally. Tears streamed forth from his eyes, but he no longer had
control over his own body.
Then the being who was no longer the Hero turned his eyes beyond the forest.
Towards the Royal State. He grinned and suddenly his shadow expanded, hideous
forms beginning to rise up from his shadow.
Everything was just beginning.

Chapter 19: If You Had to Stop an

Invasion, What Would You Do?
Part 1

It had started out a peaceful a day as ever. Reika and I were packing up to prepare
to leave for the Royal State.
Couldnt you stay longer? Ayesha said with a pout.
Im sorry, but I really must get back. I must be worrying Mother and Father so
much, and I need to get plans started on reconciliation with the Demon Race,
Reika smiled regretfully.
Dont worry, well be back before you know it! I said, holding the hands of both
Reika and Ayesha.
Have you prepared everything you need? the Demon King came to check in on
us. Your rides have been prepared and are waiting outside. The Demon King
had kindly helped with our preparations and even gave us wyverns to travel on.
Apparently they could fly fast enough for us to get back to the Royal State in just
a day or two! I really wish we had these on our way here.
Thank you so much for everything youve done for us, I bowed down gratefully.
Again, Im so sorry for my ignorance and having injured you before.
Like I said, its fine, the Demon King said, waiving his hands. Im just glad that
youve become friends with Ayesha. With the burden of being the Princess of the
Demon Race and one of the Four Generals, she hasnt been able to make very
many friends. I beg of you, please continue to be her friends.

You dont even have to ask! Of course we will! I grinned. He smiled gently back.
After we had finished packing, he guided us outside where the wyverns were
waiting. Seriously, they were basically mini-dragons right? So cool! After
securing all our luggage on the wyverns, Reika and I turned back to Ayesha.
Itll be lonely without you two, she said, sniffling. Try to hurry and come back
soon!
"You got it!" the two of us chimed in unison.
Your majesty! Theres trouble in the Human Country! one of the retainers of
the Demon King suddenly ran up. My familiar was scanning the area when it
detected a massive army of monsters on its way to the Royal State of the Human
Country!
"""WHAT?"""
Who in the world is leading such an outrageous parade? Didnt I explicitly state
not to cause conflict with the Humans? the Demon King demanded angrily.
Thats I tried to scan for who was leading this brigade, and it turns out its the
Hero! the retainer reported nervously.
What? What is that idiot up to now??? I shouted.

How far away was the army from the Royal State? Reika quickly asked.
About a days march. Theyve been going strong without any rest!
Reika paled when she heard this. Theres no way we can make it on time She
collapsed on the ground.
Dont give up! Ayesha suddenly exclaimed. You guys have made it this far
right? We have a dream to have the Demons and Humans join hands right? Who
knows what effect this attack will have on the Humans!? For all they know this is
an invasion from the Demon Country!
Invasion. The word struck deeply in my mind. Was this what had happened last
time? Some third party had spurred the fires of conflict, causing me to embark on
a quest to slay the Demon King. I grit my teeth.
Haruna! Lets go. We cant let this tragedy play itself out, or nothing will have
changed! Were going to stop that idiot, I declared firmly. Ayesha, Im sorry we
have to cut our farewell short, but we have to get going! She nodded furiously.
GET GOING YOU TWO! she shouted. Reika and I hopped onto our wyverns,
digging our heels into them. They gave a loud roar and immediately took off into
the skies.
BE SAFE YOU Twoooooo we heard Ayesha call out as the wyverns soared

up.
H-How do you pilot this thing!!!!???? I screamed as the wyverns picked up
speed. But I had no intention of slowing down. Seems like Reika was thinking the
same. I put on a look of determination and looked towards the direction we were
heading.
We were going to stop this invasion!

Part 2
Your Majesty! The army of monsters will hit us any moment now! You must
evacuate!
No. I must stay and lead the armies for my foolishness. That girl had warned us
such an event would come, but I foolishly ignored her words. This is the price I
must pay for that, the King of the Royal State said solemnly.
The army of the Royal State had been in a state of mobilization since yesterday.
The hero candidates had been appointed squads of their own and were leading
the army in the defense against the Demons.
The King burrowed his brow into this hands. Just where was Reisha during all of
this? The Hero had not yet returned from his journey. He could only pray that his
daughter was safe and that the Hero would bring her back.

