‘Dear Parent or Guardian,
My name is Kristen Swejkowski and I would like to welcome your child to my Algebra 2 class
this year. I have attached my course syllabus to this leer in order to give you a chance to look over and
become familiar with my rules, expectations and procedures for this year. Please read through the
information with your son or daughter and sign the bottom of this page when you are finished.
This is my fifth year teaching in Imlay City and I cannot wait to meet all the students and their
families, [ grew up in Imlay City and also attended Imlay City High School. I received my bachelor’s
degree at Central Michigan University with a major in Mathematics and a minor in English. During my
education at Central I spent several years tutoring for high schoo! and college level courses. I completed
my student teaching at Utica High School, teaching regular and accelerated Algebra 1 and 2.
My primary goal as a teacher is to do what is best for the students at all times. I encourage
students to come to me if they are having difficulties so we can work together to solve the problem. 1
will make it a point to meet with students at any time before school or during lunch for additional help.
If additional help is needed, I do ask that arrangements are made at least one day in advance. I have high
expectations for each and every individual, and expect them to put forth their best effort at all times as I
will be doing the same.
Tencourage communication between teacher and parents/guardians and students; therefore I have
created a website in which you are able to access my weekly lesson plans and homework assignments at
any time. The site also offers my class information and expectations, extra resources for additional math
help, an online calculator, and an email option. I will also be using a tool called Remind, in which
students and parents are encouraged to join my class to receive text or email reminders about quizzes,
tests, things to bring to class and other important information.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me or leave a voicemail, and I
will get back to you as soon as possible. I look forward to a great and memorable year!
