Overview of the ROCKPROFILE

Cassette System
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System is a dedicated
thermal insulation wall cladding system. It is recommended for use as a light prefabricated element for the external perimeter and internal partition walls of buildings.
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System uses common metallic
elements load-bearing wall cassettes with stone wool
thermal insulation infill, covered on the external side
by sheet-metal cladding.
The ROCKPROFILCassette System is applicable as a curtain
wall element for steel or concrete load-bearing framed
structures without limitation.
The system can also be fixed to load-bearing walls and
beam fillings (for example large and/or heavy concrete
or aerated concrete panel walls, as well as to brick
or block masonry). It can be used as both a vertical
and horizontal cladding with an external sheet-metal
aesthetic.

The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System

is similar to traditional cassette walls,
but it has the added advantage
of reducing linear cold bridges
at cassette noses. This, in turn,
reduces the total thermal loss
of the wall.

The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System is therefore suitable

description
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has been specially

ones, the fixings for the external cladding are special

designed to prevent is cold bridges at cassette noses with

distance fastening screws. These are anchored to cassette

the help of overlapping stone wool thermal insulation

noses while, at the same time, being able to secure

batts, inserted within thecassettes. While the load-bearing

a cladding element at 40 mm distance from the cassette

cassettes and external cladding elements are standard

nose. The insulation component is a single layer of multipurpose stone wool batts which provide thermal, acoustic
and fire resistant protection to the structure.
The installation format allows for the insulation layer
to be inserted into the cassette while also forming a 40 mm
overlap covering the cassette noses. This arrangement
eliminates air gaps at all the horizontal joints of the
insulation batts. In essence, the ROCKPROFIL Cassette
System comprises standard components with the exception
of a few specified named products. It is regarded as an
open system, especially suited for the use of different
external cladding options (trapezoidal and corrugated
metal plates, external cassettes, non-metallic combined

Note 1: For round sheet-metal formed plates with low wave or for achieving of greater aesthetic effect of the external cladding, it is possible to
replace the basic distance screws with hexagonal head SDC2-S or SDC2-T
screws which have an attractive so-called irius ??? appearance with teeth
under the head L12 -marked as SDC2-S-L12 or SDC2-T-L12. For rapid and
high-quality assembly of all SFS Intec screws, special self-locking adaptors
made by SFS intec are recommended (type E 480 for hexagonal heads
and E 420 for L12 irius heads), which are attached by renewable jaws.
Note 2: Continuous steel sheet-metal plinth supported or top suspended profile (protecting against vertical displacement of cladding hanging down) ensures fixing to vertical OMEGA grid and
its static performance with cassettes, regular profile from zinccoated steel with minimum thickness of 1.25 mm. This element
defines a fixed point of the cladding from which the vertical
grid can expand. The most suitable placing of supporting
element is at the warmed-up attic.

with the manufacturer, the supplier or the cassette importer.

c) Thermal insulating properties declared in this Assembly

Manual refer only to the recommended insulation material
Airrock ND (for the ROCKPROFIL System) with a 40 mm
overlap of insulation over the cassette nose. In addition,
any further or nondescript mouldings, Z-profiles, grids,
other structures or components shall not be inserted
in the area of the facade which includes the overlapping
insulation.
d) There is a reduction of the static properties of loadbearing cassettes in the ROCKPROFIL Cassette System

The second group of conditions

concerns the instructions given
totechnical staff and the practical
training of construction crews who
will be personally participating
in the pre-assembly operation or
the mounting installation on site.

Fire Resistance
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has superior fire performance when
compared to the behaviour of traditional cassette walls with corresponding
parameters (eg. the same cassette depth and metal plate thickness, the same
thickness and quality of stone wool insulation, the same external sheet-metal
cladding). Test results for the ROCKPROFIL System according to EN 13501-2 are:
E 120 (io); EI 30 (io); EW 60 (io); E 120-ef (oi); EI 30-ef (oi);
EW 60-ef (oi). More details on fire classifications are available upon request.
During a unique fire demonstration in Mokrsko (CZ) month/year?, a test
building was erected and set on fire especially to show the excellent fire
protection performance of the ROCKPROFIL System.

Acoustic Properties
Besides its thermal and fire protection capability, ROCKPROFIL also provides
excellent acoustic properties. These were measured in CSI Prague month/year?
on actual model buildings giving results for weighted laboratory air-borne
sound reduction Rw up to 45 dB.
Note: All stated acoustic parameter measurements have been taken e according to international
ISO standards and the accredited testing reports for an actual project are available on request.

Static Parameters
The ROCKPROFIL Cassette System has reduced static para-

on metal plate thickness and width, cassette nose shape,

meters compared to so-called traditional cassette curtain wall

and the pattern of distance screws etc. Detailed data must

systems with straight assembled vertical trapezoidal metal

be determined by the designer with help from the cassette

plates using the same cassette, insulation and trapezoidal

supplier and taking into account the influence of load to the

metal plates. This is due to the performance of the longer

building from external forces (for instance from wind), height

fastening screws. Reduction coefficients of load-bearing

and shape of the building, the surrounding terrain and any

cassette capacities are established by combined experimental

other relevant local site conditions. More details about these

and calculation methods. These coefficients are dependent

parameters are available upon request.

Advantages of the ROCKPROFIL

Cassette System
1. Demonstrates outstanding innovation as a quality
curtain wall cassette system.

2. Retains simplicity even in a high performance system.

3. Key specific system components cannot be mistaken
only one type of screw, only one type of insulation etc.

4. Similar to the traditional, popular and frequently used

systems but achievingsubstantially better thermal
insulating properties.

5. Excellent acoustic properties.

6. High performance fire resistance E 120 and EW 60
minutes (fire from both sides), EI 30 minutes (fire
from inside) or EI 45 minutes (fire from outside)
for ROCKPROFIL systems with cassettes of minimum
120 mm depth and more.

7. Safeguards against penetration and vandalism very

difficult to disassemble by untrained persons (requires
special tools), robust in the event of malicious damage.

8. Ensures as standard good mechanical resistance of the

external cladding (bracing of ladders etc. is possible).

9. Fast and efficient assembly.

10. A relatively small investment delivers high
performance curtain wall cladding.

11. Fast economic payback of the system for heated

buildings.

12. The potential to reach external wall thermal transfer

coefficients not only of required values but also of the
even better recommended ones: UN = 0.20 W/m2.K
according to SN / STN 73 0540 2:2002 for real
cassettes without any exceptions.

13. A ROCKPROFIL installation makes it possible to fulfil

the EU Directive No. 2002/91/ES on energy require ments for buildings EPBD (Energy Performance
of Buildings Directive).