Sir! The monsters, theyve arrived!

The Kings eyes widened in shock, but he breathed deeply as he regained his
composure. He had no time to think about that for now. He had to defend his
country.
COMMAND THE ARMY TO MOBILIZE AND ATTACK. RECRUIT THE
ADVENTURERS WHO WISH TO HELP AS WELL.
The King gripped his fist tightly. The attack had begun!

Part 3
Flames. Flames everywhere.
Crying. Screaming. And despair.
The citizens of the Royal State had been in the midsts of evacuating, but they had
not been able to finish before the monsters were upon them.
Destruction. Death. And pain.
The monsters were wreaking havoc as they traveled through the city. Some of
them were spewing flames, burning the very city to the ground.
The people of the town raised their prayers to the heavens, imploring their

goddess to save them.

Thats when they saw a distant shooting star streaking across the sky. They put
their wishes. Their cries. And their hopes. All in that brightly shining, little star
traveling across the sky.
The star that would be their salvation.

Chapter 20: If You Were the

Lynchpin of the World, What
Would You Do?
Part 1

I can see the Royal State! I shouted back at Reika.

The sky was pink and orange however, with smoke that could be seen rising up
into the darkening sky.
Oh no, were we too late? Reika, said apprehensively.
Tch, the invasion has already started! I bit my lips. There was no way to judge
how far the invasion had progressed from here. It might be too late by the time
we landed with our wyverns. Reika, can you take care of the wyverns and
landing yourself? Im going first!

Wait wh HARUNA! she shouted after me as I jumped off my wyvern. I cast a

Lv. 10 Light Magic Spell: Saintly Barrier of Resplendent Light (this chuuni
naming scheme though), and braced myself for impact. This was a high level
magic spell that would absorb 80% of the damage inflicted on me for the next 30
minutes. The barrier gave off a bright shine as it shielded me from the force of
the fall.
HARUNA YOU IDIOOOOOTTT!! I heard Reika scream as I began to descend
into the chaos below.
I felt like Reika would punish me again for doing something so reckless, but there
was no time to worry about something like that right now! Though I didnt know
how much damage this fall would inflict upon me, hopefully my endurance and
HP would be enough to survive this!

Part 2
Kukuku, the invasion is proceeding smoothly. With this the Royal State will
have no choice but to launch a full-force attack on the Demon Country after this.
The being who was inside the Hero giggled as he watched the chaos in the city
below. His shadow monsters were going around wreaking havoc, inciting panic
and fear.
Please! Stop! No more. Dont use my body to commit more atrocious crimes! The Hero

cried from within.

Unfortunately you dont have a say in this. I am the controller of this body now!
the being proclaimed with glee. With this much chaos and fear spreading, very
soon he would be restored to his former glory.
Hmm? He suddenly detected a massive magical source approaching the city from
above. He looked up and was for a second shocked at what he was seeing. A
comet? No, but something was falling to the city at an incredible rate. And it
possessed a crazy amount of magical power.
He watched it make an impact next to the city, where a flood of his shadow
monsters had been entering. The monsters were all blown away in an instant.
Just what was happening? Was this the workings of that pesky goddess that had

Part 3
Owowow, that shaved off at least 100,000 HP, even with the barrier! My entire
body creaked from the strain of the impact with the ground, but I guess nothing
seems broken. I looked around and saw that the impact had created a small crater,
with the monsters that had been standing here blown to bits. The survivors
growled and started to warily from a circle around me.

Uh oh, was Haruna-chan in a pinch? Of course not. When they all started to
charge at me, I lashed out in an arc with my legs, blowing away the monsters in
front of me. I jumped out of the way to avoid a monster that tried to crush me
with its giant claws and delivered a punch that caused to to fly back into the other
monsters. But the monsters just got back up and started to attack again.
Ugh, thered be no end like this. I formed magic in my hands and directed it
towards the ground. I would have to take them out all at once then. I didnt have
time to be stuck fighting mobs here. I cast Earth Magic: Earth Spikes, causing
thousands of spikes formed from rock to just out from the ground, impaling all
the monsters around me.
After confirming that all of them had been slain, I quickly headed towards the
Royal Palace. I could only pray that the king and queen were still safe, or
irreparable damage would be done. While blitzing down the streets, I quickly
dispatched any monster that stood in my way with one blow. I didnt have time to
slow down, but I had to at least to make sure to save the townspeople.
I crashed through the doors of the Royal Palace with full-force. Hmm? I had a bit
of deja-vu just now. Oh well.
Is the king alright!? I asked the guards who pointed their spears at me the
moment I entered.

Y-You, youre that girl! one of the guards suddenly exclaimed. He was one of the
guards who had carried me out of the palace. Come quickly, the king is being
protected in the Royal Chamber.
He guided me to the Royal Chamber where I had an audience with the king
before. The king was giving orders to various people within the chambers, using
a map of the Royal State to direct them. When he saw us approaching, his eyes
widened with shock.

Im sorry for being such an ignoramus before! Huh? The king was bowing his
head in apology. I should have listened to your warning before. Now its come to
this disaster.
I was embarrassed by the situation and waved my hands wildly. No, please, lift
your head! I understand that it was difficult for you to believe me then, but theres
something important I have to tell you! The truth is, this invasion was not
planned by the Demo
Suddenly a large crashing noise was heard as the side of the wall of the Royal
Chamber was busted in.

Hallo! Is the king in? a voice laced with madness cackled venomously.
W-Who are you!? the king trembled. All the guards were trembling in fear as
well. The figure emerging from the clearing dust was exuding an aura of
madness, almost suffocating. When the dust finally settled, everyone laid their
eyes on the grinning figure.
Its you! Hero uh Shi..something!
T-The Hero Shion!? Oh right. However, upon seeing the dark aura that was
covering him, I began to have second guesses.
Nothats wrong I said, not really sure where I was getting my conclusions.
Something just felt off about him.
Kukuku, not like it really matters at this point! Im pretty much the Hero Shion!
Though none of you can live to tell the tale. It would ruin my plans after all, the
Hero licked his lips.
Plans? What are your plans? I asked, stepping in front of the king.
Of course, to cause a great war between the Humans and Demons! I thrive off
chaos and hatred. Just imagining all the suffering that would come from such a
series of events gives me chills!

This guy was seriously bad news. I drew Gram and Darkness Edge from my
inventory and held them in both hands. Im afraid I cant let your plans come to
fruition. It would go against the wishes of my two dear friends after all.
You youre not just some normal human, are you? the Hero eyed me
suspiciously. That insane magical power residing inside you. Just what are you?
Im I suddenly kicked off from the ground. Just your average village girl and
the friend of two princesses! I thought I had caught him off guard with my
speed, but my swords clashed with his Holy Sword Gram that he had raised to
defend himself.
Whoa! You caught me by surprise! I was barely able to defend that you know!
Just how insane is your speed? He jumped back to create some distance between
us. However I wasnt going to let him get away. The instant I landed on the
ground, I kicked off again and gave chase.
Kuh, persistent little girl. How about a taste of this!? He raised his hand and cast
Darkness Magic: Barrage of Darkness. A stream of powerful balls of darkness
came flying at me. I punched one of the balls that was headed directly for me, but
the ball exploded on contact and I was blown back.
I quickly checked my stats to see how much damage that did. 1000 damage to my
HP!? This was probably the first time Id taken so much damage from a direct

attack ever since receiving these stats. This guy was strong.
Haha? Are you serious? Each one of those balls should have been able to kill
someone of the Demon Lords caliber. And it looks like it only scratched you?
What kind of a monster are you? the Hero scowled.
Like I said, Im just your average village girl, I smiled back.
Kuh, still persisting with that huh? Fine then, how about this!? the Hero
grinned as his shadow began to enlarge and spread. Dark clones of himself began
to rise up from the shadows, about seven in all. Lets see how numbers work on
you!
The dark figures charged at me, brandishing their swords. One slashed at me
with his sword, which I parried with Gram. However two more came from my
side. I swung Darkness Edge to try to fend them off, but I was only able to get
one of them. The other managed to avoid the blade and slash at me with his own.
Though I jumped back to avoid it, he managed to nick my shoulder.
This painful swordplay continued for a while. The shadows were slowly creating
cuts all over my body. I could only really parry off their blades as they came at me
relentlessly. The Hero was grinning and laughing gleefully as he watched. This
was really tough!
Haha, dance little girl, dance! Dance until you drop dead!

I guess Ill take up your offer on that! Watch my blade dance! I made a stance
with both my swords. The shadows had encircled me, and they all charged forth
with their blades. I made a wide sweeping cut with both blades, causing them to
stop and jump back. The instant I saw one jump back, I launched myself at it and
kicked it with all my strength. The shadow exploded into black nothingness.
The other shadows rushed towards me. I needed to become faster. I needed to
become stronger. I swung Gram, breaking through one of the shadows swords
and slicing the shadow in half. I deflected the blow of another with Darkness
Edge, and then stabbed it with Gram. Another one lunged at me with its
sword, but I jumped up and stabbed through it as I came down. The three
disappeared into nothingness.
The remaining three seemed to become more wary of me, and kept their
distance. I sheathed my swords and instead began to charge mana into my hands.
When the shadows saw this, they began to spread out in order to avoid the
attack. However, that wouldnt save them.
Lv 10 Fire Magic: Hellfire Inferno Wave! making a sweeping motion with my
hands, I created a wave of flames that traveled rapidly towards them. The instant
the flames touched them, they were incinerated into ashes.
Tch, so you were able to take care of them, the Hero spat. However, he
immediately started grinning soon after. But it looks like theyve done a fine job

of draining you considerably. How about I get a little serious now?

He stretched his hand out and cast a high level Darkness Magic: Death the End. A
grim reaper clad in dark robes and wielding a giant scythe emerged from the
magic circle.
Hahaha, this ultimate class Darkness Spell is able to instantly kill a single enem
y? He suddenly cut himself off as he saw what I was doing.
As he was finishing up his explanation, I stretched out my own hand, gathering
my mana. He probably was able to sense how much MP I was condensing because
his face grew pale as I gathered more and more MP into my hands.
N-No way, just how much MP do you have!? You know this is the Heros body
right? Youll kill him if you hit him with something of that caliber!
Dont worry, as long as I beat you within an inch of your life, the Hero wont
die! I said, gathering more and more MP.
Kuh, get her Death the End! the Hero said, as he turned to flee himself.
Like Ill let you get away! I shouted, and expelled all the mana I had been
charging up into one Light Magic: Holy Ray. The amount of MP I had put into
that one attack? 10,000,000. The ray hit the grim reaper, extinguishing it
instantly. The beam continued towards the Hero who was fleeing, and he was

engulfed in the blast.

A-AHHHHHHHHH, WHAT IS THIS? HOW COULD SUCH A LOW LEVEL
MAGIC HAVE SUCH POWER? he screamed in pain.
When the beam dispersed, the Hero fell to the floor, seemingly unconscious. The
air crackled with the magical discharge from the blast.
Whew, is it over? I starting walking over to the body of the Hero, hoping that
he was still alive. Suddenly a black haze began to ooze out from the Heros body,
forming a humanoid figure.
Kuh, you foolish girl! How dare you foil my plans like this? Dont think that this is over
just yet!
As the figure said this, dark bat-like wings emerged from it as it took off into the
sky. It raised its hand, amassing a dark ball of energy. The monsters that had been
attacking the town were turned back into shadows and sucked into the ball.
Even though I may not be completely restored to my full power yet, this should be more
than enough to wipe this city of the face of this planet!
Uh oh, that looks pretty bad! I said nervously. The amount of mana he was
gathering was pretty scary! If he fired that here, the king and everyone in the city
would get caught in the blast! I had to stop him before he could fire it.

Using Wind Magic: Gale Steps, I swiftly hopped across the sky as I made my way
towards him.
Hahaha, its too late you foolish girl. Repent for making me suffer!
He swung his hand down, launching the massive ball of energy. No! Was it too
late? However I had no choice but to try and stop it. Just what could I do though?
Wait, didnt this occasion call for a special move? I didnt really know what I
could do, but I had no choice but to believe in my messed up specs. It was the
only chance I had.
I gathered all the remaining mana I had, forming small colored balls around me.
There were seven total, each imbued with the color of its element. There was red
for fire, blue for water, green for wind, brown for earth, yellow for lightning,
white for light, and purple for darkness. The balls began to rotate around my
right fist, going faster and faster.
Oooooooooh, HARUNA-CHAN SPECIAL: SEVEN COLORS DELIVERANCE
PUNCH! I shouted something random. I was executing this move based off a
random image I had, and I prayed that it would work out as well as I thought it
would.
Fist crackling with magical power, I punched the giant ball of energy straight on.
There was a large crackling of energy as the two magic sources collided with one

another.
I-Impossible!"the dark figure gasped in surprise.
Im not done yeeeetttt!!!!! I shouted, as the seven orbs spun faster and faster. I
poured all my strength into my fist, driving the ball of energy back. As the magic
orbs reached their maximum velocity I shouted, EXPLODEEEEE!!!!
The orbs shone brightly as they emitted waves of their magical element. From my
fist a torrent of magic began cycling up, in a vortex of elements clashing and
mixing together.
W-WHAT THE HECK IS THAT? the dark figure screamed as the vortex swallowed
up the ball of energy and him, destroying everything in its path. To all the
onlookers on the ground, it looked as if a gigantic rainbow colored pillar of light
was rising up to the sky.
Exhausted, I fell to the ground, with a smile on my face. I was losing
consciousness mid-fall, so I called out my status window to make sure I could
survive the fall. Yep, seemed fine! After that, I blacked out.

Shooting Star Hero Haruna.
Thats apparently what the people were calling her, so thats what the Royal State
decided to name her as well. I couldnt stop giggling when I heard this.
But at that moment when she had jumped down from the wyvern, she truly did
seem like a shooting star. Even I had ended up putting my wishes and hopes in
her.
After I landed the wyverns, I quickly rushed to the Royal Palace in order to get a
better handle on what was going on. Just as I was about to reach the palace, I saw
a beautiful rainbow colored pillar of light erupt into the sky. For some reason the

light felt so warm, like the spring breeze.

Haruna ended up with a few broken bones in the battle. That idiot sure knows
how to overdo things. But with the combination of healing magic and her own
natural recovery powers, she was running all around the palace by the next day. I
really wish she could calm down sometimes.
After that we helped clear up the confusion about the whole situation.
Apparently the Hero had been possessed by some unknown presence. Father and
the guards had also witnessed the dark figure emerging from the Hero before
Haruna defeated it.
A week after the invasion, in the midsts of restoration, Father announced that he
would be stepping down from the throne. While everyone tried to convince him
otherwise, it seemed that he was resolute about the decision. He had been
contemplating this for a long time and the recent event had only made it clear
that new order was required in this country.
My coronation ceremony was held the next day, and I was instated as the new
Queen of the Human country. It turns out that Ayesha had also taken her fathers
place as Queen of the Demon country. Right now were working on creating
friendly relations between the two countries and drafting a formal treaty.
As for Haruna? It seems she left for somewhere. After finding out that the

procedures for making peace between the two countries would take a long time
with much paperwork and many meetings, she said that she couldnt sit around
anymore and said that she would contact me frequently. Whatever that rascal is
doing now, I hope she doesnt get into too much trouble.
Reisha-sama, a letter for you has arrived, one of my maids said, handing me an
unmarked letter. It only said to Reika on the front. I immediately knew who it
was from and excitedly opened the letter.
To Reika:
Hey! How have you been doing? Its been about a week since weve last seen
each other. I hope the peacemaking is going alright.
I know its sudden, but Ive decided to become an adventurer again! Ive
partied with some people I used to know. Theyre a bunch of really nice
people, especially the old baldie who cant leave anyone alone. Weve heard
rumors about a new dungeon that appeared in the area, called the Labyrinth
of Mysteries. I couldnt contain my excitement when I heard that! You may
not hear from me for a few more weeks, but know that if at any time you need
me, I will rush by your side.
Anyway, gotta go! Were preparing to leave for the dungeon tomorrow, so
gotta make sure we have everything we need. Goodbye and good luck with

My name is Bernard, a C-ranked adventurer based in the humble town of
Bastille. I have a beautiful wife and a young five year old daughter, and both of
them are the joy of my life. Though I used to run pretty wild back in the days, Ive
more or less settled down and am using my status as an adventurer to make a
living for my family.

I was in town buying supplies for my party as we recently decided to take up a

new job, when I saw someone getting hassled by two well-known ruffians around
these parts. I assumed the youth was not from these parts as Id never seen him
before and he was wearing some pretty strange clothes. But in any case, I couldnt
just let this guy fall victim to these buffoons.
Hey you two, leave that person alone! I walked up to them with a stern voice. I
dont really want to brag or anything but I was pretty well-known around these
parts. I knew that these two didnt have the guts to stand up to me so I used that
to my advantage.
Tch, the ruffians spat and left after glaring at me. The young guy seemed
completely overwhelmed, but he was thanking me furiously for saving him. This
guy seemed like a complete rookie, so I offered to show him the Adventurers
Guild.
It was my policy to help rookies like him at least get up on their feet before letting
them out in the wide world out there. It could get pretty dangerous if they were
careless after all. I would have nightmares if I learned that a rookie I had
neglected ended up dying somewhere. I had to be a bit pushy sometimes, even if
they didnt want my help.
Little did I know, my encounter with this boy would lead me to becoming part of
the Hero Party! (and subsequently dying a pretty gruesome death)

Side Story 2: If You Were a

Guard in the Royal Palace,
What Would You Do?
Sigh, another one of these crazies.
Every now and then some insane person would try to meet the king and inform
him of some disaster that would occur. This time it was some girl trying to warn
the king about a demon invasion in the near future. She was even claiming that
she was the hero! How preposterous.
Everyone knows that the Hero is a man chosen during a time of crisis. We have a
few hero candidates in training at the Royal Palace. The most promising of them
is the Hero Shion, who has already mastered a variety of magics and sword skills.
He really is the role model of all the guards in the army.
When he asked her if she had any proof, she seemed to think for a second before
hesitantly saying that she had no proof. See, all these crazies were the same.
When you put pressure on them to prove what they were saying, they all caved.
The king then ordered me to carry her out. She didnt resist at all and looked
pretty depressed. Well, thats what happens when you try to mess with the wrong
person.

As we left the Royal Chamber, I caught a wisp of purple hair disappearing down
the corner of the passageway. Was that Princess Reisha just now? Was she
listening to what this crazy girl was saying?
Princess Reisha didnt get to leave the castle very often, as the king forbade her
from leaving without good reason. She could be found roaming across various
corridors in the palace. Well, it seems that shes snuck into town a couple of times
without him knowing, but thats not something Im going to tattle about. I
believe she needs some moments to experience the outside world, considering
she practically has no friends.
Despite her friendly demeanor towards everyone she meets, she doesnt seem to
have very many friends. It seems that people put distance in between them
through their formalities, and in turn that made Princess Reisha distance herself
from them. I truly hope that one day Reisha-sama will be able to find someone
she can call friend, as her honest smile is the most beautiful in all this land.
Well, that was none of my business really, lets just throw this girl out and return
back to my post.

Side Story 3: If You Found Out

Your Map Was Useless, What
Would You Do?

Are you sure this is the correct place? I asked the navigator, who was scratching
his head. We were the Hero Party who had recently been entrusted with the task
of going on a quest to slay the Demon Lord and rescue Princess Reisha from his
evil clutches.
Thats strange, there shouldnt be a lake here? If the directions on this map are
correct, this should have been a forest, the navigator said, tracing the map with
his finger.
Well, clearly this isnt a forest. You must have made a mistake somewhere, the
gruff tank of the party Arnaldo said brusquely.
Look, Im telling you. Theres no lake anywhere near these parts. This is
completely abnormal! the navigator Veena growled, getting frustrated.
Now now, theres no point in arguing. Well just have to try to find out where
we are and go on from there, I said, trying to calm the two of them down. Well,
for now well set up camp here. The rest of the party started setting up camp and
pretty soon we had a nice fire going.
Veena and I sat down staring at the map, trying to ascertain our current position.
Hmm, this really is strange. There shouldnt be a lake around here, at least not
for another 1000 km, I said, staring at the map.

Theres no way we messed up and walked that far off course. All the other
landmarks were accurate, Veena said, pointing out the locations we had visited
previously. Certainly, it seemed as if we were going on the right path until now.
Do you think maybe, this lake is manmade? the healer of our party Aila asked.
No way, judging by the size of this lake, a person who would be able to create
something of this scale would have to be some kind of monster, Veena shook his
head. Theres no way someone had enough mana to gouge out the earth and fill
it with water to this extent.
Maybe it was a group of people? I suggested.
Hmmm, I guess it could be possible, but for what purpose? Veena questioned.
Perhaps it was done by the Demons, in order to throw us off, Arnaldo
suggested.
Perhaps, but this is quite the waste of energy if they were just trying to prevent
us from reaching the Demon Lord, I replied. All of us sat thinking about this
until nightfall.
The next day, we walked around the lake and discovered that the lake had been
placed there unnaturally after all, as Veena was able to find the next landmark
soon after we had passed the lake. Just who had created it and why?

Side Story 4: If You Were Being

Do?
Ayesha, be mine!
Haaa, not this again.
Juumonji just wont give it up will he?
Ariel and Raishin acted as onlookers as Juumonji proposed to me for the 100th
time. We four were known as the Four Generals sworn to protect the Demon
country under my father, the Demon King.
For the last time, Im not interested! I firmly rejected him again, burning the
flowers he held out.
Look, I think only someone strong is the only one who would be suitable for
you, and what better choice is there than me, one of the Four Generals?
Juumonji persisted.
It was true that someone strong would be more appealing, but I didnt want to go
out with a brute like Juumonji. Hmph! If youre going to talk about strength, its
going to have to be someone at least as strong and elegant as Papa!

Ayesha-sama, you know thats nearly impossible. The king is a genius of

unparalleled power. He was able to rise up to his position through merit alone.
Theres no demon in this country that could match up to his prowess, Ariel
interjected.
Aaah, is that so? Maybe Ill go off and marry some human then! I stuck my
tongue out.
A-Are you insane? Theres no way a wimpy human could be stronger than the
king! Juumonji laughed.
Humph, Id take one of those wimpy humans over you any day! I said, finally
annoyed enough with this conversation that I stormed back to the castle.
Hey wait! Where are you going!?
Dont follow me! I shouted back.
That idiot Juumonji. He just didnt know when to give up did he? It was really
starting to irritate me. Hed been constantly pestering me since we were both in
training camp.
But love huh. Its not like I havent thought about it before. But there just hasnt
been any man cool and strong enough to capture my heart! I know Juumonji
boasts about his strength and all, but Im fairly sure I could win hands down in a

fight, even with my elemental weakness.

I want to meet someone cool, strong, kind, and fun! Someone unlike anyone else
Ive met before. Someone who can make my heart throb with excitement! Those
idiots that only care about strength and loyalty dont really appeal to me. Sigh,
when will I meet my fated one!?

Side Story 5: If Your Wife Was

Angry, What Would You Do?
Currently I, the Demon King, was once again sitting in seiza. I was currently
sitting on the floor of the throne room while staring at the beautiful demon lady
that was my wife. And by demon I wasnt only talking about race.
Hmm, so I come home from a trip, only to see my home in shambles, my
husband wrapped in bandages, and the legendary relic missing. What do you
have to say for yourself? Lucina, my wife, said with a haughty expression as she
looked down at me while perched on the throne.
Well uh, the first two I can explain as for the last, I honestly have no idea how
that happened, I said, sweat starting to pour down my back.
A week after the invasion of the Royal State in the Human country was stopped,
my wife came back home from her vacation. Upon her return she froze at the

state of our home and immediately went to the Treasury to check on the state of
the items there. This castle was pretty old and was the home of several legendary
class items, as well as dangerous ones after all. Upon inspection, we discovered
that the Ring of Sealing had disappeared, which was the worst case scenario.
The Ring of Sealing was an item passed down from generation to generation of
kings, said to house the vengeful spirit of an Evil God. It was said that should the
Evil God ever escape the seal, the world would be plunged into chaos and
destruction.
So, you say this Haruna girl defeated you, trashed our home, and disappeared
after staying here for a couple of days? she questioned. He really did not like the
way things were heading.
Ah, yeah, thats true, but I dont think shed take something from the Treasury.
Shes Ayeshas friend after all. She wasnt anywhere near there and we do have
detection systems set up.
Hmmm, but you said shes much stronger than you right? Perhaps she had the
ability to disable the systems?
Ah, thats true but
It seems I need to pay this Haruna a visit~ she smiled darkly.

Side Story 6: If You Found a

You Do?
The names Juumonji. Juumonji of Trembling Earth. Im one of the Four
Generals that serve the king.
I was walking along the corridors of the castle, pondering on how I would
capture Ayeshas heart. Ever since I saw her amazing skills in the training camp
for demon youths, it was love at first sight. I trained and polished up my skills just
so I could walk beside her, and before I knew it I was one of the Four Generals
alongside her.
Since then Ive proposed to her numerous times, only to be flatly rejected. But I
wont give up. I just know shes the woman fated for me. Ill settle for no one else.
As I passed by the doors to the Treasury, I noticed a small shining object on the
ground. I picked up what appeared to be a incredibly ornate and well-designed
ring.
This! This was perfect! This was what I could use to make Ayesha mine once and
for all! She would fall heads over heels if I presented something as fancy as this

while proposing to her!

As I was exuberant over this discovery, Ariel suddenly rushed by.
Ah, Juumonji! So this is where you were. It seems like a couple of intruders have
entered the premises. We must go and prevent them from proceeding any
further!
I quickly pocketed the ring and regained my focus. Leave it to me. Ill make sure
that not a single one of them pesky humans gets by me!
I would crush those silly humans in no time at all, and go to present this ring to
my lovely Ayesha!

Side Story 7: If the Seal

Containing You Broke, What
Would You Do?
Finally. After thousands of years. I have finally been released from the accursed
seal that goddess placed me in.
It all happened pretty abruptly. Even I am not fully aware of how the seal came to
be undone. I awoke from my deep slumber and found myself in the woods, next
to the unconscious figures of three demons. I tried possessing each one of them

but their bodies were fairly broken and movement would impossible. I would
need to find another host.
I assumed some powerful being must have fought these three and in the resulting
fight, the being had hit them with a powerful source of energy, causing the seal
on the ring to be undone. The seal the goddess had used wasnt half-assed after
all. Only someone on the same level of strength as a deity could have broken that
seal.
But such trivial things didnt matter. What was important was that the seal had
finally been broken, and I could begin enacting my vengeance upon this land. I,
the Evil God Rizel, had awoken from my slumber and would incite terror and
chaos into the people of this world.
A few millennia ago, I had controlled this world with an iron gauntlet, and
became known as the first Demon Lord. Both humans and demons were enslaved
under me. But when the two pesky races joined hands and fought with the
blessings of the goddess, they were able to seal me in a small ring.
I know, the first thing I would do is cause a war to break out between the Demon
country and the Human country. That would create enough hatred in this world
to bring back my strength, as well as be the perfect place to start for my revenge.
Now, to find a suitable host to start enacting my plans

Afterword
Hello there! This is sort of awkward, as this is the first complete story that Ive
ever written. Ive been trying for the past four years, but somehow, I seemed to
get stuck in ruts for all of them, unsure of how to continue the flow of the story.
This story was different however.
It all started out when I discovered some of the very short stories I had written in
high school. They were honestly downright strange, but I they were stories I had
written for specific people and I loved seeing the reactions they made as they read
my stories.
I wanted to come back to this kind of writing style. So I asked one of my close
friends, what kind of story would you like to read? The answer I got was, a
story with a twist!
And so, this story was born. A story with a twist from the classic tale of a hero on
a quest to slay the Demon Lord. It flowed surprisingly easily. Ive never had such
an easy time writing the words I wanted to write before. This entire story was
crafted in pretty much a span of four days. I took a lot of inspiration from the
light novels and web novels I had recently read, as I highly enjoy this genre.
The story of a hero who is summoned from another world and embarks on a
journey to slay the Demon Lord. I thought to myself, how fun would it be if the

hero was given a chance to start over, except with insane stats? As I was playing
with this story, another idea hit me. What if I made the main character turn into
a girl? This would increase the absurdity and the hilarity of the story by
manyfold.
Anyway, though I was initially planning on this being a single volume, I fell in
love with the story and characters so much that Ive decided to write another
volume. Though I havent decided on a title yet, itll be about Haruna-chans
adventures in the Labyrinth of Mysteries! Well finally get to know Bernard and
the rest of the original Hero Party better! As well as new characters that Ive been
thinking would be a fun addition to the story. Get hyped for it!
Well, anyway, Im hoping to get illustrations in this before the final version, but
seeing as how my skills are vastly lacking, thats mostly just a pipe dream at the
moment. However I will be putting some effort into practice drawing once again,
so hopefully I can rise up to a standard I find acceptable.
Anyway, thank you so much for reading! I hope my friend enjoyed this story as
much as I did writing it, and I extend this hope to all of you readers who decided
to read this work. It may be chock full of flaws, but I hope youll be lenient on this
newbie writer. Keep your eyes peeled for more works from me in the future!
